Ok, so we went back… The food was good, the salad bar was better. The waitress was MIA. We were looking for more drinks… I wish I was a camel. Thanks to Unilocal for the 20% coupon.

Waiter service was mediocre as it seemed that there was only one waiter assigned to the living room area. This resulted in our table having to wait 15 minutes to order. Dessert was abruptly delivered by another server who didn’t bother to remove some of the empty plates. My osso buco was the dry and the outer meat was hard. I was the worst osso buco that I have ever had. I somehow expected that Charlie Brown’s had a higher standard. I was very disappointed. I might try another restaurant but I will not be returning to this one in Chatham.

As far a Charley Browns go, this place is at the top of the list. There is a sizable crowd of seniors that are present and well into their meal by 4:00pm. The other large group are people with kids. If you’re not in either one of these groups, and you do t have a discount card or coupons, you may stand out.

We had a disappointing experience in this facility. With the exception of the hostess, each staff member we encountered seemed short and unwelcoming. Despite it not being especially crowded at the time we visited we waited approximately 25 minutes before our server even came to take a drink order after being seated and when he finally did come he wreaked of cigarette smoke. Several staff members seemed to just be hanging out around a staff corridor and were loudly gossiping about people. Additionally, the food was overpriced for what what you get. We would have left if we hadn’t been so hungry. This facility is in desperate need of restaffing and either upgrading their menu or lowering their prices.

Hands down the nicest Charlie Brown’s I’ve ever been to; I was never that big of a fan, until now! Our waitress was so nice and the food was pretty good. Their Tuesday night wine special is probably what won me over though.

Came here again simply because my family had a gift card. The waitress was far more attentive this time around however the food was still was slow given the crowd tonight. All 3 hamburgers we ordered were the incorrect temperature but the appetizers were solid. Still feel that the food is ok at best but reasonable prices and servings will have people returning. I maintain that I am unlikely to return without a gift card or someone else footing the bill given the quality of other options in the area.

Came for lunch, nice and quiet and better prices. Salad bar was more average than I was expecting but prime rib was great.

Been coming here for long time… Always come back for the prime rib it’s delicious! The salad bar is always full and full of so many salad type items. The service has defiantly come along way too. We sat in the lounge and the lady was very attentive and good! Good came out fast and it was a good meal for the price

I have usually loved going to CB Steakhouse, this location now called Charlie Brown Fresh Grill, but this time it was not so good. The salad bar was spot on and fresh as always but the rest of the experience was subpar. First it took the server a little over 10mins to first greet us and bring us water. Our orders took awhile to come out and were both incorrect. My friends burger came out without bacon and my Parmesan crusted steak(special) came out with the incorrect sides. The steak on the menu looked and sounded great but came out looking weak, and mess, as well as with orzo instead of potatoes and the veggies was wrong too from what was written on the menu. We let the waiter know but didn’t want to send them back because we wre already starving so we kept them and told him to make sure that at least we were not charged for a bacon cheese burger. The bill came out accurate but took awhile to be brought to us. When we got home my friend saw that they had double charged her card, mine was only charged once, she called CB and they ensured that it would be fixed and disappear in a day or two. Overall poor experience. The second star is for the good salad bar!

Took my kids for dinner recently and was pleasantly surprised! Atmosphere was very nice and we had an attentive waiter. Our food was very good and prices were reasonable! They had a great happy hour menu that I would like to try with my husband. I would definitely return.

Sad to change my review after a great lunch the other day. We came in for dinner and were thoroughly unimpressed. Salad bar was gross, the food had been in there all day and was wilted. We asked for water three times before getting it, and she only brought two glasses when there were three of us. After bringing our food she never came back to check on us and wasn’t very friendly the entire meal. She brought the bill and pretty much rushed us out and took the bill and tip off the table before we left, poor service etiquette. Meals were okay, but the bad service was not enough to make us come back. Stick to takeout from this place.

