Belk Department Store

I recently went shopping here for the holidays. During that entire outing not one person asked if they could help me or if I needed help. In general I don’t interact with many employees who are super excited or energetic. Unless I’m shopping for commissioned items like suits… Ha! Big surprise right?!
I do appreciate the store though. It’s clean and I like the layout of things. I like their clothes and other items. There is an inconvenience in the fact that the men’s and women’s departments are in different stores and in different parts of the mall. Probably won’t be fixing that anytime soon.

I have never been so disappointed with a department store… looks more like a storm came through the men’s department. I will post pictures in hopes that management will be embarrassed enough to do something about this!

I went here to buy an appliance. No one was around the store at all for assistance. We tried 4 customer service desks and nothing. We found a price check kiosk which the associate laughed and said it wouldn’t work. She was ride the whole transaction and didn’t give us the promotion that the item was on. She was completely rude as we were leaving as well. Appliances were awesome and the store was clean but the lack of service throughout made it a terrible a experience.

I’ve never been a big department store shopper. In fact, I only come to this Belk because they are the only store in Chattanooga that carries my makeup, MAC. And only this Belk, not the Belk at Northgate.
So I go here and only go through the cosmetics department. Everyone is always very friendly. I’m always greeted by several cosmetic reps.
Everything looks nice but it has that odd department store smell. What is that smell? This store is a little dated too. Looks like The Broadway (a Calif dept store now defunct) circa 1990’s.

I really like this Belk. It’s awesome, especially the shoe department. I bought a pair of summer sandals today, and I had a salesperson helping me the entire time, getting different styles & sizes until I found the right pair. She never left my side, which is refreshing. Most stores today, I find that I’m searching for someone to help me.
Also, I buy all of my cosmetics at the Estée Lauder counter here at this Belk. Love them! Also very patient and helpful until I find just the right product.
If you really miss the old fashioned customer service and attention from other retailers, I highly recommend the Hamilton Place Belk! You will not feel like a nuisance at this store!

Belk is an old school department store in the South. My first-​ever memory of department store shopping is actually from the old Belk in Chattanooga, some 30 years ago. The story there has long been part of family lore — let’s just say it portended my future life as a devoted shopper.
The Belk at Hamilton Place is great. I’m always a little skeptical of older stores like Belk, Dillard’s and such, given that Atlanta (and even larger cities, of course) boasts Bloomingdale’s, Saks, etc. But I was pleasantly surprised at most every department at this store. While many of the sections are smaller than I am used to at stores I frequent in other cities, like the solid selections in purses, say, of Kate Spade to Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren to designer’s secondary brands like Cynthia by Cynthia Rowley. That last one proved to particularly good for me as I found an awesome Cynthia purse, about 30% off — a fabulous spring-​y orange shade (the navy lining goes perfectly with it). So many compliments every time I wear it!
The ladies lingerie department is also stock full of the good brands, especially Wacoal which is my go-​to.
The shoe department is solid enough — a nice selection of «cute» athletic shoes in fun colors (the good for just wearing out, not so much working out, but fun) — and a side selection of good athletic and every day socks and tights.
Belk served my specific needs on my first visit and is a go-​to store I think I will be able to count on for future needs!
