Chatsworth Smog Center

This is our second year coming here to get our cars checked for registration renewal. These guys are professional, very nice and quick with the inspections every single time. We never waited more than 15 minutes (there’s plenty of seats on the side; wear something warm if you’re coming here in cooler months for it’s a garage. We found a coupon for them on their website and they accepted it with no hassle so that was a bonus! Bring cash so you can save on the $ 3 credit card fee.

Let me start by saying I’ve taken multiple cars here and had no problems. Yesterday I decided to call and see if they could do smog on my RV (selling it). On the drive over I stopped by Grumpys around the corner as they had a bigger area for an RV. Grumpy was exactly that «grumpy» so I headed over to Chatsworth Smog. I just had this smogged 6 months ago so I figured no problems. It failed the «ready» test. They charged me $ 70 and said the re-​test would be $ 20. He told me to go dive it for 40 – 50 miles and it should reset the ready mode. As I was pulling out he came up and said it was actually the O2 sensor. «it was bad and needed to be replaced». I quickly ran to the store, paid $ 50 for a sensor and burned my butt putting it in. I quickly returned and he checked it again saying still bad. Now go drive it for 40 – 50 miles. I went home and double checked my work. It looked like it wasn’t plugged in correctly so I fixed it and drove back once again. When I pulled up I see Grumpy in their shop. He said they call him when they need help. He asked what year it was and then proceeded to show the tech on the RV where it says ODB1 certified. This whole time the tech was using the ODB2 test which doesn’t read correctly on these computers. There was nothing wrong with my RV! I spent 3 hours and $ 50 for nothing! He then proceeded to charge me $ 20 for the retest. I was appalled they would even charge me anything for their mistake as well as wasting my time and $$! I should have stayed at Grumpys. I will never bring any cars back here. I even called ahead and asked if they do RV’s. They said this was the 2^nd RV that failed that day and I’m certain it’s the techs fault. If you have a car you may be fine, but this experience ruined my faith in their expertise as well as customer satisfaction. I would not recommend anyone to take an RV to them! PS if the gentleman in the picture is the owner, he was there an did NOTHING to ensure my satisfaction when I mentioned my concerns.

Alex is efficient and good. I read the review from T.H. and completely disagree. I called ahead to make sure Alex wasn’t busy and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I highly recommend Chatsworth Smog Center

Wow this is a small part of old Americana. This kind of service is what people used to get in the 50’s. Remember when you used to get milk delivered or the service stations that washed your windows while you filled up the tank. Well this is exactly the service you get from Alex the owner of Chatsworth smog. He is one if a kind and part of dwindling legend. If you need to get a smog go see Alex.

I am very happy with the service I received at Chatsworth Smog Center. The owner was friendly and the shop was very clean and tidy. I was in and out of there in a very short time.

One quick call was all it took to realize I would rather pay more for a friendly person answering the phone than to give these people my measly $ 45. I understand they might be very busy around lunch time on a Tuesday but that’s no excuse to interrupt me asking a question and then «I have another call» CLICK — Wow– so rude. Then I wound up finding Econo Smog coupon and getting it cheaper in the end anyways thanks to rude guy answering the phone at Chatsworth Smog Center– so for that I gave them 2 stars instead of 1
