Loved going here. It is locally owned and I had a great experience with the staff. Their prices were excellent, and I was out with two new tires in an hour. Plus, they open at 7am! They have relocated to 2514 North Davidson.

Kelly Tires, a mechanic and tire shop, is as old school and local as Central Avenue can get. They have been doing business for a long time; long before the hipsters arrived on Plaza Midwood, and even before the artists descended en masse there was Kelly tires in the 1980s housed in the old Sinclair gas station (bulldozed to make room for the current Plaza Midwood Library) along with other nearby legendary Midwood businesses that unfortunately are no longer in business.
However, Kelly Tires endured the hard times and was not lost to urban decay or «progress.» Now it is located on another former gas station on the intersection of Central Avenue and Thomas Avenue. It is impressive to note how a business has been able to weather the changes so well and keep doing what they been doing for years.
Mark (who runs the shop) and all of his mechanics are honest and do not overcharge for services. For those who are not mechanically inclined and afraid that they could get overcharged this place is a haven. There is a seating area, but it’s not deluxe. At times service can be a little unhurried because of the mechanic’s thoroughness and customer demand, but that’s a good sign to me because a lot of people bring their vehicles here, which just goes to show that Mark and his team are doing good honest work. Their work speaks for itself.
What’s more, if you need tires they can provide them as well, and can order those hard to find sizes if you need them. One problem is their hours; they are not open late on the weekdays nor are they open on the weekends. Despite the limited hours, this mechanic and tire shop is well worth the stop for the maintenance of your vehicle.
