Gil the Reliable Handyman

Could not be more happy! Gil knocked out my project in no time at all. I explained what was in my head and before I knew it, he built it. Professional and courteous, I would recommend him to anyone.

We hired Gil to do a bunch of things inside our home in Porter Ranch, things such as hiding cables and wires from our TV/​Home Theater system etc., replacing door handles, fixing door alignment, putting curtain rods together, mounting a 40-​inch TV in our bedroom etc.
We initially called Gil for a quote and he drove over to look at our place and provided us with a free quote. The quote was very reasonable and we immediately hired him to do the job. We arranged for him to come over a couple of days later as we needed to buy certain items (e.g. wall mount) before he could commence the work.
He arrived on time and completed all the work within the time frame he quoted us. He was extremely professional and his attitude was excellent. He provided us with very useful recommendations and his work was of excellent quality. Everything he did looks very good. In addition, we were short on one item that he needed to finish the job and he came over a couple of days later to finish it up at no extra cost.
We have used other handymen in the past and I have absolutely no problem in recommending Gil for all your handymen needs. My understanding is that he does more than just simple jobs, though ours were probably on the easier end for him. If you are looking for someone who does his job well, has a professional attitude, is pleasant to work with and comes at a reasonable price, then Gil is your man! After some searching, we believe we have the right handyman now for our home care needs. Thanks Gil!

GIL ROCKS!
He’s creative, positive and super easy to work with– he created a tarp set up over my dog run, and fixed my rain gutters and drainage issues after the last rain storm. He put a dog door via a glass pane, and even came up with a ramp to help my new puppy access it!
HE’S AWESOME — it’s taken me literally years to find someone like him!

We hired Gil to help us get some things done before we put our house on the market. He did a great job with everything. Painting our patio floor so it looked fresh and clean. Getting rid of an ugly trash compactor and installing a new wine fridge. He tightened fixtures and touched up the paint around the house. I definitely will hire him for things in my new home.

Gil has helped me with replacing my kitchen sink as well as other jobs. He is knowledgeable, trustworthy and dependable. Call Gil for your home jobs, big or small.

I am quite impressed with Gil’s work. He has installed doors, repaired tile work and has performed many other tasks around my rental units in the SFV over the last few months. I appreciate the fact that he listens to my needs, performs the work, offers suggestions and ultimately delivers in grand style. I mean «grand» because so often one runs into handymen that HAVE to have their music loud on the premises while working, eat and leave their food/​candy wrappers and cans/​bottles expecting someone else to clean up behind them and the worst, leaving trash (wood shavings, random nails, hardware, drywall pieces, etc.) behind them, again for someone else to clean up. As if I was the only lucky party in the arrangement. I have experienced none of this nonsense with Gil. Gil understands the work partnership and has delivered nothing but the best quality of work. As a result, I am very delighted to have him come work for me, when I need someone reliable and trustworthy. I know that everything on my laundry list of things to do will get accomplished. Due to his breadth of expertise, I am especially happy to know he offers his best work at a reasonable rate, too!

We hired Gil to put in new flooring in our kitchen and laundry room and he did a fantastic job! Gil is extremely professional and knowledgable about home repair and install and his work product speaks for itself. Our floors look amazing and Gil is our new go-​to guy. We will definitely use him again and refer him to our friends and clients.

Ok I wasn’t going to post this, because he was really nice, but I just discovered months later that his work was seriously negligent. So, I get him to come install some floating shelves in a wall, and I tell him these need to support 20 lbs + because my cat will jump on them. He leaves. First night, cat jumps on one, it crashes down.
He comes back, «fixes» it for free. 2 months later, the shelf comes crashing down, with my cat on it, cat hits the ground hard. Shelf crashes down onto my desk, puts a huge dent in it (about 1″ x 2″). I look up, and the WALL ANCHORS I GAVE HIM were not even installed. I gave him 70 lb wall anchors. The shelf was literally just sitting on 2 plastic brackets. This is insane to me.
Do not hire this guy. Holy hell. Two times in a row he was sloppy.

