I came to the midnight drag show for my birthday, and holy cow it was a night to remember! Every Saturday at midnight they have a drag show, which I really enjoy. Basically, this is a gay bar in an old house in Dilworth. There is a downstairs bar, but most of the action happens upstairs. Downstairs has seating areas and lounge spots, while upstairs is where the main bar is and where the show occurs. One week it seemed as though my boyfriend and I were the only two in the bar, and the next weekend there was a line out the door! I believe there must’ve been a celebrity queen there that night b/c of the $ 12 cover charge and the place was absolutely packed. You could not move upstairs. In fact, the bartenders could barely get around to do their job b/c there were so many people up there. It made for a good time, but was a bit uncomfortable. Some of my friends stayed downstairs and missed the show b/c they are claustrophobic. I am a craft beer drinker, and this is definitely not the place to get a craft beer. There is no draft beer. They have local cans, but they’ll cost ya. Best bet while you are here is a liquor drink. The bartenders will always make you something fruity and fun. We enjoy coming here for the drag shows, but the shows are likely the only time we will spend here. It’s just not a place we would randomly hang b/c it’s either dead or extremely busy and we are craft beer drinkers. We all had a blast for my birthday though! It was definitely a party.

This place has made so many improvements. Still not super welcome to queer ladies but has a great bar. I prefer early evenings and quiet chats in the summers on the balcony. But night time is fun, too!

Closed on various days… Understandable when it’s a holiday but advertise it on the web page or have it stated in an answering machine.

One of my favorite places for seeing drag shows. An absolutely adorable little house that hosts RPDR queens and pulls in a large crowd for the shows. So friendly and cozy! Stage is a bit weird — very long and thin, so best to get tour viewing spit early. Best in warm weather when they can use the outdoor space. Often has free show on Sunday evenings.

Nicely repurposed home, upstairs only bar, lower spaces are just for lounging I guess. I have never seen anyone down there to find out. Nicely appointed. Clean bathrooms, pool table down and small dance floor up with patio for smoking and HUGE projection TVs. Can’t miss a thing. Hidden from the street it’s set back. Expect younger 20somethings and loud music.

Old historic home turned into a classy gay bar. Came on karaōke night and it was a lot of fun. Definitely will be coming back!

This is the perfect spot for the LGBT community. I believe this place combines the sophisticated AND eclectic of the Charlotte scene. I came on a Tuesday and stayed to do karaōke. The crowd was super supportive and the energy stayed upbeat. The bartenders are both AMAZING& have electric personalities. The drinks were literally perfect. They even make their cocktails with fresh squeezed juices. They have a pool table and grand piano in separate rooms on the first floor. Definitely a place to come to meet the«pretty people»

Always have a blast when I go… Staff is friendly to everyone. Keep up the great work. I have been coming to this bar since I moved here two years ago. I love how the bar is open 7days a week. You don’t get that often. And every night is a different crowd. If you have never been you have to try it out.

The best bar in Charlotte. Everyone is welcomed whether you’re gay or straight. If you need a home feel like atmosphere this is the best place to be. The owners Jeff and Kolby are the best people you will ever meet. The bartenders and staff are always smiling and ready to put a smile on your face. You will feel loved and welcomed. They are open everyday of the week and offer a variety of activities. Sunday and Tuesday they have karaōke and if you’ve never been you are missing out. Monday is martini nights for 5 dollars! Wednesday’s are game nights. Thursday’s are retro night with wide variety of drink specials. There is a drag show on Saturday nights and Sunday evenings, it’s the best in the city. There is a DJ play I a variety of music during the week and weekends. You will absolutely love it at 316 and you will always want to be there! :)

Visiting from out of town, my partner and arrive, the bar has maybe 12 people sitting there. We stand at the bar, the«bartender» is preparing a couple of cocktails, head down, does not look up, does not acknowledge that we were there. After he delivers his drinks, he turns away from us and leaves the bar, comes back and still doesn’t acknowledge our presence. Over 5 minutes has passed by this point. He then decides to wait on two other people who arrived after us. That was the tipping point. We walked out. When I’m in town again, I will never go back.

Visited this little gem on a trip from Los Angeles. Pulled up around 9:30, walked in, and it was pretty dead. Left to grab some food, came back around 10:30, way more people… and asked to pay a cover, even though we were just there for free an hour before. After that, everything was fantastic. Great atmosphere, very comfortable, great drinks, fun bartenders, and a hilarious drag queen host! Will definitely come again if I ever visit Charlotte!

My favorite neighborhood bar. Great music, super friendly staff… even a fireplace! I’ve taken a few dates here(even though I am straight) and love it. I haven’t been to a theme night yet, but looking forward to it!

Where else can you grab a great cocktail, hang with fun folks, enjoy a pretty bar *and* on certain night catch Roxy C Moorecox performing cabaret at the downstairs piano bar?! The Bar at 316, holmes. While it’s technically classified as a gay bar, it’s a great place for just about anyone. Bartenders and staff are very friendly and everyone’s there to have a great time. As I mentioned, you absolutely must check out Roxy’s act — she’s fabulous on all accounts. Plus, as Jimmy mentioned they host a variety of specialty nights that extend beyond Roxy’s cabaret performances… karaōke, special priced cocktail nights, etc. Since this is also a private club, be aware that if you’re not a member(or guest of a member) you’ll have to pay a slight cover — $ 3-$ 5 depending on the evening. Cheers!

Tuesdays aren’t a big night in any city, but until I arrived here I was really starting to lose hope on Charlotte. I was hanging out with Jeffrey H.(of Unilocal DC — nay Boston — fame) and we were looking to have a cute gay time while enjoying a cool, refreshing adult beverage. Not to much to ask for, right? We were about to give up after failing to find aforementioned items in several places. Then a bartender told us to check out The Bar at 316 because they were having karaōke. Score! As soon as he mentioned it I remembered being here when it was Liaisons. Fortunately I had fond memories of my last visit, so it was an easy decision to come here. Karaōke was definitely interesting. Everyone was surprisingly nice and the straight boy bartender gave me enough eye candy to keep my interest all night. The quote for the night(possibly the week/month/year) came from a guy who came up complimenting my bone structure. He digressed into gossiping about a young blonde boy that apparently wasn’t as friendly as me. «Honey, he’s trash. That’s one load his mother should have swallowed.» Did I mention the hot bartender? Either he was flirting back or the drinks here are really cheap because 3 Ketel One & tonics and 3 rum & diet Cokes were only $ 35… plus we got free shots when we first got there. Southern hospitality. I love it!
