The grits were to die for! Loved the sausage gravy, and the biscuits were fantastic. Good service. Fun atmosphere! We will definitely go back!

The food is amazing but the service is horrible. They have attitudes which makes you afraid to ask for anything else. I am a waitress and i would never treat someone like they treat me constantly when i go there. I’d rate it a 4 on the food but because of the attitudes and nastiness of the waiters and waitresses i give it a 1 star. Having to deal with this type of service is horrible and is a terrible atmosphere to walk into when im trying to grab breakfast with family. Its a shame since this place is great but i would not recommended it unless you’re okay with dealing with snobby service and continuously begging to get a refill on water.

I’m removing 2 stars for disorderly conduct. We arrived here on a drizzly Sunday at about 11:40. We were met by 3 teenagers at the hostess booth who looked very overwhelmed despite only a few parties waiting. We were told the wait would be about 20 minutes for 2 people and we proceeded to stand within earshot of the hostess booth while other parties arrived and those who arrived before us were seated. Once it was about time to be our turn the hostess asked if we wanted to sit outside(it was raining) or sit at the bar. I let them know that since we should be next I would continue to wait. A couple more parties arrived and were told to wait until a woman jumps out of a car and asks how long the wait would be for 3 people and the hostess responded they could seat them right away! I kid you not. At this point I’m staring in disbelief and then a couple minutes later they finally seat us at a table right next to another empty table and I look around and there are probably 5 other empty tables around us. This is totally not acceptable behavior at a restaurant, they need to hire a host/hostess who actually knows what they’re doing. On to the actual meal. We were greeted by our waitress right away and ordered coffee. After coming back with coffee we gave our orders and our food came out in less than 5 minutes. After listening to my husband complain about them not having any real bacon, we both were happily stuffed with brunch food. We were given our check but the waitress gave us the wrong ticket. She ran away and came back with the correct check. After waiting for probably longer than it took for our food to arrive we finally paid and were able to leave. It was a confusing and flustering dining experience and they really have some organizational issues to work out.

We love to go for breakfast. We ask for Susan every time we go. She makes you feel at home, great sense of humor. along with great service. The food is always spectacular! We love their biscuits, Turkey hash, Pimento sauce, turkey sausage, sausage gravy, Peach compote & famous enough apple butter, just to name a few. We refer a bunch of our friends, why should we be the only ones to know about this fun breakfast place. Thanks for making us feel like family !!

With a name like flying biscuit, the biscuits better be good, and they did not disappoint! Good olé southern breakfast here, not too heavy, but very satisfying. We have been there 5 times and it’s been great each time.

What can you say about Flying Biscuit cafes? They are all yummy. The prices are always a little steep for some basic eggs but the dense biscuits make up for it. If you like thick thick heavy biscuits with sprinkled sugar on top, you will adore these biscuits. If you are into the fluffy flaky biscuits, this is NOT for you. Actually the same goes for their oatmeal pancake. Totally great for you if you want to fill up before a long drive or will not eat again for 5+hours. But if your tummy reacts to coffee the way some do, make sure a stall is close by. Haha They are fiberlicious. The grits are what i prefer because they are made with cheese and cream. Again… stall close by.(smile). Now as far as lunch here, I cannot speak on it as I prefer breakfast food morning, afternoon and evening. The tables at this location are jammed together so that is why 4 stars. Weird because they stufd you like an ihop crêpe but then expect you to walk sideways to your seat.(smile) The waitstaff has been cool here too. Kind of a grunge feel too. Think of your coolest pizza grunge spot with the guy with the giant holes pierced through his lobes complete with skully… now apply this look to breakfast in Ballantyne.

Everything was excellent, including the customer service. Delicious shrimp and grits. The kids’ meals are large and very reasonably priced. The biscuit accompanying each meal could be a meal itself. The servers offered to go drinks and were very accommodating with take out containers. We’ll definitely be back!

