In The Company of Dogs

I ordered dog stairs that were to big. They had me return it to Massachusetts when the warehouse was in California. Cost was $ 108.00.
I wrote them to at least make the difference up by them having send it to Massachusetts. No response. So It cost me $ 39, as they don“t return the shipping charges and $ 108 to return it. $ 147 for nothing. You should be ashamed taking advantage of people like that. I should have read the Unilocal reviews before I ordered anything.

On October 15,2015, I ordered one item. It’s now December 29,2015 and my item is still listed as «backordered.» The real interesting thing is that each time I call customer service says the item is scheduled to ship «by the end of the month.» I need the item and can’t find it elsewhere otherwise I’d cancel my order and NEVER do business with In the Company of Dogs. The concept behind the company is better than this company actually is.

HOW DID I GET THIS CATALOG? You can’t get off of it. We don’t even have dogs and continue to get the stupid catalog. When you call, guess what…“mailbox is full for removing your name”. You can’t possibly get off from the web site either.
HORRIBLE COMPANY that sticks their catalog down your throat, and makes it impossible to stop them sending it.
BAD. Very bad.

Read the reviews — they are right. Customer Service is non existent. Ordered an item returned it –still waiting 4 weeks later for a refund. They say wait 4 — 6 weeks. Have emailed them –no reply. Will contact credit card company and initiate a charge back.

Wow. I am a big internet shopper and rarely have such a bad experience. I purchased an expensive $ 129 dog bed that was too small for my pet. I called customer service and they said to return it and that I would pay for the return shipping cost which was fine and fair. I paid $ 15.50 for USPS priority shipping with tracking and it showed as being delivered a few days later. However, I waited almost a month and heard nothing. I emailed customer service numerous times providing the tracking and return confirmation but was never answered. No response at all. I finally called customer service, and after being on hold, being transferred and then disconnected, and then trying again I was told my return would be processed right away. Happily it all worked out, but I was frustrated at how much effort it took. I did order a replacement bed and it came right away and there were no problems. So-​they are fine unless you need to make a return.

These people are an absolute joke. Do research on what you want and call the vendor/​manufacturer directly. Somehow– even though I don’t remember signing up– I’ve been screwed into being charged 14.95 for their idiotic VIP B.S. This is beyond the fact that they completely screwed my order up. The sad fact is the website seems pretty credible right up and to the point they take your money. Forget dealing with this company and go elsewhere.

omg… these people are the WORST! i ordered 2 shirts for my sister’s bday… never said on the website when I ordered them that they were on backorder. so… I have to call to find out why they have not been shipped. decided to still get the shirts, they said they would be coming in the next day, then would be shipped out to me one or two days after that. that was 2 weeks ago. clearly the cust serv person just lied to me so I would not cancel the order. just called right now and cust. serv person told me shirts would be in aug. 10 and I would get them at the END OF AUGUST! wtf is wrong with these people? never ever again will I buy anything from this company. I don’t know how they are still in business.

I also wish I had read reviews before doing business with this company. I placed an order on a Friday and selected the «RUSH» option offered under «expedited shipping.» I expected my order (not a large package – a couple of pairs of doggie booties for our old, arthritic dog who is having trouble standing and walking on our hardwood floors) to arrive within a few days. On the following Monday I received notification that it had just been shipped and that my items would arrive in 5 – 9 business days – fewer if one of the expedited shipping methods had been selected. I just called the company to complain that this is not rush service and that calling it so was misleading. The woman I spoke to was argumentative and insisted that because I was in California and they are in Massachusetts, 5 – 7 business days IS rush service. I requested that the rush charges be refunded and was told no. This is unfortunate because they just lost what might have been a return customer. Instead, I am writing my first Unilocal review ever and will not order from this company again. I am quite disappointed because I like supporting small businesses and because I used to live in Massachusetts and have a soft spot in my heart for the place.

Be very careful ordering from The Company of Dogs or their parent company, Potpourri. They will automatically sign you up for the «VIP membership program» for $ 14.95 a month. When I called to cancel this, I asked what I was supposed to receive for my $ 14.95, and was told I would get «free» shipping for future purchases and %10 off. Such a deal… hahaha. I never signed up for this. It’s a scam! All customers need to check their statements!

They do not respond to email so you have to call to get any help. If you have a return, expect to pay for it. I was instructed to mail the product back and call them with the tracking number to get reimbursed. Cost $ 40.99 to return the car ramp. I asked for a supervisor and he refused to speak with me. Kept making the rep be the middle man, and he had to keep putting me on hold to ask his supervisor for answers to my questions.

Wish this rating could be –5! And, yes, I should have read the reviews, but it never occurred to me to check Unilocal for an online company.
Ordered last week, and several, days later, order still in processing. No response via email. At least I only bought items that I know are quality, or I would be really nervous right about now.

Worst Company ever — DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. I thought I was ordering a dog seat for the car, based on the product photo and item description, and was mailed a dog collar of some kind. Customer service was not willing to help out with their mistake. If I returned it the shipping alone was almost the same cost as the collar.

I’m one of the idiots that ordered from this place. Backordered items for 2 months? They could not have given a crap about contacting me. Never again.

