I was blown away with how great this dentist is! Let me outline all the great things:
1) Dentist cleans your teeth, not a technician;
2) Netflix while you get your teeth cleaned /​examined;
3) Technology — newest everything;
4) Most comfortable exam chairs;
5) $ 5 gift cards for referring people (this place is so great I would do it for free);
6) Availability of appointments;
7) Saturday hours (they stopped doing this for now, great while it lasted);
8) Plenty of parking (I always get a spot right by the door);
Best dentist ever. I will put my entire Unilocal reputation on the line. I have been surprised at every turn how great everything here is.
I have great dental insurance and I am eligible for three cleanings a year and I get all three. This is the first dentist I went to since moving back to Charlotte and it was night and day. I liked my previous dentist but the hygienist would sometimes nick my gums — especially the most sensitive place between my two front teeth. I had the wife every time from this husband and wife dentist duo — she never nicks my gums or causing any excessive discomfort. Not only is the dentist far more skilled at this than a hygienist, she is so much faster.
NETFLIX! You can tell them what show you want to watch, what episode, and they will put it on and turn up the volume. Sometimes it is hard to hear because of what is going on but they will move the screen so you can see and turn it up so you can hear. No more awkward one sided conversation from the dentist — you can watch your favorite shows and before you know if you are ready to go.
Technology — Netflix is not all they have. The newest x-​ray machines (digital, portable handheld with minimal radiation). They have a wand that takes your picture and an electronic signature pad. All of this doesn’t matter much to me except it speeds up checking in and finishing up. It gets you in and out more quickly. They have email, text, and calls to remind you of your appointment.
Chairs: these are new and super comfortable chairs. No discoloration, no tears, no rough spots, no worn through padding here or there. They are perfect. My last dentist had some nice chairs and one with plenty of duct tape on it — I always asked to avoid the rickety old chair and sometimes I was stuck with it. Not this place — every chair is perfect.
Gift cards for referrals. This is special because this place is so great you can’t help but tell everyone about it. I didn’t know the dentist could be so convenient, quick, and enjoyable. You are going to pay me with Starbucks and Chic-​Fil-​A if I tell people how wonderful this place is? I am not getting paid for this Unilocal review by the way.
Appointments — you can get what you want when you want. No more pushing an appointment back a month to find a time you can actually use. I have found what I want within any 7 day period. I have a flexible schedule but my spouse can only do this on a Friday. There has been no problem finding the exact time my spouse wants on Friday. This is another big deal for me — some dentists make you bend over backwards to fit you in. They are also taking new patients here. I don’t know how they do it but they have great scheduling.
Sadly the Saturday hours are gone. They might come back. I was very pleased they offered this because most dentists won’t even consider having a single second outside of the 9 – 5, and how can you not miss work if they only see you during work. This place opens up early and you can get an 8AM, this should help you reduce the work you miss.
I always get a great spot and there is plenty of parking around. I get a spot right by the door, or a spot next to the bushes so nobody hits my car.
This place is in the cut because it is at the far end of a strip of stores with a Harris Teeter as the anchor. You really need your GPS for this one — once you know what this is you won’t have any trouble finding it. At worst you cruise the parking lot until you get to one end and find this office.
If you like your dentist I suggest you try this place: if you are like me you will be amazed how much you can like this place. Don’t settle for good enough — come here and something great.
I am pulling hard for this practice because it is new. I want this place to stay around because I love it. I am now too spoiled to go back to how things used to be at my other dentists in Richmond, Virginia Beach, Winston-​Salem, and Charlotte about 10 years ago. That is also a warning — this place will spoil you for all other dentists — be warned that once you come to Smile Saavy you can’t ever go back.
