If having friends, entertaining guests, or having visitors is important to you… DONT LIVE HERE!
Ridiculous policy for booting and towing that doesnt adequately inform the visitor. I commend the apartment complex on trying to keep unauthorized parkers out but they are clearly amateurs, you dont want to punish authorized visitors. I visited a friend here and parked in the visitors lot. There is a huge sign for future residents and no signs requiring visitors passes. There are also no signs for each individual parking space in terms of warnings for towing or booting. My friend unfortunately gave me her visitors pass and because we were rushing off to dinner I left it in my console in the middle of the car (can be visibly seen from the window). She did not mention that without the pass i would be towed because she didnt realize it would go as far as it did and again, there were no signs mentioned.
To return to a boot was definitely overkill. I have a similar policy in my neighborhood which is also uptown and there are signs about towing and visitors passes all over the place, you cant miss it!
So long story short I had to call the police in order to have a smooth transition given the tow truck drivers aggressiveness and pay $ 125 to get the boot off my car. The police officer was pretty cool and looked at me and said you know what you are dealing with right now is bs and you should appeal. I took his advice and currently have an attorney (also a very good friend of mine) handling a small claims case against the tow truck company and the apartment complex. Come to find out there is a requirement in the latest towing ordnance (January 22, 2016) for tow signs at each parking space and also there was no indication that a visitors pass was required. Lastly, I took the picture of my visitors pass to the attorney who deemed it is indeed «visible» although it is not attached to the rear view.
I am hesitant unfortunately to ever visit my friend here again and it’s sad because I was an authorized parker that was unnecessarily penalized.
