Atmosphere is unlike anything else I’ve experienced in Chattanooga. I had the best steak I’ve ever had outside of New York.

We absolutely love Terra Mae the first time we went there the food was perfect, it was the best meal I’ve ever had and service from Madison was phenomenal! We went with all her suggestions for drinks, had all her picks for each of our 4 course meals(she’s got great taste!). Right after that they closed for renovation for a few months. My boyfriend surprised me with dinner reservations tonight after he heard they reopened. We both were so excited to try it out. The hostess was very friendly and Madison was our server again I was so happy to see her. The menu was different from the first time so of course we went with all of Madison’s suggestions again the cocktails Dwell daiquiri and air raid both delicious air raid was our favorite, appetizer Brandade Croquette, for our entrees turkey and filet. The Turkey was so Tender and good! Everything was delicious, but different, not like the first experience we had the Gourmet American food with a twist. Our meals were still awesome and different which I love. I just wanted to say if you’re going back to Terra Mae don’t expect the same kind of food they had before. I was a little bummed they weren’t going to serve the filet with fried potatoes, the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had, the fried apple pie with butter pecan ice cream and crème brûlée. Definitely try it out it’s still amazing, fresh, gourmet food and the drinks are so good. We are looking forward to having brunch there soon!

The experience was perfect here. The food, drinks, and service were all wonderful. This was a perfect Valentine’s Day diner spot. We even got seated by the fireplace which was a bonus. Will definitely be back next year.

It pains me to give this place only 3 stars but I have to tell my truth. First of all the restaurant is beautiful and has that old city upscale feel to it. I was here for a birthday dinner so we were in the private dining area. The restaurant has great lighting and is the perfect setting for a romantic evening or dinner with friends. The staff is amazing, accommodating and the valet works fast. I live for places with great valet! The menu is definitely different but well thought out. It is not for those who prefer simple meals. They also had great vegetarian options. For the appetizer we had sweet corn bread, frog legs and pork sliders on the yummiest biscuits. I also had the ambrosia salad. A recipe that had me so excited! Fruit, goat cheese on arugala with a light maple dressing? Amazing… amazing…amazing. I thought hey… this is all cooked and made to perfection… how could I go wrong with any menu choice? I ordered the pork trio. It came with pork belly… my first two experiences with pork belly were amazing in the past. I imagined tender, flavorful, melt in your mouth, caramelized meat… ummm NO… I got more like overcooked and no flavor. I vaguely remember the second pork as it also had no flavor and was overcooked. The pork sausage was the best out of the three but had an odd flavored cheese filling. The black eyed peas were grainy and flavorless. So I ventured to another’s plate. Undercooked scallops… no flavor… onto another plate… flavorless trout… finally I hit the jackpot with the Mac & Cheese. I hate sending food back but I did and they were so kind to even take it off my bill. It was pricey and I hardly had touched it. Like I said amazing service… they gave me a skillet with Mac and cheese! It was amazing! So I’m not sure about this place… could be a hit or a miss. They have some wonderful dishes, amazing drinks, but I have a problem with the pricey entrees that missed all marks for me and most of the guests. I would be willing to try again because its a beautiful place with amazing service but like I said, there were some big disappointments in there. Just being honest.

I passed by Terra Mae and the beautiful inn so many times, thinking this is one of these rare places in Chattanooga which radiates from inside. Eventually my Love and me made it for a dinner, and it was one of these rare events that shape your perception and idea of Chattanooga as it could and perhaps will be some day. It was a completely satisfying experience, service and food alike. Waitress and cook were so attentive, friendly and approachable. The waitress came in just the right moments, not interruptive but helpful when you needed her, kind of reading your mind. The food was simply very good. The pork belly on kimchi an absolute must. We used the tasty biscuits to wipe the last drop of juice out of the bowl. After a salad we had the lamb, which was cooked with nice dark crust and juicy and soft inside. Combined with a good red wine this was another highlight. A big thanks to the cook. Highly recommended.

We tried going to the Tupelo Honey Café, but there was an hour wait time at 10:30am. So, we looked at Unilocal at Terra Mae would be open in a few minutes, so we walked there. We arrived when they opened their doors. The décor was quite nice — chic meets hipster. The wait staff was friendly. And… the food was pricy for was we got. We ordered braised pork biscuits for a starter. They were tiny, but good. Our waitress brought out their house hot sauce(Frank’s) and their Medusa sauce(a sweet jalapeño relish). My husband got the Country ham Benedict. Think open faced, fancy, egg mcmuffin and a side salad of arugula, cherry tomato, and mustard vinaigrette. He was pleased with his choice. I chose the Chocolate and Orange Brioche french toast. It was a decadent dessert and I had to restrain myself from licking the plate. This is why there are no pictures of food. We saw our plates and forgot about Unilocal

6 Ladies Mid 50’s stopped in on a Thursday Nite at 6:30. Looking for Wine and Appetizers. Found this spot is best suited for a full dinner experience for 2 to 8 persons. Food was Fresh and Masterfully done. Happy Hour Wine Specials. Artist Flare. Petite portions on appetizers. Best for an intimate dinners, special occasions, or business dinner.

