I had the most enchanting to N oh yet with the owner a few minutes ago! While looking for a travel book to China he brought me not only to the section, but to the very books he and his wife used on their own trip! He understood my hesitation since they were 8 years old and cities change, that he didn’t push but gave me many, many ideas AND a helpful tip on how to go somewhere else to buy a more recent version for less! For LESS! Am I standing next to the REAL Santa Claus??? Hen we moved on to the best book he’s read lately and he turned me to a mystery novel he said is the best book he’s read in TEN years! When’s the last time anyone has read a book that good? I immediately bought it and I will come back here every single time I’m in town. What an awesome store! Great advice! Extremely friendly! And prices are fantastic!

This is a great used bookstore with a decent overall array of books, but it really excels in one department: MYSTERY. If you are a lover of sleuths and their ilk, this is the place for you. One whole WALL is dedicated to them, and the selection is excellent. I’m a sci-fi fan, and the selection for them is pretty good; it has a very decent selection of them and they’re well-maintained, like the rest of the books here. Both hardcover and paperback books are equally promoted here. Their fiction selection is a little lacking, but that really didn’t bother me – most other bookstores are big in this area, and I like coming back to Read It Again Sam simply because they have so much space dedicated to specialty books. This store is also a great place to find specialty books like nautical volumes and art books and food books… I’m not a huge aficionado of these areas, but I can tell this store tries its best to offer a very classy assortment of collector books, and these impress me to be the kinds of volumes that would make especially nice presents for those who love these kinds of books.

My only regret is arriving so close to closing time! We’d visited a couple of the other bookstores on this street and come away disappointed — too much in the rare/antiquarian line at one and the other had a stinky plumbing problem that day. This bookstore had very good stock over a wide range of subjects(I was most impressed by the mystery section), was well-organized, and the prices were reasonable. I’m looking forward to going back!

Better-than-good used bookstore right on the downtown mall. The selection is very good, and the browsing is entertaining — they have a ton of pulp novels, including Dell Mapbacks with the wild covers. The organization of the nonfiction is microfine; for example, the cookbooks are split into sections like herbs, chicken, wine, etc. This must make them crazy — what if a book is about herbs AND chicken? — but if you’re looking for something specific, you can tell in a moment if they have it. The staff is also strikingly friendly, and enthusiastically recommended other bookstores in the area. My only complaint — and working in a used bookstore myself, I HATE it when people say this, but it really does apply in this case — the prices are high, sometimes unreasonably so. Still, definitely worth a look.
