Yes, everything Scott H. said is true. This is a very nice baseball stadium and one of the best I have been to see a game. There are not many bad seats here. Plenty of food carts to choose from to get your hotdog or hamburger. Tickets are $ 24.00 person and they do take credit cards. I plan on going to more games here in the future.

Davenport Field is an impressive college baseball facility — especially for those of us who remember the baseball«facility» before Davenport Field opened. It was pretty sad — I had seen high school ballparks that were nicer. I worked for one of the college radio stations as student, and in my last year my buddy and I decided we wanted to broadcast a baseball game. Nobody was broadcasting them locally, the local radio station that owned the rights to broadcast all UVa sports didn’t care one bit. The press box was in shambles, and we couldn’t even get a phone connection to broadcast to the studio. We had advertised it, so we wound up using a mobile phone, and set up a makeshift broadcast«booth» in the top level bleachers. That’s how much the University and community valued the baseball team. Boy have times changed. When Brian O’Connor took over the helms of the Virginia Baseball program in 2004, he instantly turned the program into a national powerhouse, with 10 straight postseason appearances and two trips to the College World Series. As with anything, success breeds growth, and Davenport Field has evolved since its 2002 opening to be one of the finest baseball facilities in college baseball. And both the alumni and community have responded. Unlike basketball and football games, the student attendance at Virginia baseball games tends to be small. But the stadium still attracts a lot of fans — mostly alumni and Charlottesville«townies». It’s a very family-friendly atmosphere, with many fans bringing their kids to share in the experience. My only complaint is minor — we sat along the 1st base side in the reserved bleachers section, and the section is completely disjointed from the Grandstand area. Perhaps in a future expansion they can make it all a bit more connected so that it’s not as cumbersome to go to the Grandstand and enjoy the concession. Outside of that small complaint, we really enjoyed our first game at Davenport Field, despite the delay and threat of a rain out. We look forward to going to future games. Maybe a Super Regional later this year?