I had been working weekly on business in Chattanooga for several months before an acquaintance in Florida suggested this place. It doesn’t get the same press as the Boathouse, Blue Waster or Hennan’s which is unfortunate, as I think this is probably the best restaurant in Chattanooga. I was in town consulting for 9 months and frequented most of Chattanooga’s fine establishments(Chattanooga is blessed with many above-average restaurants). On my first visit I had the rabbit which was outstanding. My second two visits I had something along the lines of a pot pie in which the top crust was delicately laid on top. I apologize that I don’t recall the«official» menu name. Everyone was coveting my dinner. When the president of our company stopped in to take the entire team out for dinner, Terra Mae was the first and best choice. Out of eight of us, EVERYONE was delighted with their meal and complimented me on suggesting Terra Mae.

Last night was awful, its so disappointing because I had been looking forward to eating at Terra Mae for quite some time(after having such success when we just went in for a cocktail and bar bites one night) and we had saved this place as a treat for my birthday… reservations made for my birthday meal and it was a swing and a miss No small intimate table off to the side, I felt like I was sitter closer to the boy on the bench that stretched the wall to the table next to me than my own husband The cocktail was unbelievably spicy. We ordered the fried oyster appetizer. More fried batter than oyster, not that you could taste any oyster with all the blue cheese celery relish(I didn’t see the relish part of it, it was just a spoonful of blue cheese) and bbq sauce. After the table/cocktail, and appetizer; not to mention the un accommodating waitress with a beyond annoyed attitude, we decided to leave. It was beyond disappointing a real damper on the birthday evening we had been looking forward to. Plus a waste of $$$$

I brought my date here for a romantic evening and this staff delivered like no other. They had a nice two seat table set up with candle light, next to the window overlooking the street. The chef came out to say hello and the waiter gave us a complimentary cheese and meat platter. The food was so organic that I felt reinvigorated after eating my meal. I loved the use of fresh vegetables and the high quality meat. I would hands down recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a fine dining experience in Tennessee.

Terra Mae is my favorite fine dining restaurant in Chattanooga. The food is out of this world. That kitchen works some sort of voodoo magic because every bite seems better than the last. It’s pretty pricy, but worth every penny. The atmosphere is also a bonus, because it’s nestled in the quaint little Stone Fort Inn.

This past Sunday, I messaged the business with the following comments hoping to hear back from the restaurant’s management, to at least acknowledge privately the circumstance which led to my disappointment. Unfortunately, today is Thursday and no response, therefore please find our original communication. We have just left out table from a Sunday brunch with arrival at 1PM. Since we have never been here before was not familiar with a reservation policy. Upon entering with my wife and a 13 year old granddaughter we were given the choice of sitting outside or at the bar. We were told these were our only two options. There were several tables open in the dining areas as we were led outside. We cut short our brunch after quickly rating our meals(which averaged $ 18) due to the smell from near by garbage dump and the heat — which brought flies as well. The server was very nice and efficient — she recognized the issues. Food was good, but will most likely never come back while we just moved here.

Another case where a 4.5 would have been granted if Unilocal would improve what is otherwise a great app by allowing for ratings by the ½ star. It is better than a 4. I had the surf and swine… superb, a great mix of textures and rich flavors. I had the lamb and paired with a Merlot. The coctails were great. well crafted, good ingredients, subtle. The décor is modern but uses classic materials, so it gets this kind of rustic art deco look if that makes any sense.

So disappointing! We went there this past week to celebrate a couple friends birthdays and everyone wanted to try this place. Service was very slow. The menu is very small with only five items. It appears to change often but in this night four out of five items were fish and then a filet. If you don’t like fish don’t go. Two of us ordered the salmon stressing several times that we wanted it cooked through. Of course it came raw. So the two of us waited while everyone else ate and our fish was zapped in the microwave I think. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS for what u get. Nothing was offered for the mistake… thought maybe they would give us a cookie with a candle for the Birthdays or something! Will not return and we are five couples who eat out often and don’t mind paying for a great meal when we get it!

