Great haircut from Esther. She explained what she was doing & why. Easy to schedule & get in. Definitely going to be a regular customer.

I arrived 10 minutes early. The stylist who greeted me told me my stylist would be ready for my 1:30 appointment. She also gave me a bottle of water. Hence the one star. I watched as my stylist worked on one client; then moved over and worked on another. About 1:50 I figured it was my turn — but no! She started working on another. 2pm I got up and told the girl at the front that a half hour was long enough for me. «Did I want to book another appointment?» «Nope». Bad enough it took so long. Someone should have come over to me and said, «Hey, I’ll be another 15 minutes or 20 minutes or whatever — Will that be ok?» But nothing. No recognition at all. So much for a first impression. I will continue my quest for a decent stylist in Charlottesville. 3 years here and not a one to be found.

I had Torey for a shampoo, cut, and blow dry, and she was precise, friendly, and patient through out the entire appointment. I have thin stubborn hair that needs a keen eye and a sharp razor to achieve the layers I like and provide the body my hair needs. Torey definitely had the skill to achieve both! I was happy with the way my hair looked and the fact that she was willing to re-cut a few times until the shape framed my face the way I like it. I would recommend coming to Torey if you’re looking for a stylist who utilizes a solid razor cut for women’s hair. Bear in mind that this style tends to end up with jagged pieces and a random array of layers. I also appreciated that they were open on a Monday night which made it extremely convenient to get a cut after work. For those that are driving over — parking is available right in front of the store along Main Street. Make sure to drive slowly past the front as there are about 4 parallel spaces that customers are able to use.

After my first haircut I would’ve rated this place a 4 and decided to go back. The woman who cut my hair wrote down what she did the first time(very simple men’s haircut with a part) so it should’ve been easy to do the same thing again. –A hair stylist should never tell you they made«an executive decision» and changed something without asking –She took two big chunks of hair out of the back of my head — it makes sense why she didn’t offer me a mirror to see the back until I asked –The length was completely uneven around the sides — I needed my wife to touch things up as soon as I got home. Never going back to this place again.

BRIDESBEWARE!!! If you are in need of good customer service, employees that can quickly and knowledgeable answer your questions this is not the place to go. A month before my wedding the stylist that I originally set the appointment up with to do both hair and makeup told me she no longer could. This abrupt cancelation was made through a Facebook message after I tried getting in touch with her. I called both salon and the number the salon gave me for her, after not responding and leaving a message I messaged the salon on Facebook, my last resort. The reply back said that they could no longer do it. Now I’m stuck trying to find someone else on such short notice. BRIDES beware!!!

I’m usually very uncomfortable getting a haircut. At this establishment, I’m not. Ester killed it. She walked me through each step of the cut, and it’s the best one I’ve gotten in years. Come to this place with confidence.

If you’re kind of snobby brat like me(montgomery county represent) and you usually have to wait awkward amounts of time to schedule haircuts/highlights over break around holiday and family plans because you wouldn’t trust anyone but Esteban in your overpriced salon in Georgetown/Alexandria/Bethesda with your hair– stop. Just go here. I just got the best haircut ever(literally) from ESTHER, and paid 2/3’s of what I do in DC for it. She spent a lot of time on my highlights, making sure they were thin and that they blended in well. The color she chose for me was perfect, and the cut looks great. I had a very nice woman here before(I don’t remember her name), but I prefer Esther’s work over her’s. The previous stylist made my highlights WAY too thick; they looked like tiger stripes. So, this isn’t a blanket endorsement for everyone who works here. I would read the reviews on Unilocal carefully and go with someone who is known to do good work. I lucked out with Esther so if you get the chance, definitely go with her.

