Hertz Rent A Car

I reserved a car through Hertz Gold and had no issues with pick up of the car for a weeklong rental. Upon my return the attendant told me that I was being charged $ 13.99 for re-​fueling since I didn’t have a receipt. The car gas tank was obviously full and he kept referring me page 3 of my rental control. When I told him that I wasn’t accepting the charge, he proceeded to go ahead and charge me. When I asked to have a supervisor come over, he told me that wasn’t possible. After asking 5 time, he finally told me a supervisor was coming. Nate (the supervisor arrived) and advised me that «supervisors weren’t available at the return area», but that since he was over there he would speak with me. I explained that the car was full and that I didn’t understand why they were imposing a $ 13.99 charge. He then advised me that since I had driven less than 75 miles (the return attendant never said this) and didn’t have a receipt that the policy was to charge a $ 13.99 fee in the event that I was trying to cheat (yes, he used that word). At that point, I explained to him that I had rented the car for a week and knew that i had driven over 1200 miles. At that point, he basically told me that the odometer reading must have been incorrect when I took the car out and so it was my fault (nobody asked me to verify the odometer reading) at the point at which I left the Hertz lot, I was however asked to verify that the gas tank was full). After further discussion (some heated), Nate finally agreed to take the $ 13.99 fuel charge off the bill since it was apparent that the car was full and the «misunderstanding» (his words) about the fuel charge was my fault. The reality is that if the return attendant had simply used a little common sense and recognized that since I had been driving the car for 6 days, it was unlikely that I had driven less than 75 miles or even more simply just explained that the $ 13.99 charge was for driving less than 75 miles and not having a receipt, the whole situation could have been avoided. Overall, I find the Charlotte Hertz operation to be slow (took over 20 minutes to get through the gate as only one attendant was working to let cars out of the lot on pick up) and lacking customer service. If a customer asks to speak to a supervisor, that should occur where and when the customer asks. My company has their travel contract with Hertz, so I have to use them. In general, my experience at other locations in the area I travel is overwhelmingly positive, just a problem at my home airport in Charlotte.

Bonnie went above and beyond! She made our trip amazing. There was a mishap in our booking with the wrong rental car. We needed a 7 passenger and I booked a 7 passenger but I was given a small suv. Bonnie hooked us up with a mini van! Amazing work Bonnie!

Rental reserved last Thursday night at midnight. My flight was delayed and I wasn’t sure what time they closed. But they were open until 1:00 am. The two representatives were very friendly. Wish I remembered their names. I chose my station, checked in and was sent on my way. No issues for me.

While the attendant was professional in her demeanor, Hertz in Charlotte Airport was lousy. First, upon arrival, we were told that the wait time for a car is 45 minutes. A series of problems emerged with the car that I booked through Expedia, so while Hertz can’t be completely faulted for that, Hertz showed no flexibility or consideration — example: the booking said that I’d get either a 2-​door or 4-​door car, but at check-​in they showed me on the computer screen that they’re giving me a tiny 2-​door shoebox smart car in which none of our luggage would fit. When I asked why the booking said a 4-​door is an option but they’re not offering one, they said that the 4-​door would be at a higher price. Unbelievable.
Then, I’m sure to get rid of me b/​c I was so furious, the attendant cut our wait time by providing us with a 4-​door car, for which I agreed to pay a higher rate, which was caked in mud on the exterior lower rim.
I thought that Hertz is far more professional than that. It was a very frustrating experience, but in the end it all worked out. I don’t hold it against the attendant. There’s serious lack of communication between Expedia and other companies, and the customer pays the price. Wish Hertz was more understanding. And I wish the car was not muddy.

The attendants at the desk were very friendly. The gentleman who helped me inquired about the reason for my visit and was ready to make suggestions for places to go or see (I did not need that as I was on a quick business trip). The car was clean and there were also attendants in the garage to help me. It was an overall positive experience. Drop off was quick and painless as well.

MANAGEMENT DOES NOT RESPOND. Which tells me they do not care. I have reached out regarding a refund for assisting a terminally ill cancer patient and on another occasion for being charged for services my profile does not include. I rent with Hertz multiple times a month and expect much better service. I have called countless times and left numerous voicemails. None of them are ever returned and the counter staff at this location treats customers like children at times. One of the worst locations I’ve ever rented from.

