This is a very beautiful way to get your activity in. The scenery is beautiful and the path is kept up nicely

I have only been down this trail once, but I hear it goes all around the city. I really enjoyed it the other day. Made me feel like I was setting up for an old warfront during civil war times or something. It seemed pretty popular, so I am not sure how crowded it is during warm days. It was pretty cold the day I went, and it looked like it had rained recently. Despite this, there were quite a few people running the trail itself. It seemed like a great place to run! There were also plenty of stopping points to skip rocks, or just enjoy nature… of course you are actually right in the city, so you can enjoy nature, and then get a taco! What’s better than that!

I think there may be many trails in Charlottesville that are referred to as Rivanna Trails, but I am particularly referring to the four-mile loop that runs from Riverview Park on one end, under Free Bridge and above the Darden Towe Park area on the other end. I love the easy access from the Riverview Park entrance or Free Bridge. This is a wonderful, paved, scenic(right along the river) flat trail perfect for walking or jogging. Dog walkers sometimes leave their poop bags along the trail… gross, but at least they bag it up so it doesn’t get stepped on. I’d give the trail five stars if it were lighted… all of that wooded beauty gets scary at dusk!
