Decadent Designs is my favorite place for sweets. I’ve had cakes made for baptisms and birthdays that have been phenomenal and most recently a cupcake cake for a work celebration. They are extremely thorough in both the design and the flavor combinations and we’ve never been disappointed. When we pop in for a quick dessert, anything we get is delicious! Love this place!

I called on a Monday for a last minute birthday cake. Not only did they make sure to have it done on such a tight deadline but they made sure I would love the cake. We quickly went over key details and by Saturday, I had a cake that was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Red velvet cake with delicious cheesecake icing. Honestly I could have just had the cheesecake icing and would have been satisfied.
For any occasion I would ALWAYS recommend this bakery!!!

My husband and I impulsively stopped in here after a meal nearby. I thought we were going for the coffee bar, but my husband wanted a sweet for us for Valentines Day, surprise. I got a chocolate strawberry cupcake — chocolate cake, strawberry mouse and strawberry frosting with a chocolate coating. The cake was good, but the mouse and the frosting and chocolate coating was delicious. It really was the best around that I’ve tried. I really enjoyed this and will go back. The only thing I didn’t like at all was the red flower on the top. It was pretty but it didn’t do anything flavor wise. It was just a waxy nothing.

We stopped in last night after dinner to get a sweet treat. We got a carrot cake cupcake, a lemon bar, a piece of the tiramisu cake, an oatmeal raisin cookie, and a strawberry macaron. The lemon bar was scrumptious, with just the right amount of tartness, but the rest of the treats were just okay. I liked the flavor of the macaron (reminded me of a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar), but the texture wasn’t great. The oatmeal raisin cookie was just okay, my husband thinks he could make one just as good or better. The cupcake and the cake needed to thaw before eating! We weren’t impressed by the icing on either cake… had the texture and taste of Crisco. We’ll find another bakery for our sweet treats.

Best bakery in Ballantyne by far. Even the day old $ 1 basket items are outstanding. The stuffed cupcakes are a must.

Got a birthday cake for my grandson here and although the cake was good they are very overpriced. They charged $ 15 just to put a mickey mouse face on it. I had wanted full figures of mickey & goofy but they wanted $ 45 PER CHARACTER, they justified it by saying it was basically a piece of art work. REALLY? Had I not been pushed for time I would have walked out laughing, instead I sucked it up gave them a check and made a promise to myself that next year I wouldn’t wait until the last minute so I could avoid overpaying for a cake that probably cost $ 15 to make but charged $ 72. Lesson learned!

Awesome. Get the sticky buns once a month almost. Amazing bakery.

What a wonderful experience I had with Jan planning my wedding cake! She had so many ideas and was so very helpful! I took home both flavored of their cake balls and they were divine! I will be placing my order very soon! I’m one happy bride to be! Thank you!

This bakery was right around the corner from my job and I’d been craving a cupcake for a few weeks so I finally decided to give in. I ordered 2 cupcakes, the Strawberry and the Vanilla and also 1 Green Apple Macaroon. I always saw Macaroons on chef shows and was curious and finally had the opportunity to try one in person. It was delicious! So delicious I went back the next day for more. Sadly, they only had 1 Green Apple left so I scooped it up along with an Orange which was delicious also. So flaky and light. Also very sweet! It turned my empty stomach afterwards. But was worth it!
Now for the cupcakes, giving me instructions to leave my cupcake out at room temperature for a few hours before I could enjoy it was immediately a turn off. I realize that it is warm outside, however, that does not mean that the cupcakes need to be kept at almost freezing. I’ve been to plenty of bakeries who keep their cases at a temperature just high enough to keep them from melting. Who wants a cold dense cupcake? Had I not already paid when she told me, I would’ve left them there. After waiting almost 5 hours leaving the cupcakes in my office on my desk & then in my car for an hour drive home, the cupcakes were still very cold. I was tired of waiting and decided to give the Strawberry one a try. It was cold, dense and dry. It tasted more like a muffin than a cupcake. The icing was delicious though. So I enjoyed the icing and trashed the cupcake after few bites. I left the Vanilla cupcake on my counter while I was at work the next day. I wrapped it so it wouldn’t dry out from sitting in the box. I do not leave my air on while i’m at work, so my apartment is around 78 degrees by the time I get home so the cupcake wasn’t cold, but it was still dense and dry. Again, more consistent with a muffin than a cupcake.
Gigi’s near Southpark also keeps their cupcakes pretty cold. But after about an hour you can enjoy a light and fluffy cupcake. So i’ll be passing on cupcakes at Decadent Designs moving forward. But i’ll definitely be returning for Macaroons and maybe try a different dessert.

