Pros: I was relieved to find a good Indian place in Chattanooga. I was pretty disappointed after eating at Sitar downtown(unbelievably bland and salty food). Dosa Hut has a great lunch buffet, pretty good variety, great taste, and reasonably priced. The attentiveness of their staff has greatly improved over the last few months. Cons: The place needs to be de-cluttered and freshened up a bit. There’s way too many cheesy/messy things going on, especially in the entrance. They also need a good variety of music(preferably Indian music). They play the same couple of classical songs over and over every time I’m there.

This place is great. We usually order masala dosa. I have tried other items as well. The owners are down to earth people. They are very attentive and kind. The place is nice and cozy. Food is way better than the other 2 restaurants. The new owners are new to Chattanooga and they are trying hard to make this restaurant great. Will be going back soon.

First visit to the Dosa Hut, located within 5 minutes of Hamilton Place mall and maybe 10 from the airport. We showed up at the very end of the lunch buffet period, we were the only customers at the time and we sort of expected to be turned away because we were so late. The staff(2 people outside the kitchen) were friendly and ensured us that they were happy to have us in. The room was on the dark side as the lights were largely off, we expect because they were closing. The décor seemed a bit low key and would not by itself be a reason to return but we were there for the food. We have eaten Indian food on six different continents and have had some of the best and some of the worst, this falls easily in the middle. Of the three Indian places in town we have tried,(we only moved here in Sept. of 2015) this is the second best we’ve had. The one near the aquarium downtown being the best and the one at the end of the airport runway unfortunately the worst. On to specifics, on offer were three chicken dishes(Tandoori, Tikka Marsala, and Curry) all were tasty with a good zing(I lean towards mild and my wife to spicy) this pleased us both. At least five veg offerings varied between puréed spinach, to a lovely Dal dish with the consistency of dry Apple sauce. Naan was plentiful but had clearly NOT just been put out, although it was pliable it was a bit dry. Two other breaded items were Pakora and a small donut like item whose name always escapes me. The deserts choices were fairly standard but had one additional one, hard to describe but very good, looks a bit like watermelon but was not. We had a chance to speak to the Owner who explained that business is not as good as he had hoped but he is working hard to make his place as good as he can. He dropped the evening buffet due to the challenges of keeping everything fresh when his menu items were so varied. In summary, I would say the Dosa Hut is a good place when you are looking for a tasty Indian buffet but don’t want to go downtown. We will soon return to try the evening ala carte menu.

Like almost every Indian restaurant, this place started out great and then went downhill. We used to love coming here, the food was delicious, the service speedy, and the restaurant clean. Now, the restaurant is dirty and sticky, half the light bulbs don’t work, and there’s only one person working at any hour of the day so the service is awful. Our last visit we waited 30 minutes for the appetizers to come out and our drink orders were never taken. When the food came out some of it was hot and some of it was lukewarm. A couple was waiting at the front so long that they ended up leaving. The food was mostly very good but our experience was ruined by the middle of our meal. There are very few Indian restaurants that maintain high quality and standards for years and I really hoped that Dosa Hut would be one of them. However, after waiting for cold food, removing our own dirty plates, getting our own napkins and water, and eating in near dark, I would need a lot of convincing to come back to Dosa Hut. The highlight of our visit? The cockroach crawling on the wall next to our table.

Dosa Hut has greatly improved since first opened(my previous experience was maybe 2 stars). Today the lunch buffet was well stocked and everything was enjoyably spicy. The staff seemed friendly and attentive and everything seemed clean and tidy. My one critique is that a few of the buffet items were running low or appeared to be leftovers from the previous day(s) with a thinner fresh layer on top. The naan wasn’t even close to being out-of-the-oven fresh… Seemed a bit dry and stiff, etc. Perhaps this isn’t a regular occurrence? Don’t know… Will have to try again and find out. But, that being said, Dosa Hut is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area! :)

The hunt for stellar Indian food in Chattanooga can be pretty elusive. Most of the places in town are just so-so. Since this is a relatively newer place I decided to check it out. The interior and menus still reflect«The Curry Pot». Looks like the only thing that changed was the name, sign, and ownership. Service is still pretty reserved nothing over the top, basic, pleasant, and efficient. The interior has a lot of renovation opportunities(it’s tired and worn) and could use an update. The food is the real star and it’s definitely better than when it was The Curry Pot. We had chicken tikka masala and it was awesome. Flavorful, tender chicken. Very delicious. We also had an off-menu item some pan-Asian dish that was cauliflower and it was spicy. We ordered it medium but it was dang spicy and delicious. The naan was tasty as well We had a mango lassy but it wasn’t that great, tasted like it came from a concentrate mix. Would be a 4 star if then can freshen up the place and renovate. I’m sure we’ll stop by again in the future.

«Dosa Hut» was formerly known as The Curry Pot. The good food and fast turnaround time has remained the same. This is really good Indian food, with epically big portions for a beyond decent price. I00% recommend. It is only won out by the Sitar restaurant that shut down. Ugh.

Great food. «Indian Hot» was great with a little yogurt. Service a little slow but well worth it!

New edit: after reading that they had a new chef we decided to give the DH another try. Major improvement over the 2 visits we had after they took over from the Curry Pot owners. We went to their Sunday buffet, they had a nice variety, the food was fresh and flavorful. The Chicken Tikka was tender, the naan bread was fresh, and we loved the variety of veggies they had. We’ll definitely be going back.

We only come to Chattanooga every once in a while to visit family. We noticed the change in name & ownership. The food was really good, better than the Curry Pot. We liked it so much we ordered it for take out the next day. The service was great. We didn’t have to wait long for our food. The prices were very reasonable… In short, we had a pleasant experience.

Just discovered Dosa in Chattanooga! As I rushed in on my way to the airport they were very kind to quickly heat the dosa pan and make me a delicious masala dosa to go. Well flavored, nicely cooked potatoes. Good red sauce. A light-colored creamy sauce I’m not familiar with(not coconut). Good rich soup with the dosa — which of course I had to gobble up before airport security. I would go again!
