This place was delicious. Four of us went to eat for lunch, and we all LOVED it. I had the chickpea burger, which was an awesome vegetarian option, and the shrimp bisque was to die for. The others ate the crab cake, pastrami, and cheesesteak sandwich. Such a great experience, and unique ambiance.

Went before 6pm for their«happy hour» had a TON of great choices on their Happy Hour menu from $ 3-$ 6. I got the jack rabbit slims which were delicious(lightly breaded onion rings with jalapeño infused honey) and the jackelope(my favorite thing there and for only $ 6 including a side!!) If you haven’t been here yet, you definitely need to try it!

Super friendly staff; Craft food and beer made From real ingredients and not an industrially made menu. I had the beet salad which was delicious, as well as the fries with pulled pork on top for an app. The free happy hour popcorn was incredible. The happy hour over all was very reasonable and worth your time.

Not a good experience unfortunately. The food wasn’t good and the service was bad. I probably won’t be going back anytime soon.

Passing through on my way to Atlanta. I consider myself a serious«foodie». This place found it on Unilocal.Amazing décor, very classy and chic! Upper class hipster atmosphere. Ordered $ 4 happy hour wine on tap(Cabernet is amazing). Fantastic beer selection. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Very approachable. Pastrami Rueben fantastic! Duck burger is sex in your mouth — you’ll need a cigarette after! Seriously that good! Happy hour pulled pork fries surprisingly good! 5-stars all the way!

Amazing food with great prices! If I ever come back to Chattanooga I will come back here! Ordered: Single wide fries Jackelope with goat cheese mashed potatoes The Katz with vinegar greens Everything was fresh and hot. The staff was very friendly and it has an incredible atmosphere. We went for a late lunch but it would make a great date night spot as well.

One can’t go wrong at Beast & Barrel. I’ve never had anything that was short of excellent! The Steak Frits is one of my favorites. A well seasoned and perfectly prepared ribeye topped with butter and served over parmisian garlic(thin cut) fries. The juice from the steak drips down on fries and adds another level of flavor… what an experience! In addition, they have an excellent bar selection. A neat aspect of that selection is in their draft beer selection. They provide a wide variety of Tennessee craft brews. One can select a flight with samplings from different regions across the state. The wait staff are all courtious and knowledgeable. The interior is open and specious but not overly loud. The back deck is a favorite though. In fact, the deck is even dog friendly; so you can enjoy your experience with all your friends, including the four-legged ones.

You like meat? You know I sure do. The night was young and so were we. We walked along a dimly lit sidewalk in the park and«Hark!» we stumbled across Beast and Barrel. Deb and I were young and in love and the only thing to scratch our itch for meat and beer was this gem. Beast and Barrel has a killer happy hour. 3 – 6 all week. 3 dolla’ drafts, 4 dolla’ wines, 6 dolla’ burgers, and plenty more. Check ‘em out. Sit at the Bar. And tell em J and Deb sent you.

Probably one of the best places I’ve visited in a while! I love to see what local places are around when I travel and this blew my expectations out of the water. The crab cake and onion rings with jalapeño honey were a great start! I got the big katz which was like a Reuben but with smoked pastrami and it was incredible. Their homemade ketchup(which I’ve never seen before) was awesome as well with their fries topped with Parmesan and garlic. They made my cocktail(a New York sour) flawlessly which many people mess up normally. Dillon did a great job; polite, friendly and personable. I can’t wait to visit again when I come down to see family next. Everything was a 10⁄10!

We had a great time here. Awesome food, fast and courteous service. We came in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and the place was busy. We were worried that the service would be slow for that reason, but were were wrong. I ordered the wine flight for $ 8, which was a great idea. I got 2 oz pours of six wines, with a really helpful list of each wine name and some tasting notes. It’s a great way to try wines without going to a vineyard for a tasting. My partner got a high gravity IPA on tap, which was great. For our appetizer we shared a bowl of the shrimp bisque soup that was just plain delicious. I kinda regret sharing it! It was creamy but not totally smooth, you could still see bits of shrimp in it, which was great. It also had some fried cheese on top. Our lunch entrees were so good! I had the Coastal Seafood Salad, which was shrimp, crab meat, fresh dill, and some kind of white sauce — probably yogurt. It was seasoned really nicely; the fresh dill was perfect and I could still taste the shrimp and crab meat, plus the portion was gigantic. I want to try to make this at home! I had fries as my side item and they were a little overcooked, plus I couldn’t taste the garlic, so honestly I was not impressed by the Beast Fries. The sandwich was supposed to come on a croissant, but instead I got some kind of HUGE bun that was impossible to fit my mouth around. I ate the sandwich openface, with a fork, which was just fine by me. My partner had the Crab in the Pen sandwich, which is a spicy crabcake burger with bacon on challah bread. Keep in mind that my partner is Finnish and has been eating seafood his entire life: he said this was the best meal he’d had in the US. He had the vinegar greens as his side and he only liked them. He did not love them. I think that cooking greens with vinegar is the big thing right now in «new American» cuisine, and I think this is a mistake. I’d be more impressed if the restaurant made it’s own hot pepper vinegar sauce and cooked the greens in a normal, savory style. It’s easy to get the amount of vinegar wrong in the kitchen. Overall this place was great. If I’m ever in Chattanooga again, I want to try the place for brunch. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone that likes food, though the word«foodie» will always make me cringe.

