A very cute sewing shop! They keep a good selection of fabrics and accessories on hand. They specialize in Bernina Brand sewing machines. I decided to get my old machine out of the closet and start sewing again, but it was long overdue for some maintenance. I was able to get a 2-day turnaround, and now my machine works like new! The employees all enjoy sewing and love to chat with you about project ideas or tips. They also have an email newsletter and several sewing workshops. This place quickly inspires customer loyalty. I will be back!

A Different Touch is a Bernina Dealer, and I visited to check them out. There were a few models in the store, representing a wide-range of machines(3, 5, 8 series and one Bernette, the Chicago 7). Sales staff was fairly knowledgeable; if they did not know, they were honest and stated as such. It felt very much like a nice conversation and not a overly-heavy sales pitch. After visiting the store, I do feel that I don’t know much more than what I read about online and I’ll need to do more research on my own. Also in hindsight, I wish I would have had the sales staff walk me and the spouse through the various machines/series so that there was a basis of understanding.(There was one sign on the most expensive machine with the price if you had a trade-in — the price is considerable and that is the first/only impression my husband had, unfortunately.) The store has a small amount of fabrics, and at the time was having a 50% discount on fabrics from a holiday that recently passed. You can trade in your used Bernina towards a new purchase(no other brand machines); and the trade-in value depends on the machine, resale value, taking into consideration how much you sewed with the machine. Upon purchase of a Bernina at this shop, the customer receives one class to acquaint themselves with the machine.
