Publix

A welcomed addition to Charlotte. I only wish it had come while I lived there. Sigh! I was a Publix regular in Atlanta during my Charlotte days. Deli and bar food (mardi gras wings and mango key lime pie) beats Harris Teeter any day.
Stopped in during my recent visit for the Panthers/​Arizona game and had my favorite sandwich from the deli: the Italian. Still as good as I remember it. The have a multigrain sub roll that I don’t recall that is pretty good.
This Publix looks pretty new and is very clean. I’m sure they’ll maintain it; its in Southend after all. Good look Charlotte.

So disappointed with today’s shopping trip. The produce section had no spinach. None. The almond butter is outrageously priced-I’ll go to Trader Joe’s next time. The key pads at checkout always default to Spanish.
Has anyone else noticed that the lower level parking deck smells like someone’s smoking weed? Yeah. Awkward.
I’ll definitely think twice before going back for weekly grocery shopping.

Best Publix that’s I’ve been to in the area. I was a bit confused having to park in a parking garage and then take an elevator to a grocery store, but after that it was smooth sailing. The layout is much better than the one in Cornelius. I saw a sign on the window that mentioned a maple bacon donut, and when I asked the person working in the bakery about it he said it was only available in the café after 4 PM. Alas, it was 2:00 and I WAS BUMMED!

Love this place! Very friendly and helpful. The only store that I can find fresh turkey thighs! Today I bought 4. Add in a 6 in Turkey sub, 2 packages of hummus, seafood salad, diet Arnold palmer, and ground Italian turkey sausage… $ 30! Yay!

This is the best grocery store experience I’ve ever had.
On occasion it can feel a little pricy, but it by far makes up for it with their incredible customer service in every department!

This is my favorite grocery store! This newer location at Southline is fantastic. It is always crowded but parking is manageable in their underground lot (unlike Trader Joe’s). This place is huge, clean and great selection. I love the produce, deli and prepared foods… Publix homestyle potato salad is to die for. I’d give it a few dings for the wine department (not as extensive as I’d have thought) but who’s counting.
There are always people around to help. Checkout is quick and they offer to take your cart to your car!
I used to think that Harris Teeter was «it» but Publix has set the bar.

Thanks to hurricane Joaquin, most of my weekend plans were cancelled. Since I had some unexpected free time, I decided to run my errands in super trendy South End rather than Cotswold.
Having lived in Florida, I am very familiar with Publix, but I was curious how well Publix would translate/​fit in the Queen City. The South End location does a good job of fitting in the landscape with its hidden parking deck, pedestrian scale street frontage and orientation to the light rail line. I had no problem finding a parking space (which is rarely the case at the Cotswold Teeter), and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Even though it was my first time in the store, I had an easy time navigating and found everything I needed in a reasonable amount of time. When I was ready check out, I was pleasantly surprised that the lines were only two carts deep (another vast improvement over the Cotswold Teeter).
The only downsides were that the beer and wine selections were not on par with what’s available at Harris Teeter and the prices really weren’t much cheaper than Teeter’s prices.
All told, I had a pleasant shopping experience and I’m excited that Cotswold is getting its own Publix soon!

The workers at Publix are always so friendly and helpful plus Publix has a great variety of assorted goods. We love Publix.

Why not Five?
a) The Parking situation.
b) Something I can’t put my finger on just yet.
c) Needs a Unilocal deal, Shrugs shoulders because I just don’t know but I’ll figure it out what’s missing and I believe it’s the WOW! Factor.
What works:
1) It’s new so everything is neat and clean.
2) Full Service deli, seafood and meat counter as I’m accustomed to including meal deals.
They could benefit from offering a punch card for all that you purchase via the deli as a meal on the go.
3) Self check outs that are not too sensitive.
4) Online coupons
5) Good looking catfish
6) Deli open and cutting meats and cheeses at 9pm while other places in town are like bye bye doll.

This is now one of my favorite Publix since I moved Uptown. Going to miss the Publix up in Cornelius and Huntersville which was my go to place. Staff there are amazing.
What I love about this Publix is the underground parking and protection from the rain. Two levels of parking. No stress when it comes to parking. Not like Trader Joe’s in Metropolitan.
Have my regular peeps like Maria, who manages the flowers and plants. She provides great info and knowledge when it comes to shopping for house plants, gift and types of plants that is right for you.
The staff here are so helpful and will show you where the item you looking for is located.
Here like 3 X a week cause it is fun shopping here. I do forget last minute items. There are free samples to try out their products.
Pretty good items at the cake and bread area. Publix makes fresh pipping hot bread right out of the oven. What a treat. Still soft and chewy the next day.
Couple of tips– New circular comes out on Wednesday. Check out latest specials. Breads always on sale every week. Like their fresh rotisserie chicken-​lemon, bbq, etc…
Lots of two for one deals. If they run out of supplies which they do. They will give you the one item at ½ price.
Have fun shopping.

