Let me start by saying Cheshire isn’t exactly the culinary capital of CT, in fact I had to actually laugh when another reviewer complained about practically every single item they ordered not being made from scratch(they ‘could just tell’) and that there was no ranch dressing available for their salad(most Italian restaurants don’t have it). I mean honestly. What people on Unilocal don’t understand is that they are reviewing everything about a restaurant which includes atmosphere, price points, parking, service, and more. If you walk into Applebee’s and order a steak, its clearly not going to be comparable to a steak from Peter Luger. Apples to oranges, people! Anyways, having said that… Vespucci’s is a nice little spot for Italian that’s reasonably priced and has a good menu selection. The décor/music is pleasant, the food is tasty and there’s decent parking on both the side and in front of the building. I have eaten here many times over the years and have never had a ‘bad’ experience. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is for the service. At times I have had exceptional service/short wait time and other times I have had a server who either didn’t know what they were doing or didn’t care and I had to wait and wait and wait. It just doesn’t seem consistent to me. But overall, its pretty good for the amount of food you get and if you don’t feel like spending the extra money/time to drive to Hartford or New Haven for something a little more authentic then this is a good neighborhood restaurant. Oh… and get the burrata. Delicious doesn’t begin to even cover it.

There are very few restaurants in Cheshire, so there’s not a lot of competition. However, Vespucci’s does a satisfactory job of serving decent food and having a nice atmosphere. I usually get take out from here, because I love so close by I can walk to it. Their menu is traditional Italian, with some modern twists. My favorite dishes are the lasagna and the goat cheese salad. They’re large enough for two meals, so it’s perfect for lunch the next day. There are far better restaurants, but this place wins in convenience.

Sad to say this is a place we visit often when in town. It’s certainly not good for large groups. Nice gluten free options. Risotto is delicious. Cesar salad ok. Alfredo is extremely saucy. Service is terrible. Party of 6 waited 1 hr 40 minutes for entrees with no appetizers ordered.

While Cheshire does not have the most eclectic fare, they definitely know how to do Italian. The food at vespuccis is consistently amazing. Their dishes are pleasing to pallet and satisfying to the stomach. I have yet to taste something I didn’t thoroughly enjoy from this place. From the soup to the steak to the pasta it’s all delicious! And if you are looking for the best pizza in town look now further. Their crust is thin and crispy and the sauce, sweet and fresh. I have this place on speed dial when ever I’m craving a bacon and onion pizza! Whether you dine in or take out I would definitely recommend a visit to Vespuccis!

Chicken Parm was not great — a slice of mozz over each piece of chicken, some sauce poured over and run under the broiler. To be fair, I told the waitress that the cheese was not even melted and she brought a new plate — but you cannot fix what you do not do right. We ordered calamari as an app. It was rather bland. Cooked well but no pizzazz. My son ordered a pizza. Pizza was wonderful. Waitress was attentive and polite.

ahhhhhhhhmaze. Get the penne alla vodka even though it is not on the menu they will make it for you. The garlic/pepper dip with oil they give you with bread before your meal is TODIEFOR!!! Pizza also is super yummy. Much better then most of the pizzas places around cheshire.

Been here many times, delicious Italian food and cute little restaurant. Service is great and pizza is very good! I’ve also ordered take out from them(their Penne alla vodka is amazing) and have been very pleased. Would definitely recommend it if you’re ever in the area!

Came here on a Saturday night, wasn’t too crowded and we were seated immediately. Staff was extremely friendly, our waitress Patty was great, she was extremely attentive and brought us everything we asked for in a timely manner. I got chicken Marsala and my friend got the salmon, and we were both extremely happy with our food, my mashed potatoes were perfectly creamy, and they gave me two large pieces of chicken. We got chocolate soufflé for dessert and it was very good, made in house, with vanilla ice cream on the side. Very cute restaurant, great for everything from a date or dinner out with a big group!

Thank you, Vespucci’s — especially Julianna — for the wonderful meal you prepared for the reception following my Dad’s funeral. The food was fresh and delicious, and just as ordered. Our guests raved about it — that’s saying a lot — since many are Italian and serious cooks. You brought special comfort on a difficult day. Bravo!

My bf and I just moved into an apartment nearby and we wanted something quick for dinner. We decided pizza would be a quick meal and we could relax a bit after a long day of unpacking. I looked on Google for local pizza places, expecting to see some chains and various small pizza shops but vespucci’s happened to be first on the search. I decided to check the menu and we quickly loved the idea of the Gorgonzola specialty pizza. I called at 8:50(they close at 9:30) and asked if they were still taking orders. The woman on the other end of the phone was extremely friendly and said they were. We ordered our pizza and in 20 short minutes it was ready to be picked up. The woman who rang us out was very friendly and polite and didn’t seem to rush us even though they were closing soon. We got back and finally sat down to eat our pizza and it was delicious! It was even delicious as left overs the next day! I would definitely recommend this place to someone because of the yummy food but also the great customer service!

This is my father, me, and my spouses favorite local Italian spot! They have great food and are pretty reasonable! Love love love the penne al a vodka, the steaks are great and the goat cheese salad with poached pears and pecans is to die for! The staff is great and even the bread comes with a spicy garlic oil!!! Mmmmmmmmm!

