This Native American bookstore has everything you could hope to find for entertainment, history, culture, travel, and genealogy about the Cherokee. I met Nora when I arrived at the shop, and she showed me around the small space. They have an entire section on fiction novels based on Native American culture, a children’s section with coloring books and picture books, and a few gifts and souvenirs. But what really makes this bookstore stand out are the books on history, culture, travel, and genealogy. They have books about specific Native Americans like Chief Doublehead and other Cherokee. They have books about the culture of the Cherokee throughout the ages, including how they have adapted for today. They have books on local hiking trails, heritage trails, and places to find Cherokee today. And they also have a section on genealogy, which is a big reason why people visit Cherokee. They have three different rolls and several books listing thousands of people by name, making it easy to trace your ancestry. I walked into this bookshop unsure what to expect, and walked out with $ 150 worth of books! Nora was really helpful, kind, and polite. We talked forever, and I only left because I was hungry! This is a place I will visit each time I come to Cherokee because I’ll probably always find a new book to buy here.
