Hi-Line Garage

Purchased a car there last month and was treated horribly. I had been looking online for awhile for a used Honda with a standard transmission and the one they had for sale popped up and, it was what I was looking for. I called and was connected to a salesman by the name of Ken. I was interested and he said I had to get a buy order in that day. Fine.
I traveled about an hour and a half from where I live in South Carolina Monday to pick it up. Mind you Ken knew exactly when I was going to be there and said the car was ready. When I arrived and met Ken all he wanted to see was the check. I gave him the check and he proceeded to tell me that the car was in fact not ready because, and I quote, «You“re not a high priority to us, we sell high end cars as you see and this was just a trade in we decided to keep.» The test drive was a joke (probably one mile) because he «had better things to work on» So there I had to wait for over 4 hours only to see Ken getting crazy glue to put the emblem back on the grill in front of me. I proceeded to try and open the doors with the remote only to find out the batteries were dead. Even though Ken had said he «fully inspected and drove the car.
I have so many other things I got screwed by this man by but sitting here I am too fumed to continue. Truly a «Used Car Salesman» and I wouldn’t buy a hot dog from this guy or his company ever again

Only go here if you have an entire day to spend with a smarmy car dealer. I called ahead and asked to drive 1 car I know I want to buy. I told my sales guy over the phone that my deal would hinge on my trade in value. I have done all my research and know which car I want.
After I arrived, I was told I had to test drive the car for TWENTY-​FIVE minutes. They also refused to value my trade until I drove the car. When I asked him to take a shorter test drive, he asked me how that would be fair TO HIM, if I didn’t give the car a chance. Huh?
I gave him a last chance by telling him I didn’t have all day, and if he could put some numbers together I would consider the car. And to quit trying to finesse me. He then said no, THEY have a process and if I didn’t want to follow their process, then he wouldn’t give me a price.
I left angry and feel like I need a shower. Ick.
On a side note, I bought the same car in 45 minutes at the dealership down the road. No fuss, no lengthy process. Thank you VW of the Carolina’s

I just bought a car for my spouse from Hi-​Line. I’ve only used Unilocal to wirte 2 reviewes in the last 3 years, however; the customer service and professionalism we received from Hi-​line was so exceptional that I had to share. We got a great deal on our SUV and it truly looks like a brand new car inside and out including the engine. They were so honest, they told us about micro scratches that we didn’t even notice. This was our second purchase from Hi-​Line Garage. We love Infiniti vehicles, and need all wheel drive since we live about 2.5 hours away in Asheville. These vehicles are difficult to locate, and Hi-​Line gets them frequently. The first purchase was an Infiniti M 35x in April 2009 and we just traded that car yesterday for an Infiniti M 37x. We called Jimmy on Monday morning to see if the car was available, it was, so he had the car cleaned up and ready for us. In the ever changing world of real estate, we couldn’t leave Asheville, so had to wait until Tuesday. We showed up and the car was perfectly detailed. Hi-​Line seems to be very picky about the cars they take in, and this one didn’t disappoint at all. Jimmy took us for a great test drive and we decided this was the car we wanted to purchase. They were very fair on the value for our trade, and we quickly had a deal put together. We usually pay cash or have financing arranged prior to buying, they were even able to beat the rate our credit union offered. We were in & out very quickly. Jimmy programmed our bluetooth and we were ready to roll. The owner, Ali, was as nice as the first time we met him and he remembered who we were when we called the about buying this second car. Their customer service is top notch. Sales can be a tough business, and those not in the business of sales don’t always know what we go through. I would venture to guess some of the other reviews are a «bit» exaggerated, the reviewers a bit «sensitive». When someone calls me to see homes, if they haven’t been to a bank to get pre-​approved, they won’t ever get to sit in my Infiniti to go look at homes. We all have standards for doing business, and Hi-​Line has earned my business again. I’ll be to trade my SUV for another SUV soon!

Ali and his staff at Hi-​line Garage are wonderful to work with. Buying a car can be stressful if the dealer and you do not establish a sense of trust. The team at Hi-​Line Garage quickly made my wife and me comfortable when we made our first purchase back in April 2007. By taking the time to understand our preferences and needs, they helped us narrow down our options and we quickly closed the deal. Since that experience, we have purchased two more vehicles from Ali and some of our friends have also bought cars from him. The website they have is constantly updated with a stong selection of high end cars and Ali’s staff is professional and courteous. Like the no haggle pricing. Believe I got a good deal from a price perspective vs. a dealership. Sales tactics were not «honorable»
1. Tried the whole payment pricing… i.e. your payment will be XXX, sign here if that’s O.K.
2. I was given a dealer’s vehicle inspection which showed everything up to date and no issues. Within 1 – 2 weeks we experienced brake juddering in our steering wheel. I asked the dealer for the inspection’s that were conducted for Hi-​Line garage, and it clearly had a recommendation for the rotors and pads to be replaced. Hi-​Line has not acknowledged any of this, although it’s clearly documented.

