Chatham Day School

This is just a note to say that the education my three children received at CDS continues to benefit them long after they graduated from the school. Looking back, the remarkably able faculty and administration provided them with two invaluable benefits. The first is a solid academic foundation that was tailored to their needs and talents. That training prepared them well for the challenges of high school and shaped the learning skills they now use every day.
The second benefit has to do with the formation of character. The atmosphere at CDS inculcated in my children a respect for learning and for other people, two intangibles that I believe are as rare today as they are essential for individual development. That, in my view, is no small accomplishment.

The school leadership is unprofessional beyond words. They are not proactive and take no responsibility for their own poor management, procedures, decision making and actions. On the second to last day of the school year, they suggested (via email) failing my child and giving her the «gift of time» by repeating the year. Throughout the year, all parent/​teacher reviews were glowing as a result of their educational prowess (according to them) The only person who needs a gift of time is a cancer patient. Perhaps they should have called me in a few months earlier to discuss retarding a 5 year old? Sounds like really poor marketing for revenue. Also, the Board of Trustee Chair is angry and inappropriate in his handling of issues. He is an overly litigious lawyer who tries to belittle clients to quiet them. Bad experience. Spend your money at a school with history, pedigree and leadership.

I don’t have children, but every child I of friends I have met who has attended CDS is remarkable, happy, intelligent, curious, loveable, quick. It seems like a marvelous place. I have met a couple of the staff members too and they are also tremendous people. A place to keep an eye on! Love it!
