This was an emergency. I needed a dentist appointment within the hour. Any dentist. And that was my bad. Cause one should be much more particular about things like this… If there were a horror movie about a dentist’s office, this is where it should be filmed. That’s solely on appearance. The receptionist, hygienist and dentist were nice enough. But the experience was ABSOLUTELYHORRIFIC. I cannot tell a lie. I must warn others. This is a strange place… It’s in an unassuming house. Literally. Who are they trying to fool? So I sat in the living room for about five minutes before my appointment. The receptionist was a great example of who you would want as first point of contact. Especially in a visibly unwelcoming place like this. It’s very run-down inside. The lamp over my chair was cracked! The equipment is extremely outdated and rusty. I was scared; I’m serious. The hygienist seemed like a student, and she could sense my discomfort with their facility because she kept asking me if I was OK, if everything was OK. No, it’s not. ATALL. She cleaned my teeth in the messiest way ever. I didn’t get a bib, btw. She put napkins on my chest. Paste flew everywhere. She tried to floss and got something stuck in my teeth. The dentist came around for a hot second and I was gone quicker than that, never to return again. Visit at your own risk.

The office is the worst when it comes to returning calls whether it’s for an appt or an emergency. The chairs are completely outdated and if you go in the winter, plan on staying bundled outside and in, it’s cold inside. I will say, the hygienist here are nice for the most part as well as Dr. Barbour himself, but not anything above standard. Done with this place and on to the next…

Ahhhh… the smooth feeling of just cleaned teeth! Love it. I may be addicted. I’ve been dealing with dentists/orthodontists regularly(more than just your twice a year cleanings) since I was 12. I have 4 kids. We have years of experience. When it comes to dentists, some things I look for are cleanliness of the facility and employees(they are after all working on the inside of my mouth), the technology(I prefer digital imagery… hate paper bitewings!) and whether or not my kids would feel comfortable in the room, with the employees, dentists, etc. Our current dental insurance severely limits our choice of dentist. We chose Dr. Barbour from a list. We did check online for reviews & didn’t see any that promised a great visit, but as I said our choices were limited and my teeth needed cleaning NOW! When I called for information/appointment I was greeted very enthusiastically. The woman on the phone was helpful answering my questions regarding insurance and was able to schedule us for the following week. Her phone skills were a little rough, but overall she was nice & polite. Located in an older neighborhood. Parking is in back of the building. Office area/waiting room was uncluttered, but looked like it could use a deep cleaning, especially the carpet. There is a TV and magazines. The dental chairs I saw are old, worn, even cracked; you could see the foam inside the chairs. My first thought was they could at least have used some duct tape. The x-ray arm was noticeably rusted, as were some of the other metal arms on equipment. The rooms were large. Too large and strangely empty. Wasn’t feeling any kind of comfortable. Definitely NOT state of the art equipment or facility. The dentist actually cleaned my teeth(normally, the tech/assistant does this in my experience). Was a little rough, but thorough. I did feel that I received a good cleaning. He answered my questions. Good chair-side manner. Some of the assistants seemed a little lost, maybe interns? Even though I am familiar with the procedures of a cleaning, I think the assistant could have done a better job explaining what she was doing/what she was going to do next, etc. When our insurance updates I will be looking for a different dentist.
