I give this place 4 stars because anytime besides Sunday and Tuesday I’m here enjoying some pool and affordable beer. I’m a smoker, so the smell mostly doesn’t bother me. However, what does bother me is Mike, the bartender on Sunday and Tuesday. God, its awful going in there on those days! I literally got sighed at when I ordered another beer, after I had paid my 50 dollar tab and tipped well. Another patron asked where her food was, boneless wings, and traditional wings came out, after about 30 minutes. Apparently they had ordered boneless wings, but he got it wrong. This was when there were about 13 people in the place. Fix this, cbc, or just close upstairs on Sunday and tuesday, or just close the upstairs bar on these nights. It just helps everyone involved…

Take out is quick and friendly.
The burgers are huge. The mushroom swiss burger was really good. I’d get it againbut I wouldn’t spend the extra money for chips. I felt like they were a waste for 2 reasons. .
1) not crispy at all
2) burger is so big even if I liked the side I still wouldn’t be able to eat it all.
Tip: opt for the fries that cover with it

Decent place. Old school bar with pool tables and darts. Smoking is allowed so just be forewarned it gets really smoky after hours, especially on friday and saturday. But the drinks are strong and cheap. The wings and fries are surprisingly good!

We come to cbc allot. Actually, because of negative guest experiences it is our go to. Our favorite bartender is sam. We couldn’t wait until she got back from her wedding. To congratulate her and see her smiling face. She is great with her guests. Best bartender ever. Try the half nachos for 6 dollars. The Cuban-​to die for. Sam works down stairs! Short blonde hair. Great personality!

I absolutely love this place. When I lived in Chattanooga, I spent EVERY Friday night here with Sam. She is undoubtedly the best bartender. She is more than willing to accommodate for unusual drinkers and she is a blast. The food the very tasty as well. You won’t be disappointed!

We went here on Saturday with some friends for Valentine’s Day. We talked to the bartender to get on the wait list to play pool he said there were only two people ahead of us and they would call is when it was our turn. He was very pleasant and had such a kind smile! He works very fast to take care of his customers! We found an open table and talked while we waited. We sat in the far corner by the elevator. The waiter that came around to clean the tables was very nice as well. He even did a little trick with a bag to make us laugh. After the two names were called we were up and had a great night hanging with our friends and playing pool! Will defiantly go back soon!

One of the things I am learning to deal with since the move to Chattanooga is some of the best places are smokey. I feel like I have stepped back in time to the 80’s where the clothes go directly into the washing machine when you get home cause they smell nasty. CBC is worth the stink. Totally different feel upstairs or down but both great. They make a great burger, best I have had so far in Chattanooga.

This was a late night stop on our pub crawl, so memory is a bit hazy, but it was a pretty cool place. The atmosphere was nice and the building was really cool. Downstairs was just a basic bar area with seating, it was absolutely dead. Upstairs was a bit livelier with another bar, TVs, pool tables, and juke boxes, but for some reason we stayed downstairs. The bartender was a cool cat and chatted with us a bit. We ordered a couple of pizzas, which were just fine. I’d stop back by this place again, but probably would hang out upstairs next time.

Stopped in for a good cigar and was not disappointed. Davidoff is the only way to go. Great atmosphere and staff. Really like the dude named Stevo. Heeees so kool.

I hate this place. It’s not because of the space itself; I actually liked the interior, although it can get pretty crowded and hard to move around. It’s the type of people who come here that I don’t like. This is a place for self-​absorbed, obnoxious frat boys to smoke cigars and play pool; a place for balding middle-​aged men on the prowl; a place for ditzy, high-​maintenance women who are merely «arm candy» for their frat boyfriends. As an introverted, «alternative» type girl who fits no standard for traditional beauty, I felt *extremely* uncomfortable and I could actually feel the stares on me. It’s like they knew I didn’t belong and were questioning why the hell I was there.
The service sucks, too. I guess because I wasn’t bleach blond with my boobs hanging out, I couldn’t get a drink in a timely matter. My only option was to get as wasted as possible to make the place more tolerable.

Could be such a cool place. But – uggh – the smoke. It just kills me. Literally. Leave the smoking to outside and I’d be there all the time. Until then, I’ll be at Hill City Pizza shooting pool and having a beer without the smoke.

I feel a bit biased writing a review for CBC Downtown… as I used to work for the CBC East… but I honestly feel like its comparing apples to oranges. The downtown CBC is pretty disappointing when you compare the two. It is situated nicely on Cherry Street… and when you walk in… you are immediately next to their humidors. Walking past… downstairs is quaint… just a bar area with high pub tables. Its inviting. Then you make your way upstairs to the pool and bar area. This is where the let down really is. The pool tables. while not bad… are not what one would expect after experiencing CBC East. They are pay-​per-​game tables… with coin slots. (CBC East is pay per hour) The whole upstairs area seems rundown and a bit seedy. The tables throughout are left with previous patrons trash and glasses… and finding an empty table… or someone to clear one… is nearly impossible. That brings us to service. My husband, his best friend, and myself were there for probably 3 hours… and we saw the server once. She brought 2 beers… and vanished into the night. I don’t have a problem going to the bar to get drinks… but, again, knowing the policies the other CBC has, this was disappointing to us. Would I return? Meh… probably not. I’d much rather go to the other CBC… it offers a lot more as far as service, billiards and atmosphere are concerned.

This is pretty much the smokiest bar you will ever go to. You can literally see smoke clouds in the bar. Be prepared for all your clothes to reek of cigarettes when you leave this bar. Besides that, this is a cool bar if it’s not crowded, with a bunch of nice pool tables. However, if it’s a busy night you will seriously watch the bartenders put away clean pint glasses for 20 minutes before they even look up to take an order.

We came here the other night because the bars closer to the riverfront were filling up rather quickly. The drinks were very well priced (including their 2 dollar «house shots» that tasted like red jell-​o), and the pool was also inexpensive, at 75 cents per game… an absolute steal, considering it was a friday night. Definitely worth a look, and a welcome addition to downtown’s bar scene.

I came here for a cigar in indoor comfort and was not disappointed! Fantastic vintage building in downtown area. Parking in the street right in front of the building. Nice feel to the place. Very high ceilings, large bar area and excellent humidor. Purchased 2 La Flor cigars which where well kept (no cracking, good moisture/​humidity) and fresh. Staff was friendly and got free diet Coke while I smoked.