After a nice afternoon touring Chattanooga, my daughter and I stopped in the Beast and Barrel for lunch. We both had one of their signature cocktails which was very good. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. The service was awesome. Our waitress was Consuelo was very helpful with our food selections. The restaurant made jerky was a nice treat. We opted for soup and half a sandwich. The mushroom soup was delicious and the BBQ Pork sandwich with the mustard slaw was yummy.

Oh my bacon where have you been all my life? Holy moly this was the BEST bacon I have ever had. We loved the varied menu and the daily specials were great too. We settled on a siracha/peanut butter burger, with bacon. Unbelievable and I am a very finicky eater. The sides were so delicious sounding it was hard to choose just one. Since I was forced, I had to go with the risotto. My husbands crab cake sandwich was equally as delicious, as was his side of broccolini. Service was great and people watching was good if you can score a seat by the front windows. My mamas side of spinach was served room temp so we have to deduct a star. We will definitely be back when in town.

So very disappointed with our last experience. 3 of us came here Saturday around lunch for the meat & cheese tray and a few cocktails. The manager that day was on a complete power trip and had an attitude from the beginning. We’ve encouraged friends to give this place a second chance since they got a new chef, but after our experience I doubt I ever come back

This is the second time I have been to the B & B, the first time I was there for lunch… This time, was just having a draught beer(+1 point) and some snacks at the bar. It was around 4PM on Tuesday so not crowed at all. The restaurant is located on the north shore so parking can be a problem and you will have to pay. It is close to the Market Street bridge so if you are a tourist and want to take the shuttle bus to the north shore, it is easy to find. When the weather is nice, the open the large garage type doors so you feel like you are sitting outside. It also has a back screened in porch overlooking part of Coolidge Park. When it was owned as «Northshore Grill» I remember watching fireworks from the porch. Inside it has lots of seating and a good size bar to sit at. The beer selection was great and I had a local beer but forgot the name; I should have written this last week. I had a pulled pork jerky appetizer which was really good. The duck wings were too thin and not much meat so not sure they are worth trying. Overall, the service and atmosphere is great and location makes you feel comfortable and you are part of Chattanooga. I give it a 3+.

For carnivorous foodies! Housemade charcuterie, ketchup, cheese… these guys do it all. The smoker was chugging along beside our table on the back deck. The charcuterie starter included smoked pulled pork, andouille sausage, dill havarti, pickled carrots, tangy grain mustard, pork jerky, among other tasty finds, and was delicious. Our waiter honestly recommended the peach honey mustard on the side of my southern belle fried chicken salad, thankfully, because the sweet emulsion would have ruined it. The green goddess dressing was a better match, but the salad would have benefited from an anchor lettuce such as Romaine or spinach – the fancy looseleaf lettuce was too airy to hold the nice strips of fried white meat chicken. My friend had a decadent pastrami sandwich on grilled bread with melted cheese with the awesome garlic parmesan fries. I really wanted to try the chick pea burger and would visit again to give it a go. This place is red meat friendly but thanks for the vegetarian option!

Injustice to their menu by calling themselves a «Gastropub». This place feature a beautiful menu of selections that rival any«fine dining» concept. Their products come from local farmers including grass fed meats which they smoke in house. They scratch make everything down to the ketchup! While visiting my hometown I dined here with 3 family members /we were all pleased with our meals. The service was great and we enjoyed sitting along the windows that gave us a perfect view of the comings and goings of all the movement downtown. Which is booming with life! The food was served hot, the portion sizes were great and the price point was very reasonable. I highly recommend this place.

