Went here for lunch today. Got the«Flatiron» on a soft hoagie bun and we got it steamed. That is the best sandwich I’ve ever had in town. They split it for us, each basket with its own pickle. I love the no-nonsense, but friendly, woman who takes the orders. Flatiron is by far the best sandwich place in town without any question. They do your sandwich any way you want it, on any bread, heated up any method you choose(or not), done by professionals.

Flatiron Deli is almost the equivalent of that person that«needs no introduction», as it seems everyone who works in downtown Chattanooga has come by at least once. However I still would like to share my thoughts, and especially share a perspective as a vegetarian. I’ve been going to FD for about 1 year regularly, and the reason my co-workers and I return, aside from proximity, is the continually delicious food and pleasant service. Again FD is no secret, so especially from about 11:30 to 12:30 you’ll find a packed establishment where seats are a hot commodity, so it’s a wonder to me the employees can keep their cool under pressure; however, in the time they do get to interact with us they’ve been nothing but genial every time. Let me say first as a vegetarian I appreciate that they mark on their menu board, which reflects the present available food items as some can come and go, what food is vegetarian friendly or not. Initially they did not do this for soups as well, but I’m thankful to say in the last month this has changed. All their food is delicious though, as I ate their 6 months pre– becoming vegetarian, but now that I am I have a few surefire hits starting with the veggie wrap. Unlike most veggie wraps this is not all lettuce, cucumber, tomato, etc. but instead it’s some of that with thicker veggies too like broccoli and cauliflower, cooked in a wrap and grilled panini style, with pesto sauce and mozzarella.(Ask for no mozzerella and this can be made vegan.) This wrap is more than enough to fill you up for a lunch. My other go to option is to order their veggie plate, which allows for 3 or 4 sides. These sides, that go fast mind you, often include such items as greek salad, italian salad, kale & sweet potatoes, and more. If you’re getting your order to go these sides are in a cooler by the register, but if you’re eating there they can get you a fresher batch for your plate. If you’re avoiding meats again check the board to ensure there’s no bacon in the sides. Since most of these items are not made to order I’d say if you’re vegan you will regretfully not find maybe but 1 or 2 sides, if they’re there, fitting your diet. Overall I once again have really come to enjoy my occasional lunches at Flatiron Deli. I only regret that they are not open longer.

Solid lunch spot downtown but there are better options. The sandwiches are tasty but very greasy and messy and heavy. The salads are sub par. The sides and soups are where this place excels. They change regularly and provide some good variety in the downtown lunch scene. It’s worth it to call ahead since the line can get pretty long at the lunch hour.

Pretty good. It was a good counter-service deli perfect for lunch. The clerk at the counter was a bit«less than friendly» and the only open table I found had not been wiped down but it was busy. My order took a few minutes longer than expected but it was good and so was the tea(which could make or break the whole meal). My side of potato salad was also good. Then, after things slowed with the passing of the lunch rush, that clerk came by and checked on us, which added to that friendly feel you’d expect in a deli. Overall, I’d go back.

This place has fantastic sandwiches and a steamer that makes the bread hot and so soft! One of my favorite weekly lunch spots. I only wish it was bigger, as finding a seat is a challenge at lunch time. My favorite is the turkey club with pepperoncinis added. Highly recommended!

I really like this deli. Interesting atmosphere, it’s cozy and dimly lit but nice. The food was really good. I had the rotisserie chicken salad and it was really good, I had it with a side of chili-it was ok just over seasoned. My boyfriend had the flat iron sandwich italian style, he said it was really good kind of small though. They offer student discounts as well. The service is not bad either! I recommend this place.

I had the rotisserie chicken in a wrap and it was delicious! There was plenty of chicken and it was very moist. Hands down one of the best wraps I’ve had in a while. Plus it was DA!

Chicken salad sandwich. The best sandwich I have ever eaten and probably ever will eat. I live in Nashville now, and let me tell you… that sandwich is so good that I have withdrawals. Their pesto pasta is also fabulous. Check this place out for sure!!!