I bought a VERY expensive crate cover and mattress. The zipper broke on the mattress. They said that they would replace it if I sent the dog mattress and cover back. Had to get a BIG box and spend $$$ shipping it back. Heard nothing. a month passed. I called… they said that the replacement had already been shipped out from the manufacturer… I threw away my shipping receipt… 3 weeks later… Called again. They said they had a date it should be delivered to my home… The date came and went… I called again… NOW they demanded a receipt for my return shipping and stated that they had never received the item back… I will NEVER EVER EVER buy anything from this company again… and neither should you.

So, I have this wealthy prospect who recently purchased a lovely dog. At the advice of the referral, I was told that a nice collar would be an appropriate gift prior to her leaving for France. For whatever reason, I was directed to the In The Company of Dogs website. Granted, it did not take long before I found the perfect collar. Amazing, I thought — they can personalize this item and have it over-​nighted? Eureka! That was in March — it’s now April — still no collar. $ 110 later after talking with two imbeciles to reverse the ‘over-​night’ charge — we wait. Not to mention, a third party manufactures and ships the item — so they have no clue as to what is going on. They, my friends are what’s called: Middle Men. There is a reason the middle man is eliminated — because they are useless. In 2015, it’s imperative to read reviews before purchasing; I lament. This company would have been out of business years ago if everyone Unilocaled loud enough — dogs included. I would rather have been served by a true company of K9’s rather than the company of snakes this company has turned out to be. Now, take notice ITCOD — if you sign me up for some VIP BS membership — you will come to wish our paths had never crossed. Company and consumers — you have all been warned. Proceed with caution!

Add me to the list of people who should have looked for reviews before ordering from In the Company of Dogs. I knew the item I wanted was backordered for about a week, but I ordered it, anyway. That was January 23, 2015. Almost three months later, I haven’t received the item, and no one at the company appears to be «home.» The latest order status said my order doesn’t exist, even though I hadn’t canceled the order. Sent yet another email, and got no response. Can’t check the status tonight, because it appears to be broken. So far, the company hasn’t charged my credit card, and I have now canceled the order. Will take steps immediately to stop any future payment. I, too, fell for the slick catalog full of neat things for my dog that I hadn’t seen elsewhere. Buyer, beware!

BEYOND awful. Sends out a catalogue with LOTS of stuff so I order $ 189.00 stairs so my dog can get up to my bed. The biggest piece of crap on earth arrives. 6 foam steps about 7 inches wide. No normal animal over 4 lbs. could use these stairs. But there is more. They just gather crap from different vendors everywhere and a whole other part of order never arrived. NOW I call to send it back and tell them my dog fell off 4^th stair while I was trying to get her up – it’s just totally unstable and flimsy. So she falls off terrified. But yet it’s tough to get through and the girl on the other end tells me to fill out the form and send it back. I said it’s a big box. Don’t you have a return label and send UPS for pickup? No. My grown kids pack it drag it to UPS where they tell them it costs $ 82.00 to ship back!!! WTF? I call the company again and that is their policy. DO NOT EVER buy a thing from these people.

My opinion is that this place has gone to the dogs.
I placed an order 12 days prior to Christmas and verified that the item was available for two day delivery. I then paid for that expedited delivery and waited… And waited… And waited some more. FedEx tried to deliver the day after Xmas but I refused and had it returned. I felt that customer service was rude and a nightmare to deal with. Still no refund for my purchase or delivery fees.
If you want to be treated like a valued customer and receive what you ordered when you ordered it, I’d suggest you shop anywhere but here.

First the good news… I got the item I ordered in a couple of weeks. Now the not so good…
1. The order confirmation did not include tracking information. A call to customer service got me nowhere. Agent said that since the item was shipped from a third party, co of dogs did not have the info. I called a second time and spoke to another agent who still couldn’t provide a tracking number. What is more fundamental in online retail than providing tracking info for a purchase? First agent was just plain rude, second agent was polite but helpless.
2. I was drawn to order from co of dogs by the attractiveness of the catalog and the offer of free shipping plus 10 percent cash back if you join the «VIP Club». The catch (only explained after the fact) is that you have to wait for the shipping to be refunded along with the ten percent rebate. So far weeks after the initial order this has involved them sending me an email to state that they have my rebate request but still need the an order number, confirmation and all other pertinent details. Also, if you don’t cancel your participation in the VIP Club within 30 days, you will be charged a monthly membership fee. Needless to say I canceled my membership in the club as soon as the item was delivered and I’m not holding my breath for the cash or shipping rebates.

A sad ending to one of my favorite pet catalogs :(
Fetch Dog sold their business last year to Potpourri Group, and it became In the Company of Dogs. Now, one of my favorite catalogs/​websites to shop from has become one that I will NOT shop from.
I decided to purchase an elevated feeder (basically, two bowls about 12″ from the floor) for the beloved pup to replace the one he had, and the one I decided on was $ 150 delivered to my door. Yes, $ 150.00 I knew it would take a few weeks to arrive, but after the expected delivery date, my credit card had been charged, and still no deluxe feeder.
I emailed customer service to inquire since the «check order status» link never worked. I received an automated message saying I would get a response in 1 business day. Three days later, I replied back saying I never received a reply. It’s been two weeks, and no reply!
In the meantime, the feeder has arrived, so at least I don’t have to deal with constantly emailing them, and that’s a good thing, because obviously their customer service is NOT «customer service». They have lost a long-​time customer who obviously doesn’t mind spending a lot of $$ on her dog! Aren’t I their target consumer???
