I stumbled upon this nice place while looking for a place lunch on my way into Charlottesville from the airport. The place was clean, it had great ambiance, and the staff was very prompt and courteous. The food was very traditional, with good portion size, and at a good price. This place definitely deserves 4 stars.

If there is one thing that I like its a good Mexican joint. This place was pretty classy and their chips and salsa were fresh. I hate when you can tell the chips have been sitting around for a while. I got the Chori Pollo and it was pretty good. I would have liked the chicken to be cut up but then I would just be being picky. This place was good and I would definitely recommend it!

I ate here recently and overall had a good experience. I ordered the Tacos Al Pastor, since that’s the best Mexican dish ever… It was different here than I’ve experienced elsewhere, but still good. The atmosphere is nice, feels like a chain store… which it is, but warm and inviting. The service was quick and friendly. The only thing that was a bit of a downside was that it was kind of pricey for what we got. I liked the experience here, but I’d probably end up choosing more of a mom n’ pop type of Mexican restaurant next time around. Just a preference of mine though — overall this was very good!

I have heard about this place from friends, so it was highly recommended. Me and my wife stopped in on a Sunday for a late lunch and it was really good. Their chips were hot and the salsa was just right, not too spicy. The table side guacamole was awesome and our chickens salads were flavorful. I would recommend this restaurant to family and friends since our experience was a good one.

Chips tasted like they have been soaking in oil before frying. The salsa isn’t very fresh tasting. They messed up on my order then brought me the«right» order… then charged me for the wrong order that was $ 3 more. Their ONLY redeeming quality is that they have semi decent margaritas at happy hour & I hate myself right now for eating all of that salty food! If there is any other Mexican restaurant around, go there first! Wish I had better things to say as I was hopeful when this came to Charlottesville as the one in Richmond is pretty decent.

I’m giving this place 4 stars because it is exactly what I needed it to be. A large scale good Mexican restaurant. This is a good place for families and large groups. I can see this as a regular place for our family of 5. Plenty of seating and a large variety of items on the menu. We’ll be back!

Giving it four because it is under rated on Unilocal.Good standard Mexican with good drinks and nice service. Great for families and spacious seating. Ample TVs so you can watch Duke steal another game from UVA at the last second — damn Devils. This restaurant knows what it is… if you are looking for a date spot and you are not on your prom go elsewhere.

My daughter and I came in for lunch. The food was pretty good but the service was horrible! !!! The restaurant wasn’t even busy and I had to basically scream to get more napkins and refill of my drink the service was so bad even my seven year old complained! Never again! !!

Not too good for a first time experience. I was expecting the servers to be more up beat on there guest when the restaurant has no more then 2 party’s in it –3 in each group. It was tasty food but the serves sucked. Need to step up you’re game if you think you can last past outback. Good luck in the near futures.

I grew up going to one at a different location, but after 10+ years of being away, it was just as delicious as I remember. I highly recommend the tableside guacamole and making sure you get their special«white sauce» with your chips and salsa. This place is jammin’.

Not bad in regards to the food. But like other reviewers had said — I came here for the guac. Made fresh, table side and was overall amazing. We at almost the entire thing. The margaritas were another thing on our order. The quality was okay, but the size was huge. I would pay that price for that size marg any day, no matter how average it was. Overall good place.

My wife and I ate here over the weekend. First it was the weekend and very few people were eating here. That should have been our first inclination something was wrong. We wanted to eat outside because it was one of the nicest days this year. The hostess said ok. We went outside and all the table were sitting next to each other and the umbrellas were not opened. I had to help the hostess open the umbrella and then she started to walk away. One big problem… All the chairs were stacked on each other and she told us to unstack the chairs we wanted. We should have gone somewhere else but we were so hungry so we went inside to eat at a table that had chairs. The food for my wife came out and it was ok. My food was great but my plate had a huge chunk out of it. About a year ago we went in to eat here and my wife ordered something on the menu that she had had at the Richmond VA location on their menu. When it arrived it didn’t look like the same thing that she had in Richmond. We summoned the manager and told him about this. He said, get this, the menu was wrong. This manager is still here to this day. This place has gone way down hill and we will never eat here again. Good luck to you if you do.

