My parents have been in the emergency room for over four hours, and they have no rooms available to move my mother to. What hospital on the planet does not have a enough rooms available, pending some sort of natural disaster or mass casualty? My father is being forced to sit in a plastic chair next to her bed all night long, even when he has health issues of his own. If your Hospital is not big enough to handle the volume of a growing cities such as Chattanooga, then add more rooms.

I wish Insurance companies would quit being in the business of managing illness. However, the care I get at Erlanger is world class. I went in with an issue with my heart and the care I get there is excellent. I moved from Chicago and I am getting a good continuity of care and the on staff doctors give you the appearance that you are the only patient there! Now even the Nurses in the Cardiac Floor is great and would not trade them for the world! The only thing wrong is I think they still have the Televisions from the 1960’s and would like them to upgrade to maybe just a little newer to maybe the 2000’s.

STFD, y’all. Just when things seem to be rolling along smoothly, I swear something awful happens to me. I will spare you any pictures of CN-post-fall. I started running again and on Fri, was 10 ft(no exaggeration) from my front door when I tripped. Face, meet concrete. I laid down for a bit in the vain hope that an ice pack of frozen veggies would help, then realized. .. no dice. Since I don’t drive, calling 911 was my best option. From the EMTs who picked me up to every single person who helped me at Erlanger, I was so well cared for and cannot say enough good things about the whole experience(well, the face part sucks but what they did was awesome). Arriving about 1pm on Friday and spending a total of three ish hours there, I saw no less than four nurses and — THREE– doctors/surgeons. After an EKG(at least my heart is in really good shape!) and a CT scan etc, the three all came in to see me because they were individually and collectively amazed that, given the extent of the bruising, swelling and proximity to my eye(basically the left side of my face looks like someone took a bat to it), nothing was broken. I’m pretty amazed, too. Kindness, thoroughness(patient and straightforward answers to my questions), instructions for follow up, how to get hold of a plastic surgeon if(God forbid) I need it, and the use of «laymen’s terms» for discussing my condition. A little morphine didn’t hurt the experience, either. If you are ever in Chattanooga and find yourself in need of an ER, ask them to do not stop, do not pass go, just GO to Erlanger.

Terrific hostpital. My wife and both of our kids have been treated here. Never once have we been disappointed. They have been able to help where other area hospitals have not.

I have used Erlanger Hospital and staff numerous times in the last 8 years. In 2001, I had blocked arteries in my neck and Dr. Mike Greer performed the operation to clean my arteries out. I was not even in the hospital 24 hours, I left knowing I would be just fine, Thanks to Dr. Mike Greer and Erlanger Staff. In Dec. 2004, I was diagnosed with Stage 3B Lung Cancer, which was first seen on an X-Ray by Dr. Janak Naik of Harrison Medical Center. If Dr. Naik had not seen a small spot on my right lung, and I do mean small, I would not be here today. Thru the efforts of Mary Goodner, RN; Dr. Lawrence Nagel and Dr. Jeffery Geftner, at Erlanger Hospital, I completed Chemo and Radiation Treatments in May 2005. Since that time, NO Cancer has returned to date(12⁄2008). In May 2006, I was involved in a boating accident on Chickamauga Lake. My Ranger fishing boat hit a large wave sending myself and a lady friend from the boat while traveling about 50 mph on water. I hit the motor when I was ejected from the boat breaking 3 ribs. I floated in the Lake for about 35 – 45 minutes while a man on shore saw what had happened and came to our rescue. I did not have a life jacket on, a very dumb move on my part. I was taked to Erlanger Hospital Emergency Room and taken care of very quickly, Thanks to Dr. Barker. Erlanger Hospital has always been able to perform whatever testes that were needed to find my problems and the Doctors & Staff have always been excellent in taking care of myself and other loved ones whom have used Erlanger also.