We are now looking for a replacement for our Lexus SUV, and I just came across an MDX for sale at Hi-​Line listed online. Oh well — i will look elsewhere, but I might as well warn others what a bad place this is, while I remember. I will not waste my time again, as I will never go to this place again after our horrible experience before.
Here goes the earlier story…
A little over a year ago, we were looking for a BMW 3 or 5 series sedan, and required that it have 3 options. Manual transmission, navigation, and heated seats. We had checked out and test drove a few previously at other dealers, but had not yet found a manual transmission 5 series. We had driven a manual 3 series, and automatic 5 series, so we knew this was the car we wanted but with a manual. With some internet searching we found a nice used dark blue 550 and made the 45 minute drive over Independence blvd to check it out.
We talk to a sales rep and informed him that we want to check and drive the car. He forces us inside to try to shake us down and asks us questions about how serious we are and how we would pay for it. Cash in full, no trade in. we would buy in the next week or so once we found the correct car. We just needed to shift some money around. Maybe they were upset that they would not be able to make more money on the trade in and financing side.
We asked again to drive the car. We will not buy the car without looking at it and driving it first. So this is when things went really wrong. They give us some BS about not wanting to put mileage on the 30,000 mile used car, which is absurd. Like someone would not buy a car with 30,005 miles because of the extra 5 miles. We asked for another salesman to help us. No luck. This is a horrible way to do business and we vowed to never go back there, and I make sure to share this backwards tricks they try with anyone looking for cars. This is a terrible way to treat a potential customer. I have never EVER been so frustrated at a dealership… er stealership. I hate them.
Anyway, we love our dark blue loaded 535i with manual and nav, and even heated steering wheel and rear seats that we purchased a month or two later from another dealer. It did take a little while to find it, but they let us drive it and it was a done deal.
Stay away from the High-​Price Garage idiots.

Okay so we have been doing a lot car shopping lately. Have been to numerous dealers in town and since I am interested in a Saab, we decided to check this place out. Pulled in and the dealership looks nice. I guess our sales person was relatively new which is okay but it would have been nice to have questions answered a little better. This is where things went badly.
We asked to look at the inside of the car. The guy asked us inside and asked a few questions about me, etc. He got a copy of my license since I asked to test-​drive the car. After a few more questions about what we wanted to trade in, the guy left for a moment. When he came back, he kept asking more questions. He even outright asked my husband if we were going to buy today. I have to admit at this point I got annoyed. I mean, I hadn’t even seen the inside of the car yet. I simply said I would really like to see the inside of the car before we answered anymore questions.
The guy said okay in an annoyed way and he unlocked it and we headed outside. He went and got another guy to come out with him. His name was Phil. He let us know that the guy who was helping us (Btw, I don’t know his name because he never introduced himself) was new and so he was coming to help him out. First thing he asked was when we were looking to buy and I let him know it would be within the next 30 days. The guy immediately said well this may not be here in 30 days and I said that I had a few specific cars on my list to check out. The 9 – 3 is one I am most definitely interested in but I have yet to drive one and wanted to get a feel for the car before making a final decision. This is where things got really bad.
He pretty much in a nutshell said that they don’t allow their high end vehicles to be test-​driven unless someone is planning to buy. Thing was, I am planning to buy. And get this, it was a car with a $ 15,000 price tag. We aren’t talking about a $ 50,000 car. I brought that up and he pretty much said that they wouldn’t let me drive it. I have never been more embarrassed in my life. My husband was angry at this point and I was flabbergasted. We went to leave and as we left, I looked at him and that they had lost good business. HE ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME! And said in a very sarcastic tone «I bet we did.»
I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN! AND IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN, I WOULD AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Found these folks through a great deal on AutoTrader, but was very wary to do business out-​of-​state. After a number of inquiries and conversations, these guys really went above and beyond in answering my questions and alleviating my concerns about them as a dealership and the vehicle.
I wrote this entry to comment on what a pleasure it was to work with these folks. Zero pressure, very understanding and professional staff that operated a lot like a family business. Response times were always very quick, and any member on the team was happy to help if you picked up the phone. The website had plenty of detailed pictures including a video, and they do a fantastic job of inspecting and detailing the car prior to sale.
The sale itself was a breeze, with very understanding negotiations around pricing, warranty options, and shipping. Upon sale, they take care of as much of the background paperwork as they can, so when the vehicle is delivered, it’s usable immediately.
With how many shady and annoying dealers that are out there today, I would heartily recommend anyone who is looking for a used vehicle to check these guys out — and if they happen to look good, let them know I sent you :)