Just amazing! Me and a friend had a sweet tooth and ended up finding this place on Unilocal.Soon as we walked in we were greeted by the sweetest lady Jan I believe her name was. I ordered a cinnamon roll a cookie a cookie dough pop a chocolate filled croissant and a turtle cupcake! All of that was only $ 10 and some change. Everything was fresh and made from scratch and tasted absolutely delicious. I cannot wait to go back!

Ok, so we got a call and they sincerely apologized and offered 10% off our next purchase. I am appreciative and grateful for the phone call. There was a misunderstanding and they accepted the fault. Hard to find companies in any realm that would do something like that. The cake was pretty on the inside and tasted great so I can’t complain about that. The other desserts that we had were delicious (sorry I didn’t mention it before, I was just upset…) and there are more things there that I will return to try out. NO, they didn’t ask me to do this update, it was voluntary.

Very happy. Took 96 year old dad here and he loved the goodies, which were almond crescent and a cherry turnover. I had chocolate all over my mouth as I wolfed down a chocolate devil food with chocolate icing cupcake.
Great friendly service, like the 1950s local bakeries were when I grew up on the upper east coast.
Gelato, coffee and quite an array of goodies and if you don’t see something you might like… ask.
Will be returning.

Yummy but always understaffed. They need to hire folks to just run the cash register while the two main ladies take care of the special orders. Always a constant problem and very frustrating.

I happened to be driving by this place and decided to stop in. Although they specialize in wedding cakes I think, there other pastries looked appetizing and some tasted better than they looked. I wouldn’t recommend their cupcakes – they were overly sweet (I know that sounds weird) and weren’t very moist, but their lemon bars were great. So creamy with just the right combination of sweet and tart. I haven’t been back in a while because my thighs can’t afford it, but I’ll be returning pretty soon.

Went to Decadent Designs while I was in town visiting my family and got a cookie and cupcake. Both were delicious and the ladies behind the counter were super helpful and sweet. I’ll definitely be coming back here for more treats!

I stopped by today 9−7−13 for cake tops. There was only one available. I got it at a discount and it went right into the freezer. I also got some ginger cookies and some sugar cookies from their dollar day old basket as well as the key lime bar. Everything was good but nothing was memorable.

I found this bakery as I was eating at my favorite pizza place in ballantyne Tonys. Seems this bakery moved from Matthews an as I walked in it smelled Delish :) I bought the turtle cupcake, turtle brownie an a day old turnover. The turtle cupcake was amazing chocolate, marshmallow Carmel w nuts an filled w Carmel melts in ur mouth. The cake was a devils food cake very moist. The brownie I found to be too rich an to much frosting on top. The turnover wasn’t very good maybe b/​c it was a day old :(I will go back I want to try their cookies an their lemon bars. Their cakes looked amazing, try put this bakery an make sure the turtle cupcake is a must. Enjoy

For Goodness Sake let’s eat some Baked! The Chocolate Chip Cookie was GREAT! All the Baked goods looked real good! The Ladies working here were very friendly! If you are not taking it with you and the weather is nice look at the Patios!!! Very nice! Right next door to «Persis Biryani Grill»!
We did not even ask about the «Gelato» since it was in a Dispenser… Question Mark, sad face, question Mark, sad, sad Face… Since they have a Gelato sign maybe the will make some that we can Unilocal about… Until then the Cookie was GREAT!

I lurve bakeries. If I didn’t have jeans to fit into, I would live in one. And eat cupcakes and cheesecake and brownies and cookies ALL DAY LONG. But I *do* have some sense of health, so when I go for a cupcake or a treat, I want it to be good. That’s why I was quite pleased with Decadent Designs!
Hubs and I dropped by to snag some treats to bring over to a friend’s house. The very nice woman behind the counter led us through the different flavors and even let us sample a bit of their cheesecake (which was creamy dreamy deliciousness). Most cupcakes ranged from $ 2-​$ 4 depending on flavor and size. We purchased a variety box of red velvet, carrot, turtle and devil’s food cake.
The red velvet cupcake was solid — albeit a bit dry. The cream cheese frosting was some of the best I’ve had, though, and that made up for the bit of dryness near the bottom of the cupcake. Our friends loved the carrot cake cupcake, too. I wasn’t able to stick around to take stock in the rest of the cupcakes, but I have a feeling they were long gone within an hour. If you’re looking for treats in the Ballantyne/​Blakeney area, Decadent Designs is a very solid choice.