I’ve been eating at this place since they opened in VA Beach area and have always been incredibly underwhelmed by their food and outraged by their prices. This place is good if you want to watch someone make your guacamole(I have better things to do) and pay a lot of money for refried beans out of a can. Nothing special about the food and its expensive! I’m from Texas and I can honestly say I prefer to eat at a smaller, authentic place around town than this chain. Today my coworkers and I in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo decided to order guacamole and salsa for pick up to make our work day better. We called ahead and were told 3 minutes. When I arrived, the staff were sitting around talking to themselves and not greeting anyone. They looked at me and said«What?» I asked about my to go order and they said they never got such order. Ok so I asked them to put it in. Waited around for 15 minutes for it. When I got back my coworkers and I agreed, it was the most guacamole of all time! Needed salt and it was all jalapenos. They gave us a small bag of chips that wasn’t even close enough for all the guac. Its was $ 8.75 for guacamole and salsa! Just yet another reminder to me why I never go here even though it is right next to my workplace!

Great Mexican food! Try the fajitas you won’t be disappointed. The tableside guacamole was to die for. Highly recommend this restaurant. Yes I would drive out of my way to get here. Marco was an excellent waiter.

Queso and table-side guacamole. That’s where you want to be. Their entrees are fine but nothing special, but their queso is delicious and their guac is made fresh right next to your table. They ask you how spicy you want your guac. Prices make sense for the amount of food you get($ 13 – 15 for most entrees), and the quality is fine, but by the time your entrée rolls around you’ll already be full from the bottomless chips and salsa(and queso and guac) on the table. They have a huge space, so you should get seated fairly quickly. Pretty good. Get the queso. Also guacamole. :)

This place won me over with their exceptional guacamole! I recently had dinner at Plaza Azteca with my family. It is a warm and friendly, family oriented, chain Mexican/American restaurant. There are many tv’s displayed throughout for your«viewing pleasure», but they are drowned out by the rather loud mariachi band type music blaring throughout the restaurant! When we ordered an appetizer of chips and guacamole, a young man came to our table and hand made the guacamole right in front of us! It was a nice treat to have him scoop out fresh avocados. He then asked what we wanted in it, such as chopped onions, fresh cilantro, Salt & pepper, fresh squeezed lime, garlic & tomatoes. Finally he smashed it up and before we could get a picture taken the bowl was empty! see below! This was the best part of the meal! The rest of the meal was pretty basic, my combo platter was nothing spectacular. I did really like the refried beans & my son said he loved the rice. I would not order a beef flauta ever again though. I thought it was rather soggy and the beef was more of a mystery meat stuffed into a wet corn tortilla, bland & the texture was something I would rather not go into! I would recommend a chicken enchilada to be on the safe side. The chicken was tender and tasty and the sauce was … well, hmmm, let’s just say nice! Hence only 3 stars. Everyone was pleasantly pleased with their entrées. We all opted for combo plates. The portions are very large so I would recommend to arrive hungry. Our dessert was good! The chocolate cake is really delicious and it definitely passed approval from the chocolate lovers at our table! Overall it was a fun experience although we brought our own fun! The food is not outstanding but good enough and I like it better than Guadalajara which isn’t saying a whole lot! I would definitely go back for the guacamole, chocolate cake & The apple churros & vanilla ice cream definitely get some points as well!

I’m sitting at the bar and waiting a ridiculous amount of time to pay the bill. This should be the quickest served spot in the house. Staff is missing. Where are they? Out to lunch like I am? Enchiladas suizas was ok. First time drinking a Pacifico, it was good– expensive though– $ 6. Salsa was disappointing. This place is OK. That’s about it. I won’t come here intentionally again.