Gilberto was fantastic! He was quick too. He had a lot of little tasks around our house that he had no problem doing. Will use him again and again. Next are the larger jobs for him to tackle.

big thanks to gil! called him last minute to help out with a few peices of damaged furniture from a move, he was able to fit me in schedule the same day! and it was very last minute! very easy to work with and very resonable price. no complaints at all. if you are in his area and you need a handyman gil is the man to call. gurantee great service! thanks again gil!

Gil the Handyman needs to change his name to Gil the SUPER STAR!!!
i hope this doesn’t come off wrong but as a guy sometimes we like to think we can do everything! Whether we can do it or not our ego seems to thoroughly enjoy trying to do things no matter what the cost! Drop me off in the middle of nowhere + i can use my internal man compass + find my way out… yet hanging or doing some basic electrical rewiring — it’s like trying to fit a square peg in the round hole! No matter how many times i’ve tried — it DEF is NOT my forte!!!
Hence writing this review!
i was having some family come stay with me recently + I had a few things that just needed to get hung + rewired and like my normal procrastinating self i waited to the last minute to get it all done! So usually i would just stress my self out + try to do it on my own BUT this time i remembered a friend of mine telling me about Gil!
So i thought i had nothing to lose (except my own patience if i tried doing it) AND i am soooooo GLAD i did!
Gil is not only a really really cool guy but he KNOWS a freaking heck of A LOT when it comes to the structural engineering of things!
I was AMAZED + in AWE of his handyman skills! He made hanging my gargantuan mirrors, my beautiful extremely heavy balinesian chimes + changing light fixtures look like child’s play! i actually wish he would teach a class so i could learn + do this this stuff myself… but then i guess he would be out of a job! haha :) !
Which brings me to the point — he was really really reasonable as well!

Okay! AWESOME EXPERIENCE #2!
I just had to write again!
You know when you have a list of stuff that you’ve been meaning to get done and it bugs you that you haven’t completed it?
Well, that was me this past week. I have a baby shower I’m hosting next week and I want everything to be perfect.
Based on a few previous handyman experiences, I was a little nervous about how long it might take /​how much it might cost… But, I had nothing to be concerned about.
Gil the Genius swooped in and did ALL of the things on my list in record handyman time! I’m not over exaggerating here… I had 14 things on my list and he finished so fast that I was stunned. I am not often stunned. Especially not by handymen.
Here is what impressed me most: Gil put up a fan in one of my bathrooms and once he turned it on, he didn’t feel that the screws were tight enough. He didn’t charge me to take it back down and screw it in more tightly. This probably took him 15 or 20 minutes. I appreciated his honesty, thoughtfulness, professionalism and generosity. In my book, that kind of treatment deserves a nice tip! Also, Gil moved the bathroom light into the hallway and put a candelier in my dining room (no, not a chandelier, a candelier). These 2 things took some adjustments on his part because he wanted to make sure that they were extremely secure. Still, with the things he had to consider to do these jobs well, it took him mere minutes to do each. In the past, I have watched more than a few handymen complain about things like this and think about it for some time before actually doing the work, charging me for their thinking/​complaining time. Tick-​tock.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIL!

Gil is definitely reliable but much, much more than a handyman. He is super talented and creative. I hired him to help me with my house remodel and so thankful that I did. In the long run, he saved me time and money. He has an eye for aesthetics and very cool ideas /​suggestions. He helped me build a breakfast nook, a wood deck, and a super cool fence around my house. Gil is like the perfect little restaurant that you don’t want anyone else to know about… simply awesome!

Gil the handyman is actually much more than that title.
Yes he is very capable of repairing just about anything. I have seen the work he’s done as well as the work he has done for me. It just doesn’t get any better. I have a contractor brother and although my brother has skills, Gil is in a whole other category. I would certainly asked for Gil’s help first. He is totally reliable and trustworthy.
It’s like getting a person who understands architecture, interior and exterior design, construction, materials and the best sources to utilize your needs.
He has designed furniture for me which leaves everyone who visits my home with a big «Wow»
He is honest, intelligent, personable and hugely capable. I highly recommend him.
