Well, Walt Whitman Service Area certainly isn’t the nicest rest stop in the world, but it is very convenient and get the job done. By this point in the Turnpike you should be very familiar with pavement and industry, so this rest stop is just one big parking lot with a gas station and a small food area. There’s just a McDonald’s and a Starbucks and a General store with basically any kind of candy and junk food a kid could want. This building was built a few decades ago and has seen better times, but we are not staying here overnight after all.

Monopolies don’t need to provide good service to stay in business. That’s the case with this gas station. The gas station attendant was totally indifferent.

There are nothing but immature and loud kids working at the Starbucks… I expect a Starbucks experience wherever I go… I was embarrassed by the behavior… They need to be retrained

Why oh why can’t the NJ Turnpike Authority be a little more creative and have different food options at the rest stops? Why can’t they figure out a better parking lot/service area traffic pattern? And with all the people out of work in this state can’t they find people who might just be a LITTLE more pleasant? The only thing keeping this rest stop from a 1 star review is that the bathroom was VERY clean. If you’re looking for food, unless you love Roy Rogers(I don’t) either get off at an actual exit or wait until you get to Delaware.

Solid. Roy Rogers delivers: fried chicken and fixins! Clean bathrooms and civilized people.

Southbound. Gas attendant very friendly. Bathrooms(men’s and women’s) were disgusting. This experience was not typical for an NJ Turnpike travel stop.

Walt Whitman Service Area is a safe place to pee and to get a cup of coffee, and even then I’d risk it only if desperate. Truck stops are always a risky destination for anyone who watches what they eat and the fast food options peddled out to weary travelers did not inspire confidence. Which does make me wonder what’s the point in having a place to rest and eat when you can do neither. I tip my hat to those who can survive on Roy Rogers and Cinnabon, but what a mess. At least there was coffee.

For the past six months I’ve been commuting back & forth. After waiting in line for 10 minutes or more CARVEL tells me the same thing every time«our machine is broken». Sounds like a total scam to me. If the machine is broken then fix it or take your sign down. FALSEADVERTISING on CARVEL’s part.

Even one star is too much for this location! Management is absolutely unprofessional and rude! I spoke to some of the managers over the phone and when I asked his name he gave me false name. Well, I am not surprised!!! I find out later that I spoke actually to Alfredo. So, let me explain what is happened to me on this travel stop station. I was on the way to Baltimore and I stopped to get some diesel here. Unbelievable but I lost 1 hour in lane! Infront of me was only two trucks … when I tried to ask John(is this name real? I am not sure now) what is happened and why it takes so long time he gave me absolutely unhelpful and I think rude answer — «you need to wait». No explanation, no care, no polite … really? So, get my advice — do not stop here if you do not wanna waste hour or two …

This service area is off of interstate 95 southbound. I stopped here because I needed to get a hot tea and the person who was driving had to stop for a break. When we pulled up there was a lot more than just gas and a Starbucks. The facility had a aunt ann pretzels a Roy Rodgers a carvel and a few other fast food places that we don’t have in NY. Overall there is a lot of parking here. It’s a good spot for a leg stretch. I did not go to the b room so I can’t comment. My Starbucks came out good but I just had it black with sugar.

What a rip off! Just got the $ 12 menu from Nathan’s. Undercooked fries, small drink and two of the smallest corn dogs I have ever seen!

Typical service area on the Jersey Turnpike. It had a starbucks, so that is always a plus with me when traveling. The bathrooms could have been in better shape, but again, its a rest stop with lots of people only stopping only to use the bathroom, so what do you expect?

Not gonna lie. I come to Nathan’s — any Nathan’s — only for their french fries. They make them crinkle style. Fat. Greasy. Thick. Soft. NOONEELSEMAKESFRENCHFRIESLIKETHIS. Apparently they have some secret method, something about frying them twice, blah blah blah, who cares GIMMEGIMMEGIMME. Since I live out west and can’t enjoy these except as occasional treats, I have not so blatantly pointed out to my sister who lives in Cherry Hill that Nathan’s fries are also offered in her Wegman’s frozen aisle. Hint hint hint.

My Starbucks latte tasted like the espresso machine hasn’t been cleaned or calibrated in forever. The barista couldn’t understand that I wanted soy milk… she couldn’t even spell«Jason» on my fiancé’s cup… so, when they were calling for«Jacsin,» we didn’t know it was his drink! Nathan’s wasn’t much better. The fries had been under the heat lamp a long time and were dry yet somehow still almost undercooked in the center. The cheese sauce didn’t taste right and the hot dog was like rubber. The cashier here was intellectually challenged as well, not understanding that I would accept Coke even though I’d asked for Pepsi. Are all the employees at this place rejects of other fast food establishments in the area? It felt like we were in the twilight zone or Idiocracy… and I’m not usually one who hates on service industry people since I was a waitress for several years in college. These folks made my head hurt. Steer clear of the bathrooms! They were a disaster!

«know the universe itself as a road, as many roads, as roads for traveling souls.» — Walt Whitman ah, the Great American Road Trip! let’s begin the reviews of our epic journey to the Imperial Centre(Washington DC), shall we? heading down 95, about halfway on our journey, and in need of a quick break, we pulled in here. the«facilities» are fairly well-maintained. a few food options — a fitting homage to another American icon, Roy Rogers, is here! — of the fast food variety, as is often found at these stops. and, as you should expect to find at service areas, the prices of fast food will be a bit higher than what they are elsewhere.

Walt Whitman Service Area is about your average rest stop on the Jersey turnpike. The restrooms are clean, which is always a plus. There aren’t too many food venue choices and everything is overpriced. If you’re a vegetarian then you might have an extremely difficult time trying to find a meal here without white/red meat.

Sort of blows. Bathrooms are dirty and food options suck. Roy Rogers? Really? That’s never say die, homie. Haven’t seen one of those in ages and wish I hadn’t this time. Healthy options are a rarity here and the building is in terrible need of renovations. Am I a fan? No… Have definitely«experienced better.» In the future, we’ll just keep driving until we get to another exit with more options.