This was an delicious Easter brunch. We enjoyed the biscuits and cornbread, followed by dill deviled eggs. My third course was a delicious blue crab bisque. my main course included top sirloin that was really good, but it seemed more like a slice of roast beef. It was finished with a strawberry shortcake that was made out of a nice sweet biscuit like cake. I would like to try this place for dinner to get a better feel of there food. The brunch was very good and the service was good, not amazing. The service made me subtract a star on the rating. I thought our server could have been more attentive and a bit more engaging. A friend did warn me that they call this place«terriblemae» due to the service. Terra Mae is a nice fine dining experience and I would suggest this for a romantic dinner or special occasion.

Do yourself a favor and be sure to make a reservation. The food is creative, original, excellent. The waiters are very nice and knowledgeable. The portions are on the larger side, so it’s nice to get a salad and a main course and split if you don’t want leftovers.

I fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book: Calling something a bistro so that you can charge three times as much for the food as you normally would. Don’t get me wrong: The venue was beautiful. The wine rack was beautiful. The food was beautiful. Individuals with an overdeveloped sense of sight and no real taste differentiation should absolutely consider this as a hot spot. However, as someone who was hoping for more of a culinary than a visual feast, I was rather disappointed. It is my understanding that $ 36 bacon-wrapped scallops should feature sizzling, perfectly-crispy bacon wrapped around fresh, lightly seasoned scallops. However, Terramae’s understanding seemed to be that at least three quarters of that $ 36 should go towards purchasing salt for the dish, which seemed to be designed to cover up the fishy taste of the scallops(and not the good kind of fishy, where fish tastes like delicious cold-water fish, but rather the kind where it tastes as though the fish has been raised off the shores of New Jersey and too frequently visits the underwater radioactive tanning bed). My mother’s steak was also buried under a mound of salt sufficient to de-ice the streets of Nashville during this current winter blizzard. The food was not horrible – it was fine. However, for the price it cost, I expected a whole lot more than a pretty environment and some salt.

Omg! That’s all I could say the food at this place was amazing. The drinks were good crafted and good price. But what I remember is my scallops the were amazing along with the fried bread pudding it was out of this world. However, that day they had a big party and not enough help on the floor but at any moment we felt neglected the server just looked rushed but he made sure he was always attentive and we appreciated he told us the big party had booked at 5 pm and it was 18 of them so we understood. Place is chic and very pretty with a southern flair.

We went here for Sunday brunch while visiting from out of town. We made a reservation just in case but there was no wait. We ordered the donuts with dipping sauce as a starter(the caramel was delicious). The shrimp and grits and osso bucco were wonderful. They also offer $ 10 bottomless mimosas. Definitely recommend Terra Mae.

You cannot find a finer spot in Chattanooga. The restaurant is housed within a 100 plus year old inn. It’s beautiful. The food is amazing. Chef Shelley has created a fine dining experience that rivals big cities. The cocktails are so delish too. Great hand-crafted cocktails. The rooms are so inviting you just want to curl up on the couches and enjoy the fireplace. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful space. Delicious brunch! The chicken and waffles are to die for. The scallop dish, hash and omelette special were also devine. Did I mention $ 10 bottomless Mimosas?! And our waiter Nicholas was a attentive and energetic. The only con was the coffee was weak, which is unexpected for a brunch place and the shrimp and grits were cryptic on the menu. Overall awesome experience!

The challenge with being single is that often, I never make it past the bar in a place like this because it has everything a single guy could want — quick service(bartender is right there), immediate access to a convivial beverage of one’s choice and yep, you can eat right at the bar. Someday I hope to see the rest of the bistro but for this first visit, I was more than happy to hang out in the spirits soaked access point to the rest of the establishment. I specifically came here to to try the Appalachian sampler platter, which had everything needed to set a Southern boy’s heart aflutter, even one that has not lived anywhere close to the South for some time — rosemary country biscuits, slices of salty Southern ham, pickled shrimp, deviled eggs, homemade pimento cheese(nice and spicy) and just because it’s a Southern sampler, some thick sliced bacon, dusted with brown sugar and sesame seed and cooked into slices of sweet, salty, smokey pork heaven — mmmm, good! In addition, had a local cocktail, the Red Butler — a nice«Gone with the Wind» homage, and a second one I shouldn’t have had, and it was also good — about the time I was leaving the regular Sunday brunch bar crowd was coming in and talking about having the boat fueled up for later and for better or worse, I knew I was in a little bit of Southern heaven. if you are coming to Chattanooga for the first time — put this place on your must eat at list, definitely worth it.