Flying B — I love you… but I need you to upgrade your lettuce standards. Your Fried BLT Salad is quite literally my favorite salad in the Queen City, but the past THREE times I’ve ordered it there has been wilted lettuce in my salad. One time I even sent it back and when it came back out the lettuce was STILL wilted. Please please please try harder! It’s your only flaw!

Came here with two other couples. We came for a saturday brunch and they were busy as always but we didn’t have to wait long at all. Juan was a server and he was just plain awesome! He made me laugh and cheered me up. I’m not really a morning person but he had me cracking up the whole time. He gave excellent service. I got an omelette and it was delicious. I’ve never had their moon potatoes before but they were good and crispy!

The waitress was horrible and in a mood, she needed to check her attitude at the door! The biscuits were large and looked good But they were extremely dry! Ordered 2 kids grilled Mac and cheese and sent them back my kids wouldn’t eat it, greasy greasy greasy! Then we got a kids French toast It was a few pieces of soggy bread sticks. Everything on the menu sounds good My eggs Benedict was good, my mothers pancakes were ok she said But I don’t know if I would go back to give it a second try.

Don’t believe the hype. Way too pricey for what it is… Felt like breakfast at Moe’s. Not one biscuit flew!

A twist on traditional breakfast foods. The entire menu is avaialable all day everyday. For those of you that dont enjoy brekafats, mush like myself, there are plenty of non breakfast items. With that being said I actually enjoyed the breakfast items more than the lunch items. The biscuits were different than what you traditionally expect. The apple butter was delish! The sausage gravy was to die for but it is much different from traditional sausage gravy. The gravy tastes more like stuffing due to its punch of flavor(i could taste a lot of rosemary). Ive only ate grits a few times as I am not from the south but these grits were unbelievable! Go for the grits no matter what! The chicken sandwich I ordered was a chicken sandwich. The steak breakfast is well worth the money as you actually get a thick steak cooked perfectly opposite of the flat freezer steak you get at most breakfast restaurants! Overall this is a must go with prices that are reasonable but not cheap.

The fried green tomatoes came out cold and honestly are not edible. That sweet cashew topping they put on it to me is just gross with the tomatoes. Side of potatoes was average. Egg tortilla was fine but how do you screw that up? I did taste the biscuit and it is good but it’s a bisquit. So what? Oh and they serve that delicious diner royal cup coffee. Yuck. $ 20 and there is nothing about that meal that I would come back for. Honestly people you can do better than that at home. The only reason I came in this morning is because there was a water main break and I’m without water. If I’m going to go out for breakfast it must be something a step up from what I would do myself and that would be Another Broken Egg

So I love anywhere you can order breakfast outside of morning hours. And any place that gets creative with their breakfast options gets high marks in my book. I respect that they try to keep it fresh and on the healthy-side. You’ll find organic options and turkey instead of pork. Some of my favorites are the Turkey Hash(which comes topped with fried eggs) and the Southern Style Biscuit Benedict. I’m also a fan of the Fried Egg Sandwich. My only complaint, is that for restaurant with Biscuit in the name. the biscuits aren’t really that good. They are dense and dry… but the Flying Biscuit makes up for that by serving you home-made apple butter that is out of this world. Really, I could drink the stuff. The apple butter goes GREAT on pancakes.

Great food but the wait is a bit much and when I got my food the eggs that said they were poached were hard boiled. But other than that the eggs Benedetto was fantastic.

Sugar on the biscuits? No red meat on the menu? What kind of southern restaurant is this? I think it can best be described by a couple old guys I overheard talking, one of which was there for the first time… Old Guy #1: This place is weird. Must be owned by yankees. Old Guy #2: No, they are from Atlanta. Old Guy #1: Same thing.

Traveled to NC to visit a friend and she took me to this place. She explained that the biscuits and grits(which I had never had) were amazing. She was 100 percent right! The place is very quaint and unique, which I loved. They seemed to be very busy, which was a great sign for the business. We waited for around 20 minutes and it was definitely worth the short wait time. The apple butter that goes on the biscuits could be addictive, if I lived closer. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area or visiting.
