Definitely the place to go to for any repairs. I’m no stranger to the car repair shop cliché of getting dimed-and-nickled for needless repairs but Edgecomb’s is a stranger to the community of poor form. I have taken my Subaru to them at least 6 times for semi-costly repairs($ 200+) and they always fix exactly what needs to be fixed and won’t touch anything they believe to be minor/safe to drive on(unless, of course, you want them to). Today I was able to use a loaner car(an awesome feature of a small dealer/repair shop like this) for an issue I was previously unable to identify. Nothing major was found and they didn’t BS me about it either. It feels like I have a trustworthy group of friends at the shop. I love love love these guys and will continue my decade of loyalty to them for as many years as I am in the area.

I bought a used Volvo at Edgecomb’s. The experience was great. Going to dealerships, both new and used, gives me the hee-bee gee-bees. We got to Edgecomb’s on a quiet Saturday afternoon, mentioned what car I was interested in, and Buck sent us out on a test drive. No muss, no fuss. There was no sales pitch. The price was right around the KBB value. The offer on my trade-in was nearly double what a dealership was offering. I know more about cars than my dad, but the average sales guy doesn’t know that… single woman syndrome. I was shopping in C’ville because I wanted to bring my dad along… but that wouldn’t be necessary here. Buck took my deposit and valued my trade-in, and Charlotte called me on Monday to take care of the paperwork. She got me a loan at a local bank that had a lower interest rate than my credit union… and that’s saying something! Because I was shopping from out of state, things were a bit protracted. The in-house service warranty was going to be a bit tricky, but when Charlotte was able to get me the option to extend the original factory warranty, which follows me even if I move far away, problem solved. I’ll still probably take my car there for service when I’m in town. She also dealt with the Maryland MVA… I took the car to get inspected, since MD’s inspection is sick and has to be done in state… sent her the form… got my plates a couple of weeks later. Virginia folks probably will go super speedily, since they can do the inspection there. Charlotte was really easy to work with. We ended up dealing with most of the details over text, since I can do that at work. When, 2 weeks after buying my new(to me) car, the seat adjustment stopped working, she was indignant that it better be under warranty, and that my local Volvo folks better take care of it for free. (It was. My local Volvo dealership gave me a loaner, replaced the stripped knob, and didn’t charge me a dime.) I always felt like I was being taken care of, and instead of getting my hackles up like at a dealer, thinking of these folks warms my heart. Sappy, I know. But I put off buying a car for YEARS because of the anxiety of getting ripped off. I wouldn’t have waited if I’d known it didn’t have to be like that.

WAY overpriced, I constantly feel like they are trying to scam me to get the most money out of me as possible and the work they do is mediocre at best. I only continued to go here because the location was convenient for me, but after they charged me $ 70 for a NON-synthetic oil change(and nothing else, not even a tire rotation, just the oil change) and not even a week later my car was flashing the oil light, following a few other less than impressive experiences here, I won’t be back. When I give bad reviews I usually try to come up with at least one positive thing to say about the place but I cannot come up with a single positive for this place.
