Most creative southern cooking chef around. Wonderful food, exceptional prices. Great place to eat!

good pork sandwich, could use a bit more smokey flavor but the meat was nice and tender. good bbq sauce, a bit sweet and a bit tangy, not hot. meat gets topped with cole slaw so if you don’t like it that way make sure you let them know. the cole slaw is good, just the right amount of sauce. Real popular local spot, fills up quick at lunch time, everyone knows everyone, and by the time you finish up and pay the bill, they’ll know you too. Other menu items are various burgers and dogs, chili, grilled cheese and some other kinds of sandwiches. no fancy presentations but the food is tasty.

Man, I am sorry I didn’t remember to snap a picture of this place — it tells you a lot about the type of barbecue joint you’re about to enter. It’s off the beaten path(but very close to I-75 where it meets I-24) and my bf has eaten here a few times so he suggested we run in to grab a bite on our way north. I love barbecue and am not afraid of the hole in the wall spots by any means. Chubby’s is painted a bright purple on the outside. It’s very small inside, with a few four-tops, a few two-tops and a small counter to sit at. It’s a no fuss, no muss type of place — I ordered a side salad with blue cheese dressing and got a bottle of Hidden Valley brought over to the table to use. :) I had the fried chicken special(which was, to my surprise, a single piece of breast meat fried lightly, no bone) along with the corn nuggets(just like a northern corn fritter, yum!!). The bf had the ribs which I tasted — awesome. I also had a slice of chocolate cake(which I later found out was store bought, but they also had homemade desserts, too). Two meals, two sides each and one dessert brought it all up to… $ 18 and change, plus tip. The portions are not enormous but it’s filling, well done Southern food for super cheap. The waitress(only one working) literally knew every single person that walked in the door except for us. And many of them, as they left, said they’d see her tomorrow morning for breakfast. I would’ve gone back! And will definitely stop here again on my way through Chattanooga.
