Thank goodness for indoor public play spaces on rainy days! Tucked away in the mysterious land of Steele Creek, the Berewick Rec Center is connected to Berewick elementary school. There are a few classrooms where they have camps and classes, and the life-saver for moms of busy toddlers and preschoolers — Ray’s Play House, where for just $ 1 kids over 1 can frolick and climb and play. They had some nice gross motor climbing stuff, as well as puzzles, pretend stations, puppets and lots of things to keep a kid entertained when the playground is rained out. There were even cliquey moms who avoid eye contact(lol). Everything was pretty clean and in good shape as of July ’13, hopefully they’ll keep it well maintained to save the sanity of families on the south and/or west side.
