At Last... A Hair Color Studio

Becca is a color genius. I get compliments on my hair weekly– they all say they’ve never seen such a good ombré from almost black to light blonde. I’ve gone to the Beehive also to test the waters but nothing comes close. She’s got a ton of great care tips and product suggestions. As someone that dyes her own hair constantly she is extremely experienced.

I moved to Charlottesville recently and decided to start looking for a place to get my highlights and low lights maintained. I chose this salon due to the positive feedback on Unilocal.I requested a stylist with experience but my stylist that I was given seemed very unsure. Confidence will get you a long way and her lack of confidence made me nervous. I should have stuck with my gut feeling. The color that she gave my hair, after multiple advice tips from other stylists, looked good. Unfortunately, she did not get all the areas, and totally missed my hairline, so when I left the salon I looked like I didn’t even get my roots touched up which was the primary reason for me even going to a salon. I spent a lot of money to look like I still needed to get my hair done. On the upside the stylists seem nice but if you go there I would suggest asking for someone who has more experience.

Finally! A stylist who really cares about making my hair look as good as it possibly can. I moved to Cville several years ago and began the nerve wracking process of finding a hair stylist that I could trust. I’ve been very picky over the years due to a devastatingly bad, short haircut as a child. I also have thick, and borderline-​coarse hair, with a natural curl/​wave that makes it more difficult to control. After trying two other places that weren’t great, I found Haley P. Haley took the time to really find out what I liked about my hair, and what I wanted to change, and had some good suggestions about the direction we went in. I was tentative at first but by the end of my first appointment, I was sold. She has been cutting and coloring my hair for over 5 years, and I won’t go anywhere else. Besides being a superb colorist (she was able to match my natural hair color to cover some grays, and it looks just like my hair did before I started coloring it), she has a great artistic eye. More importantly, over the years, she has debulked my hair and has given it lots more definition while still keeping it at the length that I like. Haley is extremely talented and truly makes me feel like I’m her only client, and that her only job is to make me look fantastic. I am so glad I found her. She is skilled and takes great pride in her work. If you aren’t happy, she isn’t happy. The salon is also very nice and they have an excellent selection of products (not your typical Redken, Joico, etc. but new, effective, natural product lines). If you are looking for a new stylist, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Haley for taking such good care of me!

I went here while I was living in Charlottesville — I found Elizabeth there! However, I go to a stylist not a salon, and when Elizabeth moved to Moxie I followed her. I give Elizabeth 5 stars all the way! But she’s not there anymore. Check out my full review of her on Moxie’s Unilocal page.

Becca did a fantastic job with my cut and color. She is a great listener and was able to translate my description into a hair cut I was thrilled with. My hair is super fine and straight so it takes a skilled stylist to cut with precision while avoiding the roughly chopped look. She did a fantastic job coloring my hair as well. I wanted a naturally sun-​kissed look and she nailed it. I would recommend her to anyone in search of a stylist.

I’ve been looking for a good salon in C-​Ville and I came across ‘At Last’ here on Unilocal.I tried it and really liked the friendly staff. Becca was my stylist. She was very friendly and took her time to do my color. I’m very happy with my bold new hair color and may try an even bolder, blonder look next time!
Above all else, I really like the friendly, client-​oriented atmosphere. And, they guarantee their work.

This is by far the best salon in Charlottesville. The hair color and cuts I’ve received here are at exceptional levels. I especially love the owner. The salon is fun, the people are so friendly, and the overall vibe is perfect for being pampered. Love this place!!!

I’m in C’ville for extended training and was desperately in need of a haircut. Due to Storm «Snochi», I was able to get an appointment same day. Check-​in was organized and Dana offered me a drink.
I had my hair cut by Lori, who is also the salon owner. In short-she’s awesome. As soon as I pulled my hair out of its bun-​mess, she knew the problem. Lori gave me a beautiful face-​framing cut that works with my curls. I love it. Why couldn’t my guy at home deliver that? My only regret is that I can’t fit color into this trip too.
Price was completely reasonable for the time and skill; a bargain even. Of course, I may be jaded by DC prices. Folks-​invest in the hair, you see it multiple times a day!
Lori and Dana-​you were the best. Thanks for fitting me in. I wish you were closer to DC, you’d be my new go-​to place.

I’ve been meaning to update my review and I’m finally getting around to it. At Last is cool on a color niche kind of way, but overly-​expensive. They charged me for the 30 – 45 min. consultation in addition to my color. The team here is super-​friendly but my colorist was new, I think. I ended up going to Salon 730 in F burg and my new colorist showed me all the places in the back of my hair that the colorist at At Last missed.
Honestly, I went in with a funky, ombré-​hair-​color-​thing going-​on and they fixed it. But it was a bill of about $ 325. I’ve NEVER paid that much in my life. After seeing the back of my hair, and paying normal prices elsewhere, I felt totally taken advantage of. Never again.
A good experience with a friendly staff but the prices are gouging!

Awesome boutique style salon with a fun vibe. The staff is friendly, experienced and knows what their doing. TRUST their advice — Color experts! The service is fantastic and worth the extra bucks you might have to shell out, but guess what? You will LOVE your hair and feel great — and yes, you’ll wanna come back for more :)

After trying some of Charlottesville’s «top-​rated» salons for color, and being dissatisfied over and over (my color always fades out or gets very brassy looking), I completely hit the jackpot with this place. They use great products, and they are very educated and passionate about what they do. I felt like I was in good hands… they didn’t just do whatever to me, they gave me options, explained what they were doing, and offered a lot of great suggestions on how to make my color last. I was very pleased with the final product. I went to Elizabeth and she was awesome. I don’t know why you’d go anywhere else for color. Cannot recommend enough!

I recently had my hair colored by Elizabeth and it looks amazing! I tried three different salons before I found this gem. Elizabeth took my hair from hot mess to HOT! Definitely will recommend this place to everyone I know!

Danielle at At Last is really awesome (everyone else there seems really nice/​good also but she is the only stylist I have personally gone to.) I was recommended to Danielle by a couple of law school friends since my usual hair guy in DC was totally booked up and I was too lazy to drive up there. She is incredibly nice and has a good eye for color. The first time she did my hair she did bold red and blonde highlights which looked awesome but unfortunately turned pink after washing (my dry hair’s fault, not hers). She got me back in within a week to fix the highlights and did a really good job correcting my hair so it looked strawberry blonde again (natural hair color) with jus a few highlights. She didn’t charge for the correction even though it took a solid two hours and was professional and really nice about it. I would definitely recommend her if you’re looking for a good colorist or stylist in Charlottesville. The salon also has snacks and free sodas, etc. and just has a really good atmosphere in general. Definitely recommend!
