It had been years since I’ve been inside a Journey’s, however after seeing it on a slideshow called«10 Places To Avoid After 30» I decided to pay it a visit. After all, I am only 29 and ½, so perhaps I can get away with it! As soon as a walked in, my eyes met the stoic expressions of three teenage girls behind the counter. They must have been deep in thought because they all managed to be staring blankly toward the entrance while people were navigating the shoe displays. «Did Jenny really make out with that 25 year old guy that still wears his high school letterman’s jacket at the senior party last night?» «Will that hot 18 year old come through with a dime sack at school on Monday?» «How long does it really take to get an acceptance letter from PVCC once I’ve applied?» .these among other dilemmas any teenage female would face are what I imagined would hinder them from honing in on helping customers. As the three of them contemplated all facets of teenage angst, parents would leave their children unattended to rummage through the displays while they approached the counter to ask about shoes and request sizes. After approaching the counter to ask for help myself on some shoes and receiving monotone responses with vacant expressions, I decided this is indeed not the store for me. I’ll buy the same shoes online for cheaper and save the money it would have cost to hire three warm bodies to convert oxygen into carbon dioxide. Sincerely, A Crotchety 29 ½ Year Old That Worked Retail When I Was a Teenager and Was Awesome at It(even though I know it gets stressful around the holiday season and breakups are hard)