Hertz is fantastic at Charlotte airport. Always so courteous and helpful. Last time I rented, I left some papers and folders in the back seat of rental car. I realized it after I dropped off car and headed to airport security line. I had just gotten though security when I realized I forgot the papers. Luckily I had time, so I went back to Hertz and ladies at the Hertz Gold Desk were able to track down the cat I rented. It was already downstairs getting cleaned for next rental. But they found my papers and brought it to me. Saved me time and money by not having to get them mailed to me. Thank you ladies at Hertz Gold desk on afternoon of Thursday May 26 at CLT, I wish I would have gotten your names. You are very kind. I will always rent from Hertz!

Our most recent Hertz rental took us to Lenoir and Asheville, North Carolina. The car was a new Dodge Traveler. It had less than 5.000 miles when we picked it up.
Being a member of Hertz’s Gold Plus Rewards program, we went across the street to the pick up center, looked up our name on the list, found the space indicated, put our bags in the back, and drove to the exit gate. There, the Hertz representative offered smiles and friendly service with a «no worries» attitude.
The car provided flawless performance, was carefree, and a joy to drive. Check in was simple and efficient. They put a receipt in our hands, and we were off to our flight back to San Francisco.

Reserved a Chevy Surburban sized-​vehicle months ago… got to CLT with my 5 other family members and found my name on Gold # listed with a full size car. Woman at Gold Counter said that they had no more cars in that size. I had to go into parking garage and find something smaller that barely worked for all of us and our luggage. Terrible service…

Another less than impressive showing by Hertz. Slow an confused counter staff. Reserved a «midsize» (Corolla or «equivalent») and got a Nissan Vista that smelled badly. I realize Hertz classifies this as a midsize but they (along with most other rental agencies) really need to create the «economy midsize» to throw the no frill, no power, no style cars into. The estimated cost for a week was ~$ 221 so Hertz proceeded to hold $ 400 on my credit card. I guess they figured I’d likely keep it for another week. I think it’s time to try some of the others. Not to optimistic but I just can’t continue to give my business to a company who continues to skimp and slide to the basement on quality and customer service.

A ladies tire blue out on the interstate while she’s ok the tire didn’t make it lessons learned… saving $ 7 is not worth an hour of my time… they don’t check the car for dents dings or damage so we will see how this works upon return… Bc there are scratches on the car… enterprise works hard for that $ 7 so I’ll be sure to pay them in the future

Very pleased with my experience here. Easy in and out with the car. Friendly employees. Car was perfect for my needs. It was also less expensive than some of the other car rental companies at the airport. Easy access from the terminal.

The service was as expected and the availability was abundant. I really have to say, the cleanliness of the cars were much higher than my expectation. As soon as I returned the car back, there was an individual already cleaning the car and polishing the inside seats.

I didn’t want to purchase the extra insurance on the car for $ 40/​day, but the woman at the counter said they were having a special promotion, and that it would actually end up being more expensive if I DIDN’T get the extra insurance. After looking online, I’m fairly certain that was just plain wrong. I called the next day, gave my phone number and rental number, and said I wanted to remove it. Never got a call back. The rental ended up being way more expensive than I had originally thought.
tl;dr: Nice car, but I was tricked into paying too much and then ignored when I complained.

Dumpster fire. That’s what I think of when I think of the Charlotte airport Hertz location. They have eight desks and three kiosks, but you can only expect one of the eight desks to be manned and maybe one or two of the kiosks to actually work. I only hope you’re a Gold Member and can bypass the check-​in altogether, otherwise you can realistically expect a 45 minute to one hour wait.
In peak times and in cases where flights are canceled, this location is completely unprepared to handle anything outside of a minimal level of business.
The employees are all very friendly and as helpful as possible, but Hertz doesn’t do much to set them up for success. Take it from a Five Star Gold Member: avoid this location if possible. Unfortunately, if you’re like me, your travel plans may dictate that you don’t have a choice. In that case, make sure you’re mentally prepared for the dumpster fire.

