The cook in the deli(shawn) makes some great sandwiches! And the fried chicken is awesome! Try the potato salad too

I’m in town for a training, and I was told that Roland’s had an awesome deli counter. I wasn’t disappointed. As soon as I walked up to the counter, I was asked by two different women if I was ready. They were both very friendly, and the one woman helped me with my order. I didn’t realize that it was an actual store. That was neat. I’m staying at the Chesapeake Beach Resort, and this was literally a stone throw away. So I was able to buy produce to take back to my room. I was very impressed. All of the staff I spoke to were very nice.

It is very convenient to where I am renting my house until January the food is fresh they have the biggest fruit and vegetables that look very fresh and it also looks to be locally grown I am very satisfied also the special foods like soy milk and organic milk is a little priceyother than that I am a satisfied customer and would come back to get the necessities minus the milk

It’s helpful to have Roland’s nearby in a pinch, but their high prices and limited selection preclude doing any serious grocery shopping there.

My husband and I have a weekend house in North Beach but we live most of the time in Bethesda, so we are used to shopping in a variety of big and specialty stores. We love Roland’s. There is plenty of help, service is excellent and friendly, and they keep the shelves fully stocked at all times – something that NEVER happens at Giant or Safeway. The produce is good. Meat selection is limited but priced very well. I would love to see them carry more ethnic foods. My favorite grocery for many things is Trader Joe’s, but Roland’s is an excellent general market.

I was a tourist in Chesapeake Beach and this was great place to grab a few things. I would find it a bit lacking if I lived nearby. There’s a lot of prepared or cut produce so you don’t have to spend on prep work if you don’t want to. Lots of snacks. The produce section is not large, but the selection I saw looked good. The last aisle contains about 6 linear feet of various types of breadcrumbs. I’ve never seen so much in my life. There’s a Redbox outside.

Well, in a pinch it will do. I really don’t like Roland’s selection or pricing. Their customer service leaves something to be desired as well. I’ll just stick to going to Annapolis for Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. Even Safeway and Giant are better in my opinion. I love supporting local business but this is one that I just can’t get behind.

I really enjoy having Roland’s 5 minutes from my house. If I’m mid-cake and out of eggs, I can make a quick grocery run! It’s pretty well stocked, and in the summer they carry a smattering of local produce, which is nice since the Farmer’s Market in North Beach is only on Friday nights. Their produce, however is a bit hit-or-miss with what they have in stock other than the mere basics(if I’m making a tomatillo salsa, I’m almost always out of luck) and occasionally with quality, but that’s pretty true of Calvert County and sends me up to bigger stores in Annapolis or Edgewater. You can usually get giant bunches of greens and cilantro at a good price, which I do appreciate. I got a dozen donuts at 6 am there recently and they were truly okay-ish and even a bit stale. In some ways, it’s good for me to not have amazing donuts 5 minutes from home, but it would have been nice to have that option anyway. They’ve started carrying a smattering of gluten-free foods like pasta, cake mixes, flours, etc. I haven’t ever talked to them about carrying more, but that’s something I could put on my to-do list. I can always find basic canned goods, their house-cut meat is pretty awesome(especially their pork chops — yum!), and I can find a lot of my staples here. I’m also so happy that there’s a liquor store attached, and every time I’ve needed some guidance on what to buy, someone can always make me a recommendation based on price, quality. I’d be lying if I said I did a majority of my shopping here, but I need just enough niche goods that I go to a slightly bigger store so as to minimize the overall number of stores I have to go to in order to get all the groceries I need.

Roland’s is a small local market but I always seem to find either what I need or something good enough. With it being an independent grocer you get a little more quality in their selection including meat, produce, and spirits. The prices are typically great, which is a rarity in the DC metro-ish area. Though just a single location they do put their weekly circular online so it’s easy to do a little pre-shopping to know what’s on sale. Apparently they offer delivery, though I’ve never exercised this option, but makes it convenient for those always on the go, the elderly and disabled, etc. Like a kid saving the present that he knows what it is on Christmas, I’ve waited until the end to tell you my favorite part. If you’ve looked at my previous reviews you probably have a pretty good idea of what it is. There is a section for beer/wine/liquor that is stocked with great products that aren’t always found in grocery stores(I’ve gotta get this weird MD liquor stuff learned). The first time that I walked into this place, there in front of me, sat plenty of Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA and Trappistes Rochefort(if you’re not familiar, Rochefort is one of only 7 breweries in the world run by Trappist Monks, think Chimay). They also have regularly scheduled tastings with vendor/distributor reps, which you can also find online. Being really the only grocery store in the area I visit here more often than I might normally, but the prices and convenience are good enough for your day to day shopping.