I come here for the pizza and it’s been consistently good. My wife and came a few weeks ago and had a really nice meal with good service. Pretty much on par for every time we’ve eaten here. We started off with soups which were good. They offered a nice garlic olive oil dipping sauce for the bread. Bonus points for serving Peroni. I went with my favorite type of pizza: Margherita. This is a red version vs white with tomato slices. They did well. Some red versions tend to be over sauced and it ends up making a soggy pizza. Not here. It was sauced nicely and cooked with a slight char. The portion was a good size and I was able to take some home. Service was good. We’ve had a same server a few times and she’s extremely friendly. Overall, we’ve been really happy with our visits here.

I had to write my review again!!! It didn’t show up… I came here with my family for high hopes as everyone I know brags about this place. Having entered inside it seemed friendly and calm. Our waitress was friendly and quiet. We order our meals and apps… The calamari was the nasty cheap kind. You can always tell with calamari, you can make it look nice and beautiful on a plate but once you bite into it if it taste like rubber yeah… Not good at all. Next was the goat cheese and pear salad another waitress brought it over and asked me if there was dressing on it like I would know if there was as if I worked there!!! So I took a bite of it and there was barely any dressing on it so I asked for more. She went in to the kitchen yelling can I get more dressing for table 3 there wasn’t any dressing on the salad! So she brought it over I just had to mix it in my self! Then came our side salads which I was a little pissed about I didn’t know your entrée only came with salad I wanted a soup because I had the goat cheese salad. But anyways she read the dressings off for the house salads and she didn’t have any RANCHWHICHISVERYCOMMONINEVERYRESTAURANTTOHAVE!!! The side salads came over and I asked for blue cheese and she gave me creamy Italian. At this point I didn’t care I just wanted my meal! The meals came over shortly our meals came to the table it looked delicious but tasted like cardboard. The vegetables were cold, the chicken parmigiana was tasteless which they don’t make there. I can tell it’s not home made because it looked like something you would get from a Franchise the chicken florentine was dry and wasn’t the real way chicken florentine is made in an egg batter not satueed chicken and last but not least I received a chicken bone in my chicken Vespucci!!! I could barely hear my family over the sound of a waitress vacuuming right next to me. I wonder what the other 3 tables were thinking about that… The owner must be a real jerk because for us to spend all that money and your kicking us out you must wanna go out of business. I told my waitress about the bone in my chicken it was as if she didn’t believe me I said it was okay but still should of did something about it I didn’t want anything for free I just wanted a new one! We payed and left I will never ever ever go here again! I think I’ll be safe at the new restaurant Bella’Gio there place they had in Waterbury was amazing! So I think they know what there doing! I’m sorry to say but I really wish I could of liked this place!

I’m only giving this place a 3 Star review as I wasn’t entirely thrilled with the entire dining experience. My appetizer was NE Clam Chowder that was not very good. It lacked overall flavor of a good chowder. All I tasted was bay leaf and celery. If it was seasoned properly it could have been good as it appeared to be homemade. Clams were tender but I sent it back as I will not fill up on a rich based soup with no flavor. Dinner was Stuffed sole with Rice. Rice was instant and a total turn off. The sole was moist but again lacked flavor or seasoning in stuffing. The dessert was a wild berry tart with vanilla geletto which WAS very good. House wine ehh not a fan. Overall if the owner values feedback I’d say revisit the chefs choice of flavoring food and upgrade you table/house wine. My family owned a successful restaurant for forty years and constructive criticism is at times needed.

I want to give this place more stars but… Everytime I go here, there is an issue with the service. I keep getting sat with this obnoxious waitress who is very loud and doesn’t seem to care what her tip is going to be(bad choice since I wait tables myself PT)… She let’s us sit there and wait.wait.wait…barely offers refills(you have to flag her down) and then when you ask her for anything it is like she is «put out». However, even though this woman drives me crazy and makes the entire experience horrible, there is another waitress who is amazing that works there. I think I should find out her name and only ask for her… word to the wise ;) I think their food is great, pizza is pretty good and filled with toppings. Bread is amazing and I happen to be obsessed with their garlic and EVOO! I have never had a meal here that I did not enjoy. They have a side room they recently expanded to make the entire place bigger and did a nice remodel, it appears this would be good for groups and larger parties. I hope this lady quits or gets fired… until then I am on the hunt for the NICE waitress’ name!!! D

A local favorite and always busy. They even expanded their dining room — a full menu and quite extensive — I was thoroughly underwhelmed. We had not been here in a while primarily do to service and an issue with clams casino served without clams and no one seemed to care. So I was in no hurry to go back but offerred to try again on what was a quiet Monday nite. First, the waitress was very good. Attentive, conversational and happy to make suggestions. Why is it the better restaurants get the bar wine needs to be a good wine, not expensive but good, this was clearly cheap(boxed) wine. bad start. Salad was bland. Some olives, red pepper and one cherry tomato. A vinaigrette that was vinegar with some spices. Bumpy road Delicious bread! The recommended stuffed sole was awful. where was the crab meat? The chicken was fair — bland. In both cases the spinach was done right. rice side tasted like rice-a-roni. I remember the pizza was good — wil need to try that again as it looked like that portion of the restaurant was busy. I see of lot of good reviews — not tonight — sorry.