The Hertz Rental Car facility at Charlotte is really easy to get in and out of and is a very short walk from the Terminal.
I will say the signage directing you to the lot was a bit odd and confusing — but we quickly figured it out…

I have been renting from Hertz consistently since 1999, when you actually paid to be a gold member. Still being a gold member I like that I can reserve my car, walk out to the garage, see my name on the board and walk to the space and get my car. Every other time I have had no issue doing this mindless walk to the car, but during my recent visit oh how times have changed. I walk out to the garage, no name on the board, and whoa… no cars in the garage. WTF! Considering I just walked past about 75 people in line, inside, all I could think about was those people are SOL, cause there are no cars here. Where are the cars? I reserved this thing a month ago. I go to the little gold booth area and they start the tap dance, blah blah, yada yada, oh your car is coming, they are finishing prepping it now. Just go wait outside there and we will bring it around to you. Waiting, waiting, waiting… finally here it comes and when they said prepping they were putting that mildly. This thing was wet from the car wash. We threw the bags in the trunk and thought lets get out of this place before they take the car back and give it to one of those poor souls in the line inside. I did get the Nissan Maxima just for comforts sake since I knew we would be driving quite a
the time we made it to Hendersonville, NC, we knew something was really wrong with this car. It was pulling to the left and the passenger side door would not close properly. Upon further inspection, it appeared as if the car had been in an accident, because the door moldings were different colors. There were sunflower seed shells all over the floor in the back and some under the drivers foot area. But damn, these people rented me a wrecked, should not be on the road car. This car was not safe, but were 2 hours from Charlotte by now. I called to express my concerns over the car (had to leave a voice mail — 3 more calls and each time I had to leave a voice mail, they never pick up the phone) When I received my return phone call I was told that I could try and call Asheville Hertz which is not corporate to see if they have a corporate car they could switch out. Now they want me to do their work, no way I am not doing that. I told the representative that they need to make the calls and arrange for a new car. So she agreed and said she would get back to me. Two hours later, I called and left another voice mail. The representative finally called me back, and unfortunately I missed the call, but her message was «I tried calling you but a man answered and said I had the wrong #». Ok dumb dumb, that would mean you dialed wrong because my number is on my rental agreement and my voice mails. I’m getting pissed now. Now there rest of her voice mail goes like this «I could not get you another car, the Asheville location does not have any corporate cars, so I would advise you to call roadside assistance and have them tow you a car and switch the car out.» Many expletives by me…@#$%^&* Is this person kidding me. So just to put it on the record, I called roadside assistance to tell them this ridiculous thing that the Charlotte Hertz wants the to do for me and they were…“we don’t do that unless your in an accident or the car is broken”. During that conversation with roadside assistance you could tell that they knew Charlotte Hertz was just trying to dump me anywhere other than dealing with the issue. Roadside assistance agreed that the car should have never been in service with a faulty door, but unless the car was un-​dberivable, they would not come to assist in this matter. I was fine with the outcome with roadside assistance, but I wanted it on record the stupidity that Charlotte Hertz wanted me to do. There was another gentleman at our hotel who also had rented from Hertz (probably in that long line I saw), and said it took him 4 hours to get a car. It seems that between FEMA renting cars to go to SC to help the flood victims and the Nascar race, Hertz was scrambling to get cars for customers who had already reserved cars. I was not going waste anymore time on dealing with this whole car fiasco until drop off. During drop off we were met with a fantastic customer service professional by the name of Tenille. I explained to her the situation and what had happened. She could clearly see that there was something wrong with this car. In less than 3 minutes she was writing on the windshield some Hertz coding to take the car out of the rental pool. Tenille was extremely professional and apologetic about how this issued was NOT HANDLED. I told her my most concern was that if I had been in an accident, I had no idea what the integrity of that passenger side door would have been, and she totally agreed. Tenille did a price adjustment to the rental of 50% which I am sure was probably her maximum allowed amount. I certainly appreciated her making the adjustment, considering my aggravation and valid concerns.

Quite possibly the SLOWEST moving place on earth. Took over 30 mins to get a car.
Wait line is slow and long to get keys and then super long wait for car to be pulled up.
Doesn’t this place know that every other rental place is more efficient?
Avoid this one if you can.
