If you’re getting ice cream to check ‘get ice cream’ off of a list, this is fine. On the day we were here the ice cream was stale(no distinct flavors and some ice crystals), they don’t accept credit cards, cones and ice cream aren’t homemade.

While traveling through the Great Smoky Mountains, I stopped off in Cherokee for a snack break. I stumbled upon Ice Cream Station, located in Saunooke Village. This old fashioned ice cream parlor offers around 20 flavors of hard ice cream & frozen yogurt including cones, cups, waffle cones, sundaes, shakes, floats, banana splits, plus slush puppies, chocolate bananas, deep fried(Oreos, Twinkies, candy bars and PB&J Sandwiches) and funnel cakes(with topping choices). Chips, hot pretzels, soft drinks, water, coffee, and tea as offered here. There’s inside seating in air conditioned comfort and outside covered seating. Being at almost the peak of summertime, I decided to order a Funnel Cake with Powdered Sugar($ 5.35 plus tax) with a Scoop of Pecan Praline Ice Cream(add $ 1.25). The good sized funnel cake was quickly deep fried in very hot oil and lots of powdered sugar was sprinkled on and scoop with cold ice cream on top. The funnel cake was light and crispy, not too greasy, but messy to eat from the powdered sugar. The cold pecan praline ice cream on top of the funnel cake made this dessert sweet and refreshing. This funnel cake was as good as the funnel cakes I’ve had in Gatlinburg on the other side of the mountains. They also offer complementary self-serve cold water from jugs, small paper cups provided. NOTE: No credit cards or debit cards accepted