There are a few spots in Charlotte that are severely missing on supermarkets and this part of South End was one of them. Or at least it became one after the nearby Healthy Home Market shut down.
Two underground parking levels that are well lit with no places for bad people to hide. I know, because I was here at 10:30 PM and was the only car in the upper garage. Nothing about. Four (five?) large elevators to get to the store level, which has street entrances too.
Inside the store, it’s the same high quality that we Charlotteans have come to expect from this supermarket chain. Wide aisles, bright lights, well stocked shelves, and shopping carts that work. Oh, and don’t forget their fab produce, bakery and meat departments.
Yep, Publix rocks. And it’s giving Harris Teeter a good run for it.

It’s clean, closer to home than wally world (yuk), I don’t have to have a rewards card, parking is a breeze, everyone is super friendly, prices are comparable to HT and are sometimes cheaper.
Overall I’m sold on Publix and super happy I don’t have to drive to the world of wacky wally anymore. Plus its on the right side of the road when I’m leaving uptown and going homd down south blvd which makes it more convienient when needing items for dinner at last minute!

This Publix just opened, so it’s all brand-​spankin’ shiny new. But to be fair, so the other Publix in Steele Creek is just as nice. They’re both about the same in terms of selection, I think. The produce is varied and fresh, and I love the amount of organic produce there is. Publix seems to be the friendliest store around here for vegetarian/​vegan choices, as well as people who prefer organic meats. There’s TJs, of course, but their produce is limited. (Because sometimes you just want one jalapeño, not a jalapeño pre-​packed with salsa ingredient friends.)
The staff is friendly and helpful, though the bag guy who had to run and find the price of my crackers, which weren’t scanning properly, came back 3 minutes later to ask me which aisle the crackers were in. Um, isn’t that something you should know? Then I think he was flirting with me, because he kept talking about my clothing and my nail polish, and REALLY insisted on helping me to my car. No, dude. It’s two bags, and check it out: I’ve got TWO hands.
Despite the weird bag guy, everything else was good. The elevator is really weird when you’re on it by yourself. What do they got in there? King Kong?
NOTE: PARKING LEVELS ARE WEIRD. Levels go Main Level (1), then P2, then P1 is the lowest level.

This is my first experience shopping in a Publix. I moved to Charlotte a year ago and was disappointed to see there was really only one grocery store chain in the city. Publix is a refreshing store to shop in, this location of course is new, the store is extremely clean and the staff is very excited to assist you.
The produce section is much better than the competition in the area and there is also a great fresh seafood section.
Overall I was impressed with the store, the parking garage and the friendly and courteous staff.

As many others have opined, this is a VERY welcomed addition to the South End area, and it is most convenient for me when coming home from my Uptown office!
So needing to get a few ingredients for another Saturday wine party, I decided to come here and finally check it out. And like our awesome CM Nikki said, it took like for friggen ever to build this place! I know it was supposed to be done well over a year ago… but who knows what the delay was, IT IS BUILT! YEAY!
Parking is on two levels under the store, which was necessary since there is no other land available adjacent to the store. And the elevators that are provided… GI-​NORMOUS! It reminds me of large Hospital elevators… I was almost expecting to see a Nurse wheeling a patient on a stretcher come on… but I digress…
Very nice layout to the store. Sure it’s brand new, so it’s smackin clean and smells good in there. Staff is very friendly and willing to help… this is one of Publix’s signature identities… strong Customer Service.
Lots of tasting stations… TIP: IF you’re hungry and don’t have any $$$ available, pig out here! Don’t know if that will last long being new and all, but man did they offer a LOT of freebies! I had to eventually say NO because I was getting full and I wanted to have some appetite for dinner!
They have an AWESOME selection of breads, like French, Italian, Cuban, and very freshly baked there! Closeby is a GELATO BAR! Nice!
Being «The Wineguy,» I thought their wine selection to be a little disappointing! For such a large store, I was HOPING for a more broader selection. Sure what they had was good, but the prices were only average for the area. I was hoping to see a LITTLE more competitive pricing, but at least they weren’t high. Still, if you want a good bottle of wine, you will be able to find one here… Maybe my expectations are just too high… I compare everything to the Taj-​Ma-​Teeter on Morrison…
What I REALLY loved is that they have a «make your own pizza» section! See my tip. You can buy a whole pizza dough ball (which makes 2 pizzas) or a pre-​rolled sheet which makes one. They offer chopped onions (for you lazies out there), mushrooms, peppers, and pizza sauce all right there. Of course you can find other meats and toppings throughout the store but they make it very convenient for you IF you are wanting to make a pizza… which I was!
I loved how they also stock a lot of «REFILL» bottles. For example, I was wanting some daily shower spray and febreeze deodorizer refills, and they had both! The TEET rarely carries those, and I have to subject myself to Wally World to buy so thank Publix for sparing me that pain!
Overall I really like this store. But like my buddy Kate T says, they don’t have many of my personal favorite items, so I still will continue to shop my Taj-​Ma-​Teeter, but will stop here on my way home when I need those daily items.

