This is a fairly common Vermont fast food establishment, a creemee stand. This one, like many others also serves a lot of other fast foods(like a Dairy Queen). This stand is on the southeast corner of route 7 and Middlebrook road, however, both Unilocal and Google Maps incorrectly show it on the west side of route 7. The creemees here are pretty standard, available in vanilla and chocolate and served in generous portions in cheap wafer cones. They do not offer the flavor infusions or mixes that some of their competitors offer. The french fries here are clearly frozen in origin, have no skin and the ones we ordered tasted mostly like a stale grease. I cannot recommend these. While the food here was not stand out in any way, there was something that seemed very authentic and almost historic about this location. This is a solid and standard choice if you want to try a creemee. The regular scooped ice cream here is better than the creemee but is comparable to Basikin Robbins.

Maybe I’m just partial because I am from Charlotte, but I honestly think that Uncle Sam’s must be the best creemee stand of all time. Their ice cream aside, which is unparalleled, it’s really all about the food. Calories and trans fat be damned, you need to order a peppersteak and the onion rings. The onion rings are possibly the best onion rings I’ve ever had. Now, I know they come out of a bag, but still, there are a lot of crappy frozen onion rings in this world. They’re so fucking good… they’re like onion fries almost. None of that bite-the-onion-ring-and-the-slimy-onion-falls-out crap. Oh, and I love that bucket that sits under the air conditioner. Reminds me of childhood. Oh I wish I could be there right nooooowwwwwwww…
