I came here for lunch one day last week and was thoroughly disappointed. There was one gentleman working the register, while a young lady, i take her to be the manager, just paced back and forth behind the counter. She made no effort to help the young man, even though the line was almost out the door. There was hardly anything on the shelf. The salads looked soggy. I asked to have a fresh salad made and was spoken to rudely by the same young lady behind the counter. I also ordered soup… which had to be microwaved. In all, i waited almost 15 minutes for a salad and some soup. Needless to say, i will not be returning. It had to be the worst dining experience i have ever had. This place definitely gets no stars from me and i WILLNOT recommend it to anyone

Ultimate quick lunch stop. Delicious baked goods(as someone mentioned in a photo caption, I need a nap after 1⁄3 a slice of cake), premade(and hot) sandwiches, salads(not the slightest hint of a brown edged leaf anywhere) and drinks. I’ll be back

The guy working the counter is incredibly nice. I go to this restaurant often and he has yet to be anything but pleasant. The food is also very good. Sandwiches are

Great salads and sandwiches. Coworkers and I come here occasionally in the afternoon to get our sweet tooth fix. Amazing cakes, cupcakes and cookies. Staff is super friendly, especially Whitney who always makes us leave happier than when we walked in.

I’ve been to the dilworth location before and had horrible service, but figured I would give it another try since I wanted something different. We ordered a client lunch to be delivered from here about a week ago. I actually didn’t realize how close this location was to our office. Since I was busy I had them deliver. Please note you must order an hour in advance. I called and the lady who answered the phone was rude and I could tell she really enjoyed her job. Anyways I ordered 4 salad lunch boxes which came with crackers and a cookie. Delivery arrived on time, however they charged $ 26 for delivery only 3 blocks away!!! What?! The total for the salads were only $ 40 so I was pretty surprised when I got the check. The girl who took my order did not inform me of the delivery charge or tell me my total over the phone. That’s a little ridiculous to have delivery that much. I was expecting $ 10 max. Our salads were good and the chocolate chip cookies were awesome, but I probably wouldn’t order another client lunch from there again.

Employees were not very friendly. Slow service. $ 7 sandwhich that gets finished in 6 bites. Call me cheap but I think it’s a little pricey for the value. They say«comes with potatoe salad» an you get it in a ketchup cup and it’s frozen. Nice location and decoration. Food tastes good.

I’m hesitant to give this place a 4 star rating until I try it again, but I think it is overall a solid sandwich shop. It is definitely worth a try despite the portion sizes being a little small. I will definitely be back though to try the other selections. I may revise this review 1 star higher if some of the other sandwiches and dishes offer something a little more than the ham and brie sourdough I had. It was good, but I don’t think it was spectacular or justified a must experience type rating. TDB.

Nice little spot for lunch! Limited menu and a case of prefab sandwich and salad options. Even though they were out of what I wanted, I actually didn’t mind because it made me feel as if everything was more fresh. I had a Cuban sandwich and it was really good. The pickle was house made and made the sandwich. The options in the fridge case looked great and would be handy if you were in a hurry. I didn’t have dessert, but they all looked amazing. I would have given them 5 stars if they did espresso, I had to settle on a regular cup of coffee. Definitely will stop back in to try the roast beef and horseradish sandwich that I originally wanted.

I love this place. The food is excellent. Their sandwiches are the best and the best salads and soups. I wish they bottled their tomato vinagrette. The blue plate specials are wonderful too and usually sell out in the afternoon. The eat-in space is quite small with outdoor furniture so not super comfy but I still love it. I love the little back tucked away corner. Great place to have lunch, read and people watch; perfect break from work. P. S. I have used them to cater meetings and they did great as well.

Love this place. I come by when I’m in Charlotte for the day. Their Savannah salad with grilled chicken, Gorgonzola and sweet pecans is delicious. My other favorite is the Sophia Loren sandwich. A yummy combination of turkey and spinach artichoke spread on grilled sourdough. With a title like Sophia Loren, the sandwich had to live up to its name. Aside from the delicious entrees, they have beautiful homemade cakes and dinner items ready to pick up. If I lived in the area, I can guarantee we’d have a dinner from here one a week! The caramel cake didn’t have much flavor but I bet the chocolate one is to die for.

