I’ve only been there a few times for the breakfast buffet. The waitresses are very friendly and accommodating. The food always hot and abundant. It’s not gourmet, it’s a buffet, but it’s good and I’ll be back.

We visited this restaurant 7÷17÷15 while traveling. It was within walking distance from our hotel and Friday is seafood and usually good. It was not super busy so that was a plus. We order the buffet. Instead of food on the bar there were empty dirty pans. It was around 7:00 when we went in we asked about food and were told it would be out shortly, we waited, we asked again we waited still not food. There were people standing at the bar and no one ever came and put any food out or picked up the empty pans. We asked the manager she also told us that food would be out shortly. A lady brought out some kind of whipped desert and a bowl of macaroni looking stuff. There were not even enough items on the salad bar to make a salad. Several of us stood at the bar to see if we could get a response but were ignored… this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to we waited a good 2 hours and never got anything other than a hush puppy to eat!

I have never in my life walked out of a restaurant until today. First this place is not the cleanest I have ever seen but we still gave it a try. Here was our experience. … first, my husband orders strawberry lemonade, something that is in bold red letters on the menu. The waitress says that she doesn’t have it. Then we order, me chicken salad croissant, hubby a burger, and gram a chicken pot pie skillet. The waitress comes back first and says the pot pie will be about 20 mins. We say fine. Then about 10 mins later she comes back to say they don’t have the chicken salad. I say okay and order something else. 10 mins later some other guy comes up and says that the chicken pot pie will be a really long time and do we want to order something else. I ask how long is long(Gram has a really hard time ordering and I really didnt want to go through the whole process again after just driving 300 miles). He tells us that they dont have one prepared, something about missing ingredients, and that they are getting them. At this point my husband says lets just go and the guy replies«no, no we dug one up I just don’t know how long it will be» That did it for me. DUG one up??? I am not giving an 89 year old woman something that got«dug» up let alone how our food probably would have been. I STRONGLY suggest you skip this one and drive to one of the other much nicer restaurants that are right next door.

This was my first time at a Shoney’s. The breakfast buffet cost $ 13.45 including orange juice, tax, and tip. If you want toast with your breakfast buffet, it’s included, but you need to order from the server. The scrambled eggs were good and fluffy, but the potatoes were cold. The scrambled eggs that had meat and cheese already scrambled with them were not good. The bacon was meaty and of course delicious, but the orange juice was tasteless. The quality of the bread used for toast is that same of what you would buy in a grocery store. Service was mundane. You have to take your check to the counter to pay, and this took a while considering there were only a total of six tables eating. There isn’t always someone sitting at the cash register, so you can wait as long as five minutes to pay. The breakfast choices include cut up fruit(like honeydew and cantaloupe), eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. I think the DoubleTree in New Bern, NC had a better breakfast buffet, but that’s just my opinion. I probably won’t be coming here again because the place is kind of dingy, but I wouldn’t completely object to visiting again. With that said, now I can say I’ve been to a Shoney’s.