DONOTCOMEHEREWITHCURLYHAIR. I called. I SPECIFICALLYASKED for someone who had experience with curly hair. At the time of my appointment, i was 13 days away from my wedding and needed a simple trim and all-over dye. I decided to try this place because of its reviews and proximity to me. I sent them PICTURES(at their request) so they could see what they were dealing with. They knew what to expect. Someone called me the day before to confirm my appointment for an all-over dye… but no cut. What? Whatever, they took me in for both when I corrected them. I don’t know if this had anything to do with my experience. I come in, they see my hair, and I immediately sense the panic. The manager, or owner, or whatever his name was that’s in charge, starts talking to the stylist about my hair texture, thinking I can’t hear him, and his tone doesn’t inspire confidence. Whatever. I sit down and try to give them the benefit of the doubt. The stylist came over and told me there would be an extra 20 bucks for my texture and length. At this point I’m getting annoyed. I knew I would never be back when she draped me and handed me a comb and told me to begin brushing my hair out myself. What? You’re charging me an extra 20 bucks and you can’t even comb it. Whatever. Just want to get this over with. She begins the dye job, it goes smoothly enough. But that doesn’t earn her much extra points. I wanted it dyed all over black. Hard to mess that up. She also trimmed me, which from what I can tell is also fine. But we’ll see how both of those really turned out once I have had a chance to wasH out her HORRID styling job. I’m including a picture. She didn’t know how to properly blow out textured hair, I guess, because my previous stylist would’ve never let me leave with this. And to add insult to injury, the manager or whatever had the NERVE to tell her to charge me extra for using the flat iron, which she used for about 4 seconds and it did nothing. Luckily it was waved. And like I said, we’ll see if the 100 bucks I paid for the dye and cut will be satisfactory. I already see brown peeking through the black. I will not be back. The entire experience was BS.

**UPDATEDREVIEW** After my review was posted, I was contacted by one of the owners of the salon. He was very pleasant and informed me that the day was not the normal customer experience most people have. I believed this was the case initially, so I really appreciated it being confirmed by the owner. He addressed any and all concerns I had, and honestly, I likely would give the salon another try if I were back in Charlottesville. Anyone who cares that much about their customers and their business deserves it.

I was really scared to try a new hair salon after moving to Charlottesville for law school, but it had to be done eventually. Luckily Ashley did an amazing job! The color and cut were both perfect, and she did a great job with my eyebrows too! The prices are also really reasonable(in my opinion). I’d definitely recommend this place(and Ashley in particular) to others!

There are some great places in Cville, but I have NEVER had someone pick out a color for me, for my skin color, and essentially read my mind. Anna was the best! The salon is very cute and you can see they truly care about their clients. Great experience!

I’m seriously so happy with my cut and color from Cherie! Its taken me two years to find a great stylist in the valley but I finally did. Just left the salon and had a great time hanging out with her(she is a total sweetheart) and love what she did with my hair. Great price too– I was the only one she took care of for the whole two hours and she was very quick. Cut, highlights and base color update was $ 125. If you book with her online, she is stylist 1.

Anna did an amazing job on a short notice appointment, finding time to fit me into the schedule. The entire staff was accommodating and friendly. Especially impressive that I have curly hair which is tricky for anyone to cut correctly, and she nailed it!

I can only speak to the experience the bridal party I was in got and not for a normal haircut but I was more than impressed with the service we got. Every stylist was extremely nice and worked with each girl to determine the best up-do and makeup for the wedding, and they took painstaking attention to make sure we were all happy with how we looked in the end and that we all looked fabulous. Our group could have easily annoyed them by asking for another touch up of hairspray or to fix a stray hair or to put another coat of lipstick on but they always happily obliged. They had water, wine and lemonade for our group as well which was a fun touch for a wedding morning! The cost was reasonable as well– for up dos and makeup it was $ 100 per girl. All of us got a ton of compliments throughout the wedding and were told it’s the best we’d ever looked!

Staff were very friendly & the hand treatment was a nice bonus. Hope was very experienced and confidently applied root touchups to my highlights. I was amazed that she was able to achieve so much lightening in just 2 hours. I am very happy with my hair and will be coming back. I give 5-star satisfaction for the price I paid, but a final 4 stars just to reflect that it is not actually a 5-star Metropolitan fashion salon. The place I got my highlights originally did almost twice the amount of foils, and let the bleach/toner sit a lot longer(but it took 4 hours!) instead of going under the hot dryer immediately to rush things up. That said, the same amount of lightening was achieved(and I was AMAZED– she rinsed the toner out basically as soon as she put it on). Also, I got there a bit early to make sure I could find parking, and was verbally harassed by multiple people while I walked around the block to kill time — it is near a liquor store and a convenience store. Just puttin’ it all out there. *Patrons are offered a deal on the next service for writing a Google review.

In town for a wedding, popped in to get a quick shape up and fade. Ask for Tiffany. Took my directions, confirmed with a digital face book exactly what I wanted. I was in and out with exactly what I wanted in like 20 minutes. What I really liked is they offer a wash after the cut so you don’t need to take a shower right after.
