Super 8 Charlotte Amusement Park

This motel is listed as a two star establishment on other sites and I would say that is a pretty accurate assessment. This motel is located a couple miles from Carowinds so it’s a convenient place to stay if you plan to go to the amusement park. They are located in a questionable part of town. It was remote and across from a Martin Marietta quarry. There is a Waffle House next door if you’d like a meal otherwise you’d have to drive miles away to find a grocery, drug store, or restaurant.
The front desk attendant was pleasant and checked us in quickly. He wasn’t much help when it came to helping us locate a nearby store to pick up a few essentials, but that’s what mobile phones are for, right? We went to our room which was clean and had the basics, two double beds, a old school television, microwave, mini fridge, mini coffee maker, and a clean, functioning bathroom. We got the kids bathed and in bed.
The next day they offered a Continental breakfast. I did not see what was available, but by they time my husband went down to get us something to eat there wasn’t much left. We ended up with four cups of OJ, a slice of bread with some jam, a small store bought pastry, and two small cups of raisin bran with no milk. We ate, checked out, and went on our way. This place fills your basic needs. If you need an inexpensive motel close to Carowinds this will work just fine.

Aweful property. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Room was dirty, The security latch on door was missing. I had to fix the deadbolt on door so it work work! The window lock was broken also so I had to jam something in the slider track to keep from being murdered in my sleep!
The toilet was never cleaned from previous guest (s), and the sink must not have ever been cleaned with water, becuase the sink did not drain! The water presure in the shower was actually painful!
The hallway infront of the room next door was flooded constantly and the carpet made a «slush» sound every time you walked down the hall.
I paid cash, but the front desk could not print me a reciept, they said computer didn”t work… so they probably pocketed the money.
Super 8’s website says the property was renovated in 2011… no way possible!
