The BBQ was fine but overpriced. The service was OK. The nail in the proverbial coffin for this place was the owner. He came to our table to chat, and after seeing that my dad had been to the bathroom, he wouldn’t stop talking about whether my dad had gone into the correct bathroom or not. He was obviously trying to make some kind of joke about the bathroom situation in HB2 but it was ill-conceived at best and not funny at all, especially since we do NOT support what HB2 stands for. There is no problem with this gentleman having different political beliefs than his patrons, but it’s bad business to talk to customers about those beliefs while they’re waiting for an order! We will not be back.

At first, I was a little alarmed at the price. 6 and a half for a BBQ sandwich and no combo! But the portions are generous, the sauces are on point, and the facilities are well maintained, homey, and exudes personality. Will be back!

So the highway sign, and thought what the heck? Let’s give it a shot. The barbecue sandwiches. Service is amazing, the ladies made us feel like you’re right. The sauce was so delicious you could practically drink it! The slaw was out of this world, we bought two points to bring up north with us and share with her friends. Can’t wait to come back on our next drive through the area

I can’t believe all the negative reviews. I’ve been eating at Bubbas’ for years and the food is always top notch. Best Eastern, NC bbq in Charlotte. Get the large plate and include the Brunswick stew. Sweet tea is strong and tasty,

My Wife and I are in town and decided to stop in here for takeout. The BBQ is a bit bland and we watched them heat mine up in a microwave. The coleslaw had too much mustard and was very tangy. Best part of my meal was the chicken tenders and potato salad. Best part of my Wife’s meal was tasting off my plate. All the awards on the walls were from the early 2000s. This place may be well past it’s prime!

This is one of the most legit BBQ spots in the Charlotte area. If you don’t like eating whole hog on a crappy cafeteria tray, then you don’t like barbecue.

Very average. The owner came out and challenged my husband to take some childish«man or boy» test in the men’s bathroom. Guy wouldn’t stop talking to us. Food was mediocre. Will not go back simply because the owner wouldn’t leave us alone to eat. He was very weird – asked personal questions that were none of his business. The other staff were great, but this guy weirded us out. If you go and you’re a man, be prepared for your manhood to be challenged.

We had the default pulled BBQ, available in three sizes. I had the regular and my wife elected to have the petit portion. Both of us took some home in a to go box. Sides include the regular stuff, we had baked beans and green beans, both good as well as the unlimited hush puppies. We both thought that this BBQ needed no sauce, but had a nice spicy taste. We both tried the NC vinegar as well the sweeter«chicken and rib» sauce and agreed it stood well alone. This place will go on my travel list as I pass through or have business on Charlotte. Good value, good taste, clean place, smile on the staff. Go try it!

Servers were friendly and timely! Food was severely overpriced for the quality. Kenny B’s review hit the nail on the head! BBQ was gross, slaw was grosser. French fries, onion rings and hush puppies all tasted the same, also gross. Was like $ 34 with a $ 6 tip and cookout would have tasted 5 times better. Could be a great place and worth the money but the food quality was horrible. I’d suggest finding bbq elsewhere.

I come here often and get lunch togo. I love their BBQ sandwich and fries. The BBQ is always cooked perfectly. It’s never full of grit or fat and it has just a hint of smokiness to it. They don’t go crazy with the flavor or seasoning but that’s how I believe proper cooked meat should be. The people who work the counter are friendly and efficient. Also it only takes 5 minutes(or less) for me to get my food and go on my way.

Excellent! This was a stop on our way to Savannah. Bubba’s is off the interstate but it’s not a tourist BBQ place, it is the real thing. I’ve never seen pork BBQ chopped so fine and the vinegar-based sauce was just what I wanted. Hushpuppies were great and an added bonus. Potato salad was unusual and delicious. The place had alot of regulars and it’s always a plus when the owner comes out and talks to you. My girlfriend remembered it from 20+ years ago and we ended buying a T-shirt, his sauces and BBQ to go!

I should have known not to go in. The place was empty. I got the ribs. I am not an expert but I didn’t see the smoky color. The biggest problem was that the meat was under cooked.

$ 14 for a regular size barbecue plate and a ice water ! Would not be a problem for good BBQ, but this was average at best. The Chopped pork was mushy, with very little smoke taste, & consistency of canned tuna. I remember the BBQ being good the b last time i eat there, 10+ years ago. I have eaten a lot of great NC&SCBBQ. If Bubba’s was in Goldsboro or Wilson they would be out of business.

1st time in. Typical old school BBQ joint. They do have both eastern and western NC sauce which is nice since I do like my tomato sauce with a vinegar kick. O rings are beer battered. Price is a bit steep for the portion but I understand the rising cost of pork. Good waitstaff. No complaints there. I recommend it for lunch if your headed this way. Update. I hadn’t tried the o rings prior to posting. Pass. They are frozen. Or atleast not spectacular. Like i said. Good lunch spot. Will come back though next time Im thinking ribs.

The service was nice, friendly and fast. I’m giving it a 1 star for the food and price. It literally tasted and looked like everything came out of a old can. The consistency was real weird on every level. Probably the worst BBQ food I’ve ever had. I don’t know how else to put it. But if you can avoid it, you should. It was real expensive for the quality of food too. It was $ 18 for a standard pulled pork plate with a drink. Seriously so bad. But they were friendly and nice. That’s about it though. Sorry bubba, you need a makeover. You’re giving NCBBQ a bad rep.

Cafeteria style Q. Bubba’s Barbecue is a regular old barbecue joint that you can find all over our great 50 states. If I’m rating Bubba’s against other Carolina Q joints that make an Eastern Carolina Q… Bubba’s would get a zero. Eastern Q is made from a whole hog pit barbecue. You can tell immediately that a whole hog was not pit smoked for an extended amount of time. If you’re looking for some pork with a vinegar sauce, Bubba’s will be fine… and it does have a faint hint of smoke… but traditional Eastern Carolina Q? Not in my world. The sides and everything else is completely serviceable. I’d liken most of the food to a cafeteria style fare. I wish I loved this place. All of the people that work here and the owners are so awesome. If you’re not serious about smokey Q… Bubba’s might work for you.
