Before we found what we would call a good painter, we found what we would call a painter who was not so good. We did actually like Smitty, and he was someone who we found in the back of a local newspaper(I don’t recall which one). Plus, the price was right. Add in a web special and it was a steal. Over a span of a few hours one day, Smitty came by with a co-worker — which basically means that Smitty supervised while the other guy painted — and during that time, he painted a room over the garage. As they left, it didn’t look too bad, but by the next morning, you could see cracks galore. Cracks in the ceiling, cracks between the crown moulding, cracks everywhere. So in the interim, I had asked Smitty about his desire to paint the rest of the house, and he at least had said he would need to withdraw his bid for that. But he also has yet to answer if he will fix the room over the garage. At this point, it’s been fixed — not thanks to him. But I guess, since he hasn’t answered, that we know what the answer is. Shame really.