Big, big fan of this brunch! My friends and I looked on a Chattanooga brunch blog and liked Beast and Barrel’s thoughtful menu and website. We decided to give it a try, and arrived to a restaurant that’s really cool. Their windows are garage doors that can create a patio like experience in nice weather, the napkins were quaintly knotted to hold the forks, and the brunch menu had savory appetizers to start. We got crab cakes that used a tasty corn breading for frying and included a mixed greens side. Since we were all debating which meals we should order for the sake of getting the side biscuit, the server brought us a biscuit plate. 5 stars for her great service, the amazing biscuits, and that superb cherry jam! Now for my meal I ordered the pastrami hash. It was two times too big after gorging on the biscuit and crab cakes, but a great meal. The pastrami was cut thick on top savory potatoes with eggs on top. My friends got the scariest looking brunch burgers I’ve ever seen. They were massive with a fried egg, bacon, sausage, and a big beef patty. They really liked the flavor, but were easily defeated half way through attempting to eat the whole burger. I ordered coffee, but this place had a Bloody Mary and infused bubbles bar for brunch drinks. They also had carafes you could order of various adult beverages. Fun! I want to go back again and again! My only complaint is this place needs more sweet menu options.

The other day, we happened to find ourselves in downtown Chattanooga around Happy Hour. As usual, I was starving. I had just finished a photo shoot for Pamela Greer Photography(my photography business) at Coolidge Park and was looking for something close by. We have eaten at Beast & Barrel before, but I didn’t take any notes and other than remembering that I really, really liked it, I decided I needed to revisit. I love their happy hour menu, it is so simple and to the point. There are $ 3, $ 4, $ 5, and $ 6 offerings. You pick based on what you want to spend(and eat). The first thing we settled on were the $ 5 classical cocktail offerings. Hubs chose a negroni and I had a Pimm’s Cup. Both were excellent and we thought the large round ice cubes were perfect — they kept the drink chilled, but melted slowly for less dilution. Even though there were plenty of tasty options on the Happy Hour: The Bill Brasky Marrow Plate, Cheesesteak Wit Wit, and Pulled Pork BBQ Sammy to name just a few, I had my heart set on The Big Katz. I had the Big Katz before and just needed to make sure it was every bit as good as I remembered. Along with my Big Katz, I wanted some Beast Fries. Everything was just as wonderful as I remembered. The sandwich is made with Beast Pastrami with has been marinated for 36 hours, smoked, steamed and hand cut. It is served with house made kraut and onions, cheese and thousand island dressing on a marbled rye bread. The bread was perfectly toasted, the meat tender and delicious, and the kraut was fantastic. The Beast Fries made an excellent accompaniment and makes me think all fries should be topped with garlic, parsley and Parmesan Cheese. We will definitely be back to try some of the Happy Hour options! On a weird side note, they have the worst napkins ever. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as horrible napkins, but there are, and they have them. I don’t know what they are made of(I’m guessing some sort of polyester), but they are so rough. I ended up wiping my mouth with the back of my hand rather than using their napkins. Next time I will see if they have any paper cocktail napkins.

I first dropped in here for brunch and I wasn’t disappointed. Their brunch menu is on par with other brunch locations in Chattanooga, but their brunch drinks really set them apart. Though you can only get their featured brunch cocktails by the carafe, they’re well worth it if you’re dining with at least one other person. Since that first brunch, I’ve been back numerous times for lunch, dinner and just drinks. I’ve never had a bad meal here, but I love them most for their craft cocktails. The cocktail menu is split up by before/during/after your meal, but you don’t have to stick to their timing to enjoy them. The bartenders really know what they’re doing, and if you want advice on trying a more adventurous cocktail they aren’t likely to steer you wrong. Oh, and a note: From the outside it might seem that this is a place that requires a more upscale dress, but it’s really not. I’ve seen people in here wearing anything from yoga pants to suits.

Dear Meat Lovers, Please go directly to B+B for an awesome cheesesteak. They call it the Cheesesteak wit wit; I call it big, meaty heaven on a bun. Huge. Really, like unless you haven’t eaten for a day or so huge. I never finish a whole sandwich in one sitting — most take me two — this will be four intervals, I think. Delicious(housemade) meat. The cheese«wit» — mushrooms and onions. Just warmed but not toasted bread(perfect for eating later, since not all crispy/crunchy). Oh — and it’s on their 3−6pm menu(every one of our seven days!) for $ 6(reg is $ 10), and full size, with a side(get the fries, just trust me here). Since I had raspberries for breakfast and one quarter of the sandwich for my late lunch, I am going to see how much more I can tackle. Tonight. .. or for breakfast tomorrow. Go, eat, enjoy. You’re welcome, CN [PS this sandwich got a re-bump to 4*]
