Brainerd Golf Course

Awesome golf course, greens are kept very nicely, and has a challenging layout, I really enjoyed my round. Staff was a little bit unhelpful though.

We chose to play this course on the way down to the Masters and we chose based on proximity to the freeway and also the limited reviews we found. The reviews we read were on the positive side and seemed to be a solid option.
The course is only a couple miles off the interstate and that’s a 5/​5, but that was one of the only highlights.
The course does not have a driving range, only a small chipping area surrounding two putting greens. This would normally be fine, but the grass surrounding the putting greens were either bare, revealing only dirt and mud, or to short to secure a good position to practice chipping. The greens themselves were actually nice and well maintained, putting true and often quick.
The layout was very open and allowed for a miss on virtually every hole due to limited tree presence and the wideness of the fairways, which is a plus for an amateur golfer. The fairways were also in good condition for the most part and we’re easy to hit off of.
The rough — I will start by saying… yes if I were to hit the ball straight I would not have to worry about the rough, but I sometime tend to be a Rory Sunday at Augusta on number 10. The condition of the rough was similar to that of a goat ranch, full of more bare sports and grass cut entirely to close to the ground. This was a let down and made most shots more difficult than they would on another course. Even after being in the rough multiple times it did not matter because we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time between shots — the groups in front were incredibly slow.
Overall, the course was just ok but still a fun adventure.

Great place to play I’m from Louisiana originally so this was the first course I have played on since living here in the Chatanooga area. It’s close to where I live its maintained very well and it’s just a fun course to play. I will be going back very soon.

For a public golf course, this one is pretty top notch in the area. Starter was on hand to answer questions, and kept everyone on time. Carts are new, and the greens and fairways are in much better condition than other area courses. Plus, they have a solid pitch and put range.
Could their clubhouse use some updating? Sure. The only real drawback I found was the noise from the surrounding roads. But, not their fault, and not much can be done.
I’ll definitely go back.
