I had such a fabulous experience with Three Little Birds. I designed some save-the-dates for my in-laws’ wedding and wanted to find a quality printing press that would print a low quantity at a good price and with a quick turn-around. After some initial searches, producing ridiculously high price points for the low print quantity(or turning me away altogether), I decided to go the more«DIY» route and commission a commercial printer, such as FedEx/Kinkos or Staples, to do the job(they print and trim for a fair price). After all, this design only necessitated digital printing(as opposed to embossing/foiling) so why drop the cash for a fancier printer when it wasn’t absolutely necessary and my «client» was on a budget. I’m not the type who waits until the last minute for anything(I’m an attorney by trade), but after multiple trips to different FedEx locations to try the different printers(every printer is different!), I just felt that the colors were printing inconsistently – and differently from the samples I had printed several weeks prior. I thought I would search around town to see if any local paper stores would take the last-minute order; I had a 48-ish hour deadline(calling around Thursday, needed pick-up sometime Saturday). But by mid-day on Thursday, all of Charlotte was shutting down for an impending winter storm so my already fast deadline went from 48 hours to 12. Kristen(TLB’s owner) responded via email to my online quote request almost immediately, asking for some more information, and once we got on the phone, she told me she could finish the job by that evening. She even played around with different papers than what I’d initially requested once she heard the full nature of the save-the-dates(New Year’s Eve wedding, I was sewing sequin-filled bags onto the paper so the design itself was fairly simple), and her suggestion yielded a fabulous improvement. Although I would have liked to spend less than $ 2/page for printing, the high quality(not to mention the time saved on trimming) was money well-spent! When it comes around to making the invitations, I’ll definitely be back!

The customer service was amazing with TLB! The staff worked with me to create my wedding invitations as well as our hotel welcome bags. Any problems that came up with my order was addressed and corrected by the entire staff. I would highly recommend using them for stationary needs!

Kristen Stewart’s reply is an example of what is wrong with her and her business, Three Little Birds. Rather than taking ownership of her mistakes and working to improve customer service, she places the blame on the customer. Apparently she never learned the motto, «the customer is always right.» Rather than being apologetic for her errors, she would rather attempt to throw her customers under the bus. Is this the type of person you want to trust your wedding needs to? We did not provide Kristen 5 supplemental orders as she claimed. We requested additional invitations for existing orders that she said she could handle without a problem. If she didn’t think she could handle the orders and deliver on time, she should have never agreed to take them on and she should have recommended that we take our business elsewhere. Most of the statements in Kristen’s reply to my review are untrue and in my opinion, highly unprofessional. The fact is that she failed to deliver a quality product on time and meet our expectations. If you look elsewhere online, you will find that people have complained about Three Little Birds on Google reviews and the business also had a complaint filed against it through the Better Business Bureau. I was even at a dinner party recently where someone else mentioned they had started with Three Little Birds for their wedding invitations, but ended up going with another stationary company for their wedding invitation needs, because the customer service was so poor! Rather than apologizing for her mistakes, she chooses to be unprofessional and not accept blame. If you end up hiring her, expect many e-mails back and forth arguing about her poor quality control and about outrageous unknown costs. She must have been on the debate team in high school, because she sure loves to argue and she won’t ever admit she’s wrong! Maybe if she spent more time correcting her customer service mistakes and apologizing to customers, rather than e-mailing and posting excuses on message boards, she’d be a lot more likely to have repeat customers. Instead, with her reply, she helped me remember the worst part of our wedding planning experience. Do yourself a favor a favor and go to the Paper Skyscraper in Dilworth. It’s a five minute drive from Three Little Birds and from the sounds of their great Unilocal reviews, I imagine you’ll have a much better experience. Good riddance, Kristen!

Same experience as the other reviewer. I did not get what I asked for even after several proofs. For example, I asked for a danty/abstract BLUE bird on my cards and they gave me a BROWN sparrow! It was frustrating and ultimately I went with flowers instead because I already paid and was stuck with them. :(the one part of my wedding i was not satisfied with! Way over priced for the quality!

I’ve used Three Little Birds a couple of times. As the Maid of Honor I was overwhelmed attempting to plan two bridal showers and bachlorette party all while packing up for a move. I found Three Little Birds and a smattering of other companies that specialized in creating invitations. The bridal showers were 4 weeks apart from each other and I had bought invitations to one with recipe cards on-line. Loved the recipe cards and the box, hated the invitations. I went in for 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon and showed them the recipe cards and envelopes and told them what I was looking for. The other bridal shower I had an idea of what I wanted and they worked with me. By Wednesday I had the proofs. I still had to wait to OK everything since I didn’t yet know a location and specific information. I called them up and explain the situation. They were more then happy to work with me and I gave them the things I did want to alter. After I found out all the information and authorized the proofs, I had the invitations and envelopes within a week. They saved my butt. Because of that great experience I went back and had them make the custom invitations for the bachlorette party. I wanted to do stick figures that resembled the bride and bridesmaids. I had sent them pictures of the bridal showers to get the hair type and color down. When I got the proofs a few days later, I was over the moon when they did flattering detailed portraits of all of us for the invites. Needless to say, the Bride made sure she got copies of all the invites for her scrapbook and loved them all. If I ever need anything else, you best believe I’ll be going back there! The ladies here are AMAZING. As long as you have a clear idea of what you are looking for they were execute seamlessly and the final product will be better then you thought without breaking the bank.

Three Little Birds is a stationary shop tucked in the South End area of Charlotte. There are small trinkets(i.e. bags, coasters, etc), boxed cards and even better: custom-made stationary located in this cozy store! Most customers are brides-to-be but the company also services corporate businesses and the average Joe looking for extra special business cards, party invitations or the like. With hundreds of papers, fonts and ribbons, Three Little Birds creations are sure to please the eye and owner Kristen Stewart aims to please each customer she encounters. I would say go well in advance for custom pieces they can take awhile to get them done but the outcome is great. Also, when visiting the store, be sure to check out the sales table that usually has great items up to 50% off and ask about their candy bars(think: glass containers filled with jelly beans and chocolate covered pretzels) a fairly new service they provide.
