Cranfield Academy

Not impressed AT ALL. The directors were both very unfriendly and unbecoming and could not answer the majority of my questions with a response parents would feel comfortable about. The teachers in the infant rooms seemed good but not necessarily happy to be there and it starts at the top so if the directors represented their true self while I was there then that explains why. I also noticed every single infant in room 2 was sick with a runny nose or nose with green/​yellow crust or coughing. I’ve had kids in daycare’s so I understand how illness goes around and that its often. That being said, I did find it ironic that ALL of the infants had this going on. The outside play area is a little old and outdated and needs cleaned up with new equipment, especially for the toddlers and up. To «reserve» your spot you have to pay the registration fee PLUS a full week of tuition and neither are refundable. Even the 5 star centers in the nicer part of Charlotte don’t require tuition upfront for something you may or may not even use (depending on how long you are on the wait list). That tells me its more about the $$ and not the childcare because if it were then what I saw on the tour does not represent so.

My 2.5 month old daughter was enrolled here for two days. I pulled her out immediately after I discovered they had fed her the wrong bottle, which happened to be another womans breasmilk. Because of their carelessness, I had to bring my 2.5 month old baby to the doctor for bloodwork to test for HIV and Hepatitis. Thankfully, her bloodwork came back normal, but I will have to get her retested again in 6 months. I’ve since learned that Cranfield has FINALLY put a policy in place for serving breastmilk, however, as a 5 star licensed daycare, you would have thought a policy as simple as handling expressed breast milk would already be in place. (its a basic policy as I’ve learned in my additional research for a new child care facility) Before enrolling your child here, ask yourself «if they didn’t have a policy on handling expressed breast milk, what else are they not doing correctly?». I would highly recommend you search elsewhere for child care. For the price you pay at Cranfield, you should expect better care.

Great, clean facility with top notch teachers and workers. My son has been going to Cranfield since he was one, and has really enjoyed it.
We wanted to put him in a day care that wasn’t just a glorified babysitter service, and Cranfield fits that bill. They’re working with him on all the essential basics including, eating with utensils at a table, baby sign language, colors, shapes, numbers… all that good stuff.
Day care isn’t cheap to begin with, but after you get a look at the menu which includes things from tuna salad and meatballs, to chicken parm and fresh veggies, you start to realize why.
Definitely recommended!
