AMF Western Branch Lanes

They’re improving the digs. The lanes have gotten an upgrade and are all touch screen. Very nice. The only thing they need now are the automatic bumpers that come up for only the player you select, that would make the lanes top notch.
It also seems that they’ve recently attained a laser tag license. Very interested to see how that plays out. My neck of the woods is coming up w00t w00t!!!

Very nice bowling alley! Very well kept, and clean. Not only is it a bowling alley, but there’s a small putt putt golf course as well as a good number of pool tables to keep you busy. I didn’t have anything from the kitchen as AMF prices tend to be a bit high for my liking. But there was also a full service bar and a pro shop for those needing balls, shoes and accessories.

This place has gone downhill from when it was Pinboy’s. The arcade games are gone. The mini golf looks super sad and bare; Things are missing from it that I can’t recall. The nice green pool tables have been replaced with ugly old red ones. The dartboards are gone. Where are the big screen TVs? What in the world do people come here to do anymore? Just bowl, I suppose.
Bowling is the constant. I’m not mad at them for that. It’s a bowling alley first, afterall. The bar is the same. I don’t know about the food, but they used to make really good chili cheese fries.
This week, we played pool in the late morning, like as soon as they opened. The only other people there was a huge elderly bowling league, having a meeting (led by someone on the AMF staff) where the dartboards used to be. But that was cool, to see that many senior citizens with their own bowling balls and gear, ready to play. We kinda watched them play/​practice for a bit. And that made me like AMF Western Branch Lanes once again. So cute and accomodating.

I always enjoy this location! The service is a bit inconsistent, but when that happens we go and place our order personally. Even if there is a wait for the lanes it’s never a bore or disappointment. I would definitely recommend this spot. The pizza is delish and the drinks great! This bowling alley rocks n roll! Bar, pool, golf and video games are available.

We have come to bowl and they had no lanes available.
It’s got a bar, pool tables and indoor mini golf (not impressive golf).
Staff is good. However, our last visit the machines weren’t working right and every turn was forever long waiting on it to work so we only did 2 games due to time.
It’s close so we come here but I think the AMF off Battlefield is better for the lanes working right.

Nestled in the pristine suburban fringes of Chesapeake, just before you cross the city line into Surprising Suffolk, lies AMF Western Branch Lanes. I’ve been here several times before but never thought to Unilocal about it… until now.
I’m not much of a bowler so I can’t compare too much in that regard so I’m just going off of the aesthetics and atmosphere. I came on a Saturday afternoon, three o’clock to be exact. There wasn’t any league play going on but plenty of birthday parties. Lights were dimmed low and the music was pretty good. I’m a tad bit old school so I was very happy not to hear «Two Chaaaains» blaring out the speakers.
Lanes are in great shape and there’s plenty of arcade games and pool tables on hand for those that want to doors than just bowl. As a matter of fact, there’s a putt putt area where golf wannabe’s can take a few swings too. Staff is attentive but the bathrooms are small and a good little walk especially if your on the far end of the lanes.
The food is flavorful as most everything on the menu is fried save the pizza. However, cheap it is not, prepare to shell out a nice little bit of change for a proper meal.
It’s been years since I’ve bowled or tried to hang out in one. AMF Western Branch Lanes is a nice location if you’re an avid bowler or just interested in a fun night for a date.
