This restaurant took over the space where Taste of Havana use to be. We went for lunch one day. I asked the server how long have they been here? Since the big sign on the main road was still reading Taste of Havana, I figured not too long. I was wrong in that assumption. He said a year. The sign on the restaurant itself did say Conga’s, which is why we we wanted to try. «OH good, something new and something Cuban» we thought(IE Cuban sandwich) perfect for lunch. If perhaps we ordered it elsewhere that is. I tried the Cuban and when its made with quality fresh ingredients it is tasty as hell. This, I’m sad to report was not. The bread was thick and light and very crumbly when I bit into it.(think not pressed) the bread did case all the ingredients for a traditional Cuban sandwich but the pork on there was very dried out. Instead of nice thin pieces of pulled pork, I got almost chunk like pieces(think mexican carnitas pork chunks) Ok, not that big but really, these were silly. Big chunks might have been ok had they not been so dry and chewy. The other dish, Chicken Kabob. While the chicken had no flavor on its own it was juicy. But make sure you get a bite of the grilled onion and pepper on the skewer or else this dish is bland. Served with white rice and nothing to write home about black beans. Our server was very friendly, And filled us in on the lunch program. Buy 10 Lunch Specials get on free(card punch) Unfortunately, I think our card will remain with only one punch in it.