And you thought that salad bars had all retreated to grocery stores? Now labeled«Fresh Grill»(not steakhouse anymore), Charlie Brown is trying to be the category killer of salad bars lol. Surprisingly affordable to eat here, entrees are about $ 20 and you can get a drink too, low noise level allows for easy conversation. The margarita menu actually looks extremely promising, with Cointreu and juices(not sour mix) and very fairly priced at about $ 9, alas I caught on too late. No craft beers, taps include the usual suspects with a 22oz pour as an option. About that salad bar, it has an enormous range of cold items including the requisite greens, chopped fresh veg, some pickled veg, beets(canned), cottage cheese, hummus, refried beans, chopped bacon, eggs and much much more. also three different fresh sliced breads. Could use some labels tho, frankly I wasn’t quite entirely certain I hadn’t mixed up the hummus and refried beans :) What’s truly great about the salad bar is that you don’t have to wait, just jump up and fight the crowd around the big round bar. This visit we tried surf and turf altho not on the same plate :) Crab cakes were generously sized and served on a mild remoulade sauce, very affordable at $ 19. A NY strip was delivered medium rare exactly as ordered, I’m not sure the boy had time to taste it, he downed it so quickly, also $ 19. A small prime rib was similarly medium rare, very nice and exactly to my taste, $ 18. Vegetarian rating: uh, no. Only 1 star, just two appetizers and exactly zero entrees offered without animal protein. But see above, you can make yourself a heck of a salad for $ 10. Extremely pleasant service from our waiter Jon this visit. Altho he muffed our order by promising chowdah when only chick-veg was available, otherwise he was friendly & easy to find when we needed anything. Remember about 1982 when even fast-food chains like Wendys added salad bars? CB takes me back :)

The spot we visited apparently had a senior special because we looked all around and everyone appeared to be over 60 years old. No offense. But we should treat the seniors better and get them to dine out more. Food was great. Loved the salad bar. Many choices of seafood, meats and combination platters. Waitress was speaking the same language so she was very friendly. Will return.

Stopped in for dinner before a nearby movie and, after 10 – 15 minutes, couldn’t wait to leave. Lesson learned. Never more, quoth the raven. Once again, as so often, we found sullen, unhappy, gossiping, unhelpful, slow, nearly surly waitstaff. All we wished were hamburgers and pints at the bar. Instead, what we «received,» was 1) No greeting 2) No menus 3) At least a 10 – 12 minute wait before our drinks order was taken(the bar was far from full and, although the«bartender» was filling drinks for the tables as well, she was far from full-time busy. She had time to gossip and chitchat, for example.) 4) Roaring noise from the sound system feedback or exhaust fans marred the entire time we were there. Service was slow and less than perfunctory, with a total lack of interest or attention merely for a single round of drinks, so we eventually decided we’d rather eat anywhere else. And need I say, the bartender passed us three tiimes before picking up the credit card for payment. I suppose when so many reviewers cite a trough-like salad bar as an establishment’s main selling point, and the traffic volume is so great from salad bar to seat, you should know what you’re in for.

You really can’t beat their salad bar. The rest of their food is ok, although I will say the prime rib is better than average. The service was good and the décor is fine. No one goes to Charlie Brown’s for décor. Salad bar… need I say more?

It’s a steakhouse. Stick to the steak. While I was genuinely pleased with my filet mignon and baked potato(loaded with sour cream and butter, mm), I found every other element of the meal to scream«mediocre chain restaurant). We got a free firecracker shrimp appetizer after I checked-in on my Unilocal App, but I didn’t even touch the plate. The shrimp were miniature and mushy looking. The all-you-can-eat salad bar was unclean, with nuts, lettuce and shredded cheese all over the floor surrounding it. I found this to be quite off putting. Tomatoes were so cold they were almost frozen inside. Yuck. My steak was cooked perfectly and I ate the whole thing. Like I said, order what Charlie Brown does best and ignore the rest.

Prefer this CB to the one in Denville. Requested to sit in the area with the bar since it is dark and cozy as opposed to the big room with the salad bar(glaring light, noise bouncing off the walls due to too many toddlers making a racket). Food is hot and tasty, service excellent. No complaints. The salad bar alone is worth making the trip for since it is well stocked with all kinds of salad fixins’, anything you can think of and more!!!

My bf warned me about this place, his description was«like TGIF, but worse.» Well, I didn’t believe him and gave it a shot last night and I certainly have to agree with him and will not be back. The service was slow and random. Bf’s salad came first; bit later bread came; then my soup came then what you think would have come first came, apps, then the meal after a long wait. Odd. Food was blah, nothing to write home about, but definitely worth reviewing on Unilocal!I saw ribs on the menu, but was too scared to try them.
