I have been going to Nails Design in Albemarle Square for several years and I continue to be delighted. No other place comes close. I look forward to going and I feel genuinely cared for. The review of 1÷3÷16 states they don’t have customer service. I am stunned at this comment. This business is run by two respectful, low key Vietnamese families: they don’t gush and they are not fake friendly. They are kind and and enjoy friendly joking. I love it that they keep the salon’s atmosphere calm (yeah !! no TV, no music) so that during the pedicure, including the AMAZING massage, I can RELAX. A haven for REST. They are 100% professional and knowledgeable. The salon is spotless. In all these years I have never once been cut or had a nail problem. I usually see Sandy but Lynn, Anna and Tony are equally skilled. Sometimes the owner’s two absolutely adorable and unobtrusive children are reading or playing a quiet game. Thank you Nails Design for being so good to me!

When you walk in you never feel welcome and almost feel that your being there is an intrusion. There are too many other good nail salons in Charlottesville.

Walked in without an appointment and was seen right away. Got a mani/​pedi that looks great. My daughter has been there, too, and had an equally great experience. Will definitely go back again.

Wow! What a great nail salon. Competent and friendly service, with many little extras you don’t expect, without asking and without any extra charge. Friendly staff to converse with. And the BEST massage chairs! Eat next door at the Carving Board afterwards for some very good lunch fare.

As per my wife: I got a really nice French tip gel manicure as my first experience. 3 weeks later I returned to have them take off the polish, as they said they would. That was fine. After that, I decided to get a regular manicure while there. That was a mistake. The girl pulled at my cuticles and clipped my skin instead. A day later and several days later, I had fringed skin below my cuticles. She buffed my nails to take down the ridges, but she went too far. My nails are very thin now and I’ve had to file them back because they are breaking. Not going back to take another chance.

Tried this place for the first time a week ago. Other than regular nail growth, my manicure is flawless. Will definitely go back.

So, I have been looking for a new place to have a pedicure. The weather is starting to warm up and so I figured it was a great time to have one done. Went through all of the Unilocal reviews and was impressed with the reviews for this place. Plus a $ 25 pedicure? Great! Wellllll. Not so much. I am not sure why I had such a different experience than everyone else, but here is mine. The employees were friendly, but my pedicure was extremely short and included no foot/​leg massage. None. Unless you count her rubbing lotion into my legs. I was pretty surprised. Also they did not do a good job scrubbing my feet. Polish is just ok. Honestly, I could have done a better job on my own feet. What a disappointment. However, they did have a really good massage chair. The interesting thing was that when I came in there was someone already having a pedicure and they had me in and out of there before hers was even finished. Why the difference, I wonder?

I just moved to Charlottesville and was happy to find my new nail salon on the first try!
This is a great spot. The nail techs are incredibly friendly and nice, and the mani and pedi I received were outstanding. The pedi is long and luxurious, and even involved a hot stone leg massage. The mani was perfectly executed and not at all painful (generally I avoid manis because many nail techs are rough on the cuticles). The real highlight, though, was getting this quality of nail care for $ 35 total.
This is the best value I’ve ever had in a nail salon, and the only reason I am not giving five stars is because I would reserve that for a luxury spa experience. Nails Design looks and feels more like your typical strip-​mall pedi place. What it lacks in fancy décor and amenities, however, it more than makes up for in the experience of great nail care delivered by friendly professionals for a bargain price!
I will be coming here as long as I live in Cville.

Needed to get my nails filled and was searching Unilocal for a nice place. Stumbled across Nail designs and saw the perfect rating so I had to try it! I can understand why their rating is this good! Awesome place! I had Leslie and she was super nice! Took her time and really did nice work on my nails! I will be back! (:

Great price. Nice massage to accompany pedicure. People are nice. Best massage chair I ever had a pedicure in. Amazing selection of nail polish colors. And you can’t beat the $ 25 pedicure

Went in on a Sunday for a mani-​pedi, walked in with no problem. It’s clean and friendly, with great service. They do an EXCELLENT pedicure — not rushed, with great massage that includes hot stones. They also removed my calluses and cleaned up the cuticles very well. The massage chair is super comfy too. Manicure was likewise enjoyable — my cuticles were all ragged and my nails were out of shape — now they look great! There was also a good hand massage. I will definitely go back again — it was worth it for only $ 37!
I had Sandy — she was friendly, and didn’t force idle chit-​chat (sometimes I’m not in a chatty mood, and it was relaxing to just zone out).
One thing it’s missing is some good magazines to read, and maybe some music. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I’d recommend it to my friends!

In c’ville for a wedding. Saw the five star review yesterday and went there for a manicure and pedicure. It definitely deserves the five star rating… clean, friendly and the owners’ daughter was adorable! Would definitely go back if I’m ever in the area again.

This is my go to nail place. Staff is very friendly, they have free Wi-​Fi and give a great massage. They also include a callous removal during pedicure which all other nail salons generally charge for. Family owned and you can’t go wrong.