It’s here! All I needed was bread and parsley but I was near South End and jumped at the chance to check out the newest store.
First and foremost– PARKING! Plenty of room for everyone, and a gigantic elevator for all of our carts full of goodies. When the doors opened, I’m not going to lie, my first thought was «You could fit SEVERAL bodies in there.» Thankfully I said that to myself, not out loud. A guy on the elevator with me didn’t seem to quite grasp the concept of a larger elevator built for several people and their carts, even after his friend explained it to him. «Their CARTS? How many carts do you need??» Bless his heart.
I only needed a couple of things but I took a quick lap just checking it out. My tour took me down the most necessary aisle– ice cream– and y’all, they have Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Cores in stock. Sold!
I grew up with a Publix right down the road from my house, so I am well acquainted with their subs and bakery cakes. This one is a little further from me, with plenty of competition in between, so I don’t think this be my main store, but I can see myself becoming a frequent flyer.

It feels like it took 20 years for this place to be built, but the doors are finally open.
This store is my first exposure to Publix. Well, I take that back. I think I bought beer one time at a Florida store during Spring break a million years ago. I don’t remember anything about it, except I was probably under age. Sorry mom. Anyways, this location is a brand new store, so it’s fresh and clean from top to bottom. Right now, there’s an army of people working. Seriously, they have people in each aisle to help you. Granted, I’m sure this will go away once the newness wears off from this place.
Things I really like:
–There’s a parking deck. If it’s a raining, you can park and stay dry. And so far, it doesn’t make me want to stomp kittens like the Trader Joe’s deck over at the Metropolitan.
–You don’t need a reward card to get sale items. I can’t even begin to tell you how annoying it is to shop when you lose your VIC card for six months. Cashier: «Can I have your phone number?» Me: «No, you may not.» *awkward silence* «Oh, you need it to pull up my account? My bad.»
–Pretty solid deli, produce, and bakery areas
Noticeably missing:
–Local beers. I’m not sure if this is something that will change in the future.
Can’t decide if I love or hate:
–The traffic light. Is this thing helping or making things worse on South Blvd?
Grocery store wars are heating up here in Charlotte. In terms of who has the best deals, just make sure you pay attention. I noticed that some items here are cheaper than say the HT or TJ’s, but other items were much higher. You know the items that you buy every week, so make sure you figure out who has the best prices for YOUR personal shopping list.

I know many people are excited to see Publix pop up around Charlotte which is fine as it gives people another option. I remember the time in Charlotte when we had 5 major chains in town.
Yes, it’s a new store and its pretty but the staff is friendly almost to the point of being annoying. When I went to this store on a Wednesday night, everyone greeted you which was fine the first 3 times and then it started getting annoying. And they were in almost every aisle! Sometimes you just want be in your own little world and shop!
Most of the items in the store are grouped well but some things are not where you would expect them to be. But at least the signage is good. I thought some of their prices were good while others were a bit pricey. Not sure if that’s the norm or not for Publix since I haven’t done major shopping at Publix since I lived in Atlanta many years ago.
Parking is mostly below the store in a deck and you take one of 4 cavernous elevators up to the store. There are a few parking spots out front but I’d imagine these fill up fast.
Overall decent store but nothing exceptional. I may stop here once in a while but I don’t see this being replacing or being added to my list of normal shopping places.

After looking forward to Publix opening just down the street from me I could not pass checking it out Opening Weekend! It was a rainy down, however, a two story parking deck allows customers to avoid any rain when walking into the store and even better when you are loading your car with your grocery bags. Definite bonus in my book. The deck is newly constructed and offers very large spaces and multiple elevators to take to the store entrance.
Upon arriving on the store level entrance I was greeted by multiple Publix employees, everyone with a smile on their face. Having been to other locations in Charlotte the layout is very similiar, however, I did have to back track multiple times because I forgot things in previous aisles. The best thing was when I remembered an item there was an employee around to offer their assitance, and not only did they tell me where I could find the item, they took me to the aisle.
The deli counter was packed, but moved very smoothly and offered tastings of the speicals for the week, which I ended up getting since it was so good.
The seafood and meat counters offer a variety of fresh items as well as pre-​packaged options that are packaged fresh daily.
The overall layout, customer service and food I tasted and so far enjoyed this week are excellent. I look forward to the new edition to the neighborhood and look forward to getting my barrings down with their layout.

After much agonizing anticipation, the Publix in Southend is finally open! I avoided the opening weekend crowd and checked it out on a low key Monday evening. Definitely worth the wait.
I was a little skeptical about parking under the store, but the spaces are super wide and negotiable… Granted it wasn’t super busy but the lot seemed full and there were plenty of space between each car!!! Unlike some other parking garages in town… Cough, cough… metropolitan were it seems like more of a death trap to go to Trader Joes and Best Buy but I digress.
There are two levels of parking and four ginormous elevators. I guess so you and your buggy can make it down to the car with probably 10 other people and their buggies. What I was happy to see was plenty of bike racks so it just makes me want to ride my bike to get groceries instead of driving.
The store itself, granted new, was super clean and I got a little lost… But I will learn it all in good time. Produce was on point, from what I saw from the bakery it looked fairly good as well. They do subs and some prepared foods so I will have to check it out to see how they stack up, but it looks solid.
Staff was super nice and were pretty helpful. The u-​scan person wasn’t glaring at me like some other places, but it may just be the «new store effect» but hopefully not. A great addition to the Southend neighborhood!