Went in for soup but came out with cake! They were out of the soup of the day, but the beautifully constructed little cake in the window caught my eye. I have no regrets… it was spectacular. Chocolate chip layer cake with toasted coconut & almond frosting. Easily one of the best slices of pastry I’ve ever eaten. Here’s what appealed to me: the cake was dense & moist. It had that homemade taste that reminded me of my mom’s chocolate chip bundt cake. The edges had caramelized against the heat of the pan so it added a great dimension to the flavor. The frosting-to-cake ratio was perfect for me. Doing double classes at the Y today to clear out my arteries, but it was totally worth it.

Salads are so fresh! Crispy crispy crispy. You know I need to eat salads for lunch all week to be healthy and all that. Well the chicken Caesar that you can pick up here is so fresh and crunchy it makes you forget it’s good green stuff. The soups are awesome also and change daily They have award winning sandwiches too. Try the Sophia or the Bogart. Walk in. Choose your item. Pay. Eat there or take out. Fast and easy. Great lunch spot. Fresh produce. Farm to table proactive. Good location for walking traffic. Indoor and in summer — outdoor seating.

I stopped into this café becasue I was parked too far from my original destination. The place was empty as it was long after the lunch hour(approaching 4PM). There were many salads and sandwiches available, along with breads and dessert items. It appears to be a nice café to have a quick lunch not far from your Uptown office. I left with a bag of sweet potato chips flavored with rosemary and dil. Odd you say? Yes, it sounded odd, but being the«sweet potato» that I am, I gave it a shot. Back in the car, it wasn’t long before I realized I was eating them like potato chips. It is a good thing I am open to new treats! They are quite the snack, light and flavorful.

Just wanted to update and say this place is awesome. This post isn’t even for other reviewers to see. Hoping the great people at Something Classic Café read this and bring a smile to their face. I’ve returned numerous times – get your 5 stars on. dmo out

Stopped by for a quick bite to take back to my desk. It’s a quaint little place with little seating inside and out. Very cute and light/airy. I picked up the Turkey, Brie & Granny Smith Apple Sandwich with a bottle of water. It was yum but I kinda wish they had a combo option. Maybe half a sandwich and a soup or salad! That would be awesome.

This wall flower needs a spotlight! Honestly, I thought this café was new since I have probably walked by this place a million times over the years and never once realized it even existed! The staff was really nice and there was a small but interesting array of sandwiches and baked goods to choose from. I had the Tarragon Chicken Salad sandwich– Yum! If you want a quick and healthy bite to eat, try Something Classic! BTW, the cookies are massive here!

My building lacks a cafeteria and these guys have just recently started selling lunch in the lobby. Awesome! Hats off to you my employer and the building property management company. So the meats are all natural, veggies are organic and the chicken is from North Carolina’s own Alison’s Family Farm. «These vegetable-fed birds are hormone & antibiotic free & humanely housed with open areas to range» — according to their menu =) Turkey & dilled havarti sandwich with cucumber mayonnaise. Fresh, fresh, and fresh. Only $ 6 for the sandwich and chips! Who said eating healthy is expensive?!

My girlfriend had been itching to go here for months, and when we finally managed to stop in, all the anticipation let us down a little. The food was alright, but I think we made the mistake of skipping their specialties. My tuna sandwich was nice enough, but definitely overpriced and $ 2.50 for a bottle of water a lunch time was too steep, on principle.(Not to mention that if a place promotes sustainable, environmentally conscious food you expect them to offer glasses instead of bottles — strange). A better time would be had if you capitulated on the price and ate what they are known for — desserts. They had at least as many varieties of cake as they did sandwiches which, in my humble opinion, is how all restaurants should be run.

My girlfriend works across the street from this place, so we’ve had occasion to eat here a few times. Nothing mind-blowing, but Something Classic has some solid offerings. A lot of their food is fresh but pre-packaged, which is good if you’re in a rush – you can grab a sandwich(I love their tuna) or a pretty sizable, good salad(they have a great tomato and mozzarella, by the way). They also have other goodies like this: yogurts, wraps, that sorta thing. All pretty good, if a little on the expensive side(hey, you’re in uptown, after all). Something Classic also has a great selection of teas and coffees, so make use of that. Best of all, though, they have GREAT sweets – cookies, muffins, that sort of thing. Try their good old fashioned Chocolate Chip. You won’t be disappointed.
